  • Wines you should have bought by cases (San Shu Gong): Pnp, blinded this together with the 2006 comparing the 2 eras. Most guess this as the older wines and located in Chambolle. This had beautiful bouquet of red cherry, candy, potpourri. Light body with lovey fruits and aromas. On the next day, fruits mostly resolved with notes of earth and forest floor. Interesting comparison between the 2 wines and the change in style.

  • I enjoyed this with dinner courtesy of OLDWINES who wrote a more detailed note that I can attempt from memory. Big floral nose. On the palate, bright berries, cherry, and smooth earthiness paired beautifully with the steaks and pan seared rosemary potatoes. A perfumed, elegant beauty.

  • Decanted at 4pm and tasted over the next 4+ hours. First taste was at about the 1 hour point. Lovely throughout. Brilliant translucent medium ruby-garnet color. A fairly big wine but not especially ripe in my mind. Very floral and mineral on the nose initially, later some game meat and earthy red cherry and pomegranate. Great depth and excellent acidity (better than I expected given the vintage). Silky smooth texture. Good depth, length and complexity. A real sense of finely chiseled yet balanced and expressive Pinot Noir. This should have a long and positively evolving life ahead. 93-94

  • A wonderful wine, but not for now. That wonderful Vosne magic wafted from the first tiny sip, redolent with dark red floral and deep-toned dark berried fruit. But after that, with slo ox for an hour and then time in the carafe (not decanter) and in a proper glass, little flowed. Dark rich red color, deep fruit nicely molded, smooth, balanced- wood-infused hints of dark cherry, moist soil and dried flower, but little expression. Wait 3-5 years.

  • This was my 3rd favourite wines of the 10 VR tasting. 甘草味道!A mouthful silky palate with herbs taste, what a beautiful wine from HN.

  • Quite a big wine, smooth, silky as well, obviously from a mute vintage - I guessed 2002. Immensly drinkable with lots of strawberries and sous bois.

  • After one hour decant and with minimal swirling, the nose reveals faint hints of wood, sous bois with crushed pine needles and menthol. With time, bright red fruit appears with the tarry menthol note. On the palate, copious and mostly primary red fruit abounds and along with the tannins lend a voluptuous mouth feel. The menthol and forest floor on the nose reappear as dark spiciness on the palate. The tannins are mostly buried within the mid-palate but after the wine departs the tannins surface, pixelated and shimmering and the finish is long consisting of red fruit richness. Could revisit this wine in five years.

... and in the next day, wine and pizza compete for the claim of most tangy, each in a struggle as one pushes the other foreward. Strong soft fruit on the palate and what was then a bright red clamor now darker and smoldering, the riches submerged as if to say,"I will see you again, someday soon and whenever you are down in the cellar I will be there waiting."

Yesterday’s fanned out finish of rich fruit has been dialed down leaving deep waves of minty vanilla spice.

  • Dinner with friends: Blind. Smoke and blueberries, celery, hint of complexity; finely balanced and pleasant, high acid, some tannin, complex finish.

  • Tasted Blind. Pop and pour. Bright pale almost garnet color. Light weight yet quite concentrated bright floral, charming red fruits, creamy, farmyard, pungent spices, smoky - high quality VR screaming out but didn't expect so tempting and aromatic characters. Ready to drink.

  • Luftet 2 timer i karaffel.

  • Rather backward, even with three hours of air, with lots of Vosne spice and tons of earthy character out in front of the tart raspberry and blackberry fruit. The earthiness and high acidity almost make me think of a Savigny, but there's no Savigny that has tannins this silky and refined -- this positively floats on the palate despite the deceptively dense tannic structure. That powerfully earthy/spicey structure prevents the fruit from really showing its power until the finish, where the raspberries laden with rose petals pop up and go on and on. Lacks the sweetness and creaminess of 2009, with unusually high acidity for the vintage, but to me that's a good thing. A lovely bottle that I would never have guessed as a 2009. In fact, it reminds me a lot of a less-chocolatey version of a 2008 Arnoux Suchots drank recently. Needs more time for sure.

  • Quite fresh with fine structure and balance. By no means a big wine, in fact quite reserved and shy, though it has great complexity and detail. Fruit is both red and dark and though quite sweet up front, the fine tannins kick in early and linger on the pepper and savoury finish.

  • 2009 Red Burgundy 1er Cru tasting, muted nose, a very different profile from the 2 Chambolle's and the NSG in the flight, spices, rich, understated, needs time

  • Wow this was sweet and ripe...didn't help that we also had a 00 Bord and a 99 NSG with it! Sweet red fruits...candied, yet still managed some dusty crushed minerals and spice to tame it a bit. Very pretty florals, licorice, cherry pixy stick, cinnamon dirt....as I kept going back to this, it got sweeter and sweeter, yet it was so tasty and irresistible.....this will be killer in 10+yrs. +pts

  • Medium-dark in colour, the nose is currently pretty dumb and closed down although there are some hints of earth and mineral. Very elegant wine, supple, quite feminine with lots of spicy notes. Very good indeed. Estimated maturity: 2017+

  • Hudelot-Noellat Cellar Visit and Tasting (Vougeot): Barrel tasting at Domaine. Ripe fruit on nose, good combination of red and black, with really good floral notes. Spice and herbs more prominent on palate, adding great nuance and character. Intense, alluring finish. My favorite of the 2009 Hudelot-Noellat 1er lineup, excluding Malconsorts.
