Saturday, February 18, 2017 - Fully in line with previous note. Amazing wine! Pulled cork with Durand to make sure it came out in a piece, very much needed, cork as SOAKED to the top. But the nectar was fully intact. Gave it an hour decant and it was sublime then with the beautiful 1990 fruit showing, some lovely wild strawberries, unsmoked tobacco, hung meat, tannins had fully softened. This was in the perfect place tonight. Awesome. There are better wines yes (e.g. 1990 Haut Brion), but for the money if you can get a good bottle of this boy this is a treat and must be counted amongst very best value mature Bdx out there. Loving it!

2/19/2017 2:30:00 AM - Hi Purple Tooth! Thanks for pointing this out. I was meant to rate 95 (think corrected this now). The wine was awesome and was second bottle that showed really very similar. Neal Martin pointed out in his last note (rating it 94) that it would embarrass the Mouton 1990 and apparently at Mouton they do not disagree necessarily. Obviously RP's rating at 87 is laughable. This is really a fab wine for a reasonable price if it can be found.
