For me, this is too ripe and alcoholic, though it is not super heavy. It has very nice flavor and, if you are into the newer-style CDP (Parkerized, 2007 style) you will love this, at it is similar but with more pure fruit and not quite as heavy.

12/12. Disappointing: not that interesting, heavy and notably alcoholic (15%abv). A shame as it s a producer I have enjoyed in the past. I don't recall being wild about any of the case in their evolution in recent years.

Lots of upfront fruit, mostly darker stuff like blackberries and boysenberries but also some cherries. Lots of power but still fairly fresh even if there is some warmth from the vintage. Some herbs as well - bay leaf, thyme, rosemary - growing on a sun baked slope. Light fivespice and hints of bitter chocolate. Medium lenght. Good stuff, but I like the ’10 better.

Deep dark fruit, licorice, spice, laurels, bitter chocolate, saddle leather oil. No oak on this 50/50 Grenache/Syrah blend. Good freshness but quite the body. Really good but should be paired with heavy food to shine.

Drinking well now. Sharp cracked black pepper on the nose w cigar box undertones, dark color and full bodied. Syrah flavors seem to overwhelm the grenache as the gamey, peppery, earthen notes dominate the wine. Syrupy black cherry, plum and fig flavors mingle with tobacco, curry and anise with grippy tannins still. Benefits from a good decant. Drink now through 2022.

Hefty, solid with firm tannins. Full body and finish. Black fruits integrated with some unique characteristics. This didn't not pair well with the beef roast we had, I would say, more of "cheese and cracker" wine. Meant to be enjoyed on its own merits.

Although the blend is 50-50, Syrah flavors predominate over Grenache. Tasty and drinking well now, but likely go longer. Extremely well-integrated. Alcohol comments reflect what's on the label, rather than what's in the bottle.
Some black cherry and violets, but dominated by strong dry tannin and alcoholic heat. I think this is a couple of years too young for me, but seems likely to improve a few points with age.

Cork bled 90% through all around, which is concerning... Black tea, black fruit, a hint of black licorice. I'm no authority, but you could have convinced me this was a reasonably priceed CdP. Nice balance, drink now.
Very interesting bottle. It showed most of the flavors like his elder brother Montirius Confidentiel but without the sweetness. I finished the bottle after three hours but you can still sense that the bottle is still evolving.
My bottle has lots of sediment which didn't affect the quality but instead gave me a feeling of old vintage.

Nose: Dark and brooding, with ripe black fruit aromas of plum, blackberry, and black raspberry. It also has some nice peppery/herbal garrigue and tobacco character as well as a smoky, gunflint mineral undertone. Just a touch of sweet cinnamon alongside. I worry a bit about the ripeness/extract level, but the nose displays a nice balance of assertiveness and elegance.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full bodied and chewy.
Palate: This is serious stuff, easily confused with a well-heeled Chateauneuf. It's young too; I wish I had waited longer, because it's still wound pretty tight. The dark, plummy fruit actually has pretty nice freshness and verve to it, but I'm still not sure about the extract level because the tannins, in addition to being very prominent due to youth, are pretty coarse and astringent. Perhaps that will change with age, perhaps not. The minerality from the nose comes through, as does the sharp herbal note, and the finish is long and strong, with bitter dark chocolate and spice.
Well made from quality fruit and good terroir, and it beats several significantly more expensive ripe-vintage Chateauneufs I've tried recently. The style still just feels driven a bit too hard for me. I'd probably prefer it from a less ripe, robust vintage.

As others have noted the cork was almost completely wet but the wine showed no ill effects. I decanted this for an hour but it was still tight on the nose and palate. After another 1-2 hours of air the fruit arrived. There is a good bit of complexity on the nose showing dark fruit, spice and smoke. This is showing nice balance at 15% ABV with big spicy fruit on the palate and and impressive long finish. If the corks hold out, this will be nice to follow over the next few years.

Very good stuff, especially compared to its price. It has nice, clean Syrah characteristics, with no signs of any oak in it. The 50% Grenach shows itself after a while in the air, but the Syrah is the dominant varietal in this cuvee. Deep and dark purple, very smokey nose, ham and bacon, dense and powerful with a long finish. Been about a year since my last bottle of this and it has developed a bit, but perhaps less than anticipated? Nice wine!

Note from memory the following day: Popped and poured following a couple of older wines. The purple-black color declared this to be a mistake, and the nose and palate confirmed that this wine should be decanted for at least an hour at this stage. Once rolling, though, both nose and palate were full of ripe blackberry, black plum, and delicious essence of meaty, spicy barbeque. The mid-palate was very big and quite hot on this 15% ABV wine, but although the alcohol was definitely noticeable, it wasn't liqueur-like, and there was plenty of structure to keep it supported. There's a truckload of in-your-face flavor here, though, so be careful how you serve this. There was particularly a lot of complexity on the finish, emphasizing a mix of paprika-, cayenne-, and chili-powder-type dark spices, and the finish went on and on and on. I was still tasting traces of this wine an hour after downing my last sip. This is a really nice wine, if still quite young. I hope I have the patience to let at least one of these sit around awhile. It's a major QPR at the $20 purchase price!

Big chewy wine. Syrah dominates the palate and nose right out of the bottle; however, as the wine opens up the Grenache becomes more expressive and balances the wine. Consequently, dark fruit, earth, meat and spice out of the gate and then as the mocha and black raspberry flavors evolve the wine becomes very intriguing. Still to young at this point; but, will be fun to see how it develops over the next years.

Holy Moly!!! This could be the best wine I have had this year.. Totally unexpected as I knew this was going to be nice, but I didn't know it would be this good. Dark Fruits dominate: plums, dates, raisins, black berries. There is a nice barnyard funk, solid tannic structure, good spiciness, smoky bacon, and a good shot of cedar. There is a lot going on with this wine, I could swirl and sniff all night.. Love it.

Shows great potential character. Tight when first opened. Young, herbal, deep structure. One review says smoked bacon, that's right on target. Unique in my opinion. Black fruit, black currant, I can find the hint of tar as well, but really don't get any liquorice. Day two was still good, but by day three it was hollow and flabby. Should do well over the next 4-6 years.

Am informed that this is the superior brother of the Montirius Garrigues which I tried recently and very much liked. Found the Le Clos to be very similar but quite a bit bigger right from the start. Deep purple hue, with a slightly closed nose but berries and black currant still previlant. A big, bold powerful palate of intense black liqourice with a warm, soft feel in the mouth. He's a big boy and again, 'black liqourice' in a glass but not sure I detected much more in this than the Garrigues - just bigger. Would like to try again in 2-5 years, though as someone else mentioned, a good 60%+ of the cork was wet already. Post tasting note: enjoyed this much more on day 3. It had softened and become more elegant. Overall I think this is a delicious wine but it desperately needs time in the bottle as too young currently IMO.

A very nicely drinking Vacqueyras. The nose expresses black pepper, smoked vanilla, dark fruits and a lovely warm tone of provencal herbs. The palate is medium to full bodied with soft but still pleasant tannins as well as a good acidity. This is a perfect match to rustic dishes like braised veal cheeks. I would either drink this now or cellar for a few years. General impression is positive. (score is 90-91)

Dense deep red, purple color. Fantastic aromas of currants, blueberries and hint of tobacco. The flavor is equally delicious with hints of blackberry, currant, blueberry, figs and licorice. We served it with beef fillet, warm potato salad with olives and feta cheese and gazpacho.

Shy in the nose but with nice hints of earth and dark berries. Taste direct and strong with big tannins and power. Acidic and perfurme taste that is rather enjoyable already but I will hold my other bottle for a couple of years. 2009 looks really promising in Rhone.

This is juvenile, but still very enjoyable. It's very spicy, with nutmeg, ginger and garrigue, but the overwhelming feeling is blueberries, cassis crushed stone and licorice, pretty sweet licorice. Alcohol is said to be 15%, but it's nicely integrated. Mouthwise it's very silky with sweet and very smooth tannins, lovely minerality, acidity manages to balance alcohol - excellent. On the second day it's a little less sweet and has lost a bit of it's primary fruit. I think this will get better, and integrate the sweetness with a couple of years in the cellar. I won't save this for long, though.

funky smell from start, but really improved. Dark berries and and firm grip with nice tannins and acid.

Young with fruit aromas like a good boujoulais. blueberrys, figs, raspberry. cherry.
Good but 2-4 years in the cellar will trest the wine well if the cork does it´s job. 60% wet.
