95 Points

Friday, July 14, 2023 - Decanted 3 hours and drank over the next hour. Paired with Spanish Iberico Pork Pluma steak. Still pretty tight after three hours. Still needs a year or two to soften up. Amazing structure and packed with flavor layers. Easy to pick out St Emilion. No bricking at all. Looks like a two or three year old wine. The most tight 09 or 10 St Emilion I’ve had. Great complexity. I need to buy some of this to put in my cellar. Thanks to Mark1npt for leaving this bottle for my wife and I. That was quite generous and an outstanding wine. Just as good or better than more well known names like Canon La Gaffeliere, Larcis Ducasse or La Gaffeliere. Way better than Beausejour Becot IMO. Will be buying 2015 & 2016 also. Thank you Mark.

7/18/2023 12:29:00 PM - Glad you liked it my friend.....this was around $40/bottle when it first came out. I think I had 2 case of it at one point now down to a few bottles. It has gone through quite a few stages of airtime. Back in '19-'20 it needed about 5-6 hours of air, there have been other bottles that were good as pnp's....I have a few other vintages in my cellar but this one has always been a heavy favorite. Like you said, showing no sign of its age! Cheers!

7/20/2023 9:50:00 AM - Mark It was excellent and still quite young. Even younger than the 10 Canon La Gafelliere & 09 Larcis Ducasse I’ve had. I need to add this Chateau to my cellar. Angelus is close as is Beausejour Becot.

7/20/2023 10:00:00 AM - Angelus is their next door neighbor and bought them out in '08, I believe. On top of that, Angelus has made major upgrades to the vineyards and was able to successfully have something like 5 hectares reclassified this year from Bellevue to now, Angelus eligible fruit.
