Textbook St-Émilion. Blackberry and cassis fruits with iron and graphite. A touch of cedar and banana adds complexity. Long acid fruity and mineral finish (WS and RP say charcoal and I agree !). At its peak but I guess it will be excellent for 5-10+ years.

Dark and broody, full bodied. Sangre, some black fruit remnants. Salty, some cigar box and leather. Classic BDX nose. Tastes like the nose. Medium plus finish. Very nice wine for the price.
Paired nicely with steak and baked potato.
In its window. Drink now or hold. I doubt it will get much better. Better with food IMHO.

PHMG WAG: Cellar Overflow (Down Stream at the Lyon's): 2+ hour double decant, this punched above its weight tonight. Single blind pour to the group and Denise's WOTN. 90% Merlot and 10% Cab Franc, this bottle showed off its black plum, black currant, mocha, black licorice, graphite, cigar and earth notes. Still very solid structure if you want to wait a bit! Now-2030.

Slightly tannic still, very spicy oak, juicy, well-balanced and good weight, mostly red fruits and plums, ferrous notes, secondary and tertiary flavors, a hint alcoholic, unsure if this still has much potential to improve - 90-91 points

Nez très invitant mais même après quelques heures de carafe, c'était très fermé. Excellent potentiel mais la prochaine bouteille attendra quelques années.

A lot of cassis and some blackberry. Very good mouth with fine tannins and medium concentration. The finish is very long with strong cassis taste. Excellent now but it is still a young wine.

Youthful, fresh, medium-bodied, and just about ready to go, the wine is all about its fresh, sweet, dark pit fruits, licorice, espresso, and black cherry character, which shows well on the nose and palate.

More structure than the 2012 Beringer Bancroft it was served against. Less fruit bomb, as you would expect. More currant, pencil and earth. Similar plum / mocha. Nice texture and length, now-2030.

Notes of blackberry and plum transitioning to lighter notes of oak spice and chocolate. Seemed a bit dark and foreboding at this point, perhaps a bit shut down. Not much in the way of secondary notes other than what one might expect from the oak. Still seemed relatively young and vibrant, so it may evolve further down the line.

Nez d'épices, de sous-bois, de champignons, de fines herbes, de groseilles, de cèdre, d'encens...notes florales...très beau ! Un vin riche, chaud, charnu, équilibré...fondu. Fin et intégré...son fruit est plutôt discret. Longue finale. Tiendra encore quelques années mais vraiment beau maintenant ! 90+

Wasn't much taken with this very ordinary claret, though I'm not much of a fan of mostly-Merlot blends anyway. So I didn't have high expectations - aside from the 2010 vintage itself (reportedly a very good one). Pretty boring wine, very inky and heavy-body, short(ish) flavours, tannins a bit grippy.
C....inky dark red/gun barrel black. Heavy body. Alc legs.
N.....intense red and black fruits. Not complex beyong that.
T.....short flavours, almost mature, probably just a couple of yrs off, but is drinkable. Rather simple. Kinda' boring. Lacks charm and personality. Dense and inky. Finishes dry. Too much oak?
VFM? Won't be buying this Chateau again. Expected more at this price point and from a near-perfect year like 2010.

Great St. Emilion wine that is drinking very well right now. Red fruits dominate on both nose and palate. Tannins not too forward. Glad I have more of this. I am interested to see if this improves over time.
Decanted and drank over 2 days... tannins where quite hidden, meaning this wine is drinking well right now though I'm going to wait 1-2 years before popping the next bottle.

Awesome Rol Valentin. Slow out of the gate, but this builds. Excellent depth and complexity. Drinking well now and should drink well throughout a long lifetime.

Better out of bottle than barrel, the wine offers fresh, ripe, black raspberries, licorice, earth, spice and black cherry jam notes. Silky, soft and round, this medium/full bodied ripe will drink great with just a few years of age.

Coffee, truffle, cassis, plums and licorice scents fill your glass. Silky in texture and more concentrated than the 2009, the wine ends with floral, plum and fennel flavors. Thanks to investments from the new owners and the efforts of their consultant, Stephane Derenoncourt, this Bordeaux wine from St. Emilion is becoming a property to watch. 91-93 Pts

Nose a bit reticent despite coaxing; the fruit here not as charming as the 2009 version, which really overachieved at last year’s tasting. Without that engaging element, the 2010 falls back into the middle of the pack here, with the less ripe, more structured profile of the vintage showing in this St. Emilion, which is solid but not as engaging as the 2009. 90-91
