Nose is not strong; earthy red fruit. Entry is a tart fruit with a fair weight to it. Very juicy towards the finish. A bit of spice to the finish. This is really at the very tail end of its life. Tannins very light, but still a touch of acidity keeping it going. A straightforward pizza wine at this point. Should be finished in the next year.

This has what I have come to recognize as quite a typical Barbera nose. A dark, toasty liquorice and jammy fruit. Entry is consistent with a lot of black liquorice. A very rounded and full profile finishing tart and spicy with a touch of tannin but more acidity. This is quite well done and classic tart finish driven Barbera.

Solid little Barbera that we enjoyed over two nights. Full bright nose of earthy red cherry. Palate is bright and juicy with good concentration and polish yet a rustic grip. Good on its own, but better with food.

Medium red; pepper, licorice, raspberry; very nice smooth attack with alluring fruit, slightly closed, but still lots of good fruit and magnificient long aftertaste; not that complex but very nice and agreeable

Very nice nose with a great deal of class and elegance. Delicate, floral, with a touch of cherry and toast. Entry is tasty dark cherry with a savory back end and a nice acidity. Like a mix between an Occhipinti frappato and a heavier, more complex and elegant Barolo. Nice early drinker and summer wine.

Very fragrant nose of cherries, flowers, curry spice. More plums on the palate, with great spice note. Nice acidity and smooth tannins. Overall this is a great bottle of wine that will improve with a few more years in the cellar.
SS 90+pts.

Popped and poured. This bottle is not as overtly ready as the last two; nose a bit more reticetnt and generally lighter on the palate and less interesting. Doesn't improve on the second day. Disappointing.

Feminine in nature, ripe red fruits and spices..very easy going with fresh acid, perhaps a bit lacking in concentration for my palate, but what it lacks there it makes up for with delineation. Pretty barbera!

Decanted 2-3 hours. Ruby in colour. Floral, cherry on the nose. Medium bodied - plenty of acidity, lots of of cherry, redcurrants and a little spice with minimal tannins. Acidity came into balance after 15 mins or so in the glass - could have done with a longer decant. Good length on the finish, really intense wine.

Popped and poured. Medium deep ruby; classic spicy Barbera nose. On the palate - initially a bit tight but over 30 minutes or so in the glass this has mellowed nicely although still having lovely balancing acidity and a floral note and just a whiff of tannins on the finish. Good balance overall; a nice drink today but no rush.

PnP. Medium to light garnet color. Very expressive nose, fruity, candy, cherry liquor, milky. Medium body, fresh, light, medium acidity, very approachable despite the 12 month ageing in one and second year barrels, medium to long finish, fruity and subtle. A nice wine.

Medium red in color with aromas of red fruit. Initially lots of sour cherry which softened with time. Some cranberry and red licorice. Medium bodied , went well with pizza and stromboli. We enjoyed this.

I found some old written tasting notes from my first trip to Piemonte in 2010… Tasted at the winery. Aged 15 months in French barriques (50%) new. Bright acidity. Round, viscous mouth feel. Seems a little one dimensional in its fruit profile. Not particularly exciting.

En riktigt bra Barbera med mogen söt röd frukt, silkiga tanniner och lite toner av fat. Väldigt prisvärt.

Very nice. Still pretty tight, brought to a friend's and he just popped and poured. Would have benefited from decanting.

Académie des Cinquante Piemonte tasting (Restaurant De Burgemeester *, Linschoten, Netherlands): Not an easy year in Piemonte. A much lighter style than the Cogno P-P, elegant and well-balanced, hint of liquorice, bright red fruit, charming, good length.
