Friday Night Double Blind $30+ (Bin 75): Crimson with orange rim; sweet red fruit, acorn, a little funk, tobacco; sweet cherry, orange, cranberry, tannic, once we gave this more air it opened up with more softness and sex appeal, red licorice; liked the evolution in the glass.

Translucent crimson with copper rim; nose of sweet wood, sandy soil, cherry liqueur, smelled of Barolo; incredibly beautiful, soft style, slight orange on the finish told me this was Brunello. Stylistically this reminded me of Poggio di Sotto but didn't quite have the depth. Delicious nonetheless.

Light red in color; can read through it; kind of weird nose at first- possibly some sulpher?, fresh cherry and salami on the nose; rounded, melted down licorice on the palate, noble fruit, good mid-palate, high acid citrus notes on finish. On the second day this wine really put on some weight while in the bottle. Still fresh but the cherry, cedar, and overall balance came together. 93 points second day, so I'd suggest a good, long decant. Not familiar with the producer, but I felt this was a dead ringer for Ciacci Piccolomini Pianrosso.

Pleasant sweetness and fresh oak in the bouquet. On the palate beautiful red fruit juice, some earthy impressions, pleasant acidity and soft bitterness. Medium long finish. Still very young of course, but this will probably offer really nice drinking 5 - 7 years from now.

Benvenuto Brunello 2006 premiére (30 TN inside!!) (Montalcino (Si)): A bit closed nose. Game hints at the beginning, then plum and alcohol coming out with decision with dried flowers (rose). Good balance, but with still harsh tannins and too much alcohol overwhelming a normal body.
