Saturday, June 24, 2017 - I agree with the previous reviewers in terms of tasting notes, aromas etc - there is actually not much going on here in terms of structure; even considering that it's a second wine, still, the label 'Segla' raises expectations that this wine cannot deliver. It's not a bad wine for sure, but not really anything to write about. I know the comparison might be unfair, yet over dinner last night it was blown out of the water with every sip by a $25 pure Sangiovese Vino Nobile 2011. I don't think it was a bad bottle - rather beyond its peak. I might be wrong or biased (although I do have a French passport!), but I am starting to see a broader theme here where, apart from the best Grand Cru, quality pure Sangiovese (BDM, CC, VN) gives Bordeaux a run for its money any time these days.
Drink up in 2017, this is not going to get any better.
