2020 MacDonald Cabernet Sauvignon

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Friday, February 2, 2024 - My contribution to the CDV713 MacDonald tasting.

With 11-21 being shown this was one of the gaps to be filled when building the lineup.

Hefty tannins but no acrid ashy taste that I've experienced with other 2020 wines. I'm glad that Alex and Graeme decided to release this wine after explore the almost full vertical. A majority of the group complimented 11, 13, 14 & 21 as being the more ready wines right now.

I'm in the camp that these will be best with 20+ years of age on them. Maybe more.

Hold

2/5/2024 6:01:00 PM - Nice. He was up our way the next night and we did the same. 2015 seemed to be a real star during our tasting, with 2016 and 2013 being next. I don’t believe we had a ‘20 in the lineup, so it’s good to see your note (though I was evidently the one of the first people to receive the SOLD OUT error as I tried clicking Submit Order right when it was all gone…no ‘20 for me!).

2/6/2024 7:35:00 AM - I'm in this weird phase of my wine drinking where I prefer them with a decent amount of age for Napa standards (15-20 years) or drink them young (within the first 5 years). My palate can't decide. I had a 16' a couple years back and that certainly was tasty, but for palate, needs probably 10+ more years.
