Wow. Prickly and mineral on the palate in a oh so wonderful way but massive and rich at the same time. Mature, or at least right in the home place of maturity.

Light yellow/green. Pear, star anise. Light and perky with some citrus as well. A twist of something odd makes the finish less pleasant-is it cork or is it Gruner? Hard to say but not pristine.

Classic grüner. Great summer outdoor wine with some oysters, cod and salmon - robust enough for the salmon and zippy enough to work with oysters. Had it at the ocean grill in NYC - twice retail which is not at all bad for NY!

Very full, fresh and expressive nose of sweet tropical fruits: pears, peaches and yellow damsons - all this balanced by cool, fresh and smokey mineral and peppery aromas. On the palate the wine is extremely expressive, voluminous. You can even imagine drinking three wines in one sip; that's how the taste evolves on your tongue. Full, ripe and sweet aromas of green and red apples are balanced with crisp, almost prickly acidity, intensive notes of white pepper, fresh limes and tart herbs. Lots of green notes, tartness, powerful minerality and the slightest hint of oak in the lengthy finish. The wine dries mouth, as if there was a little bit of tannic grip here. A very big, robust and powerful white wine with a rush of intense aromas from the beginning to the end. To this date this wine remains as one of the best dry, young whites I've had - no wonder the produces says that the wine hits its peak at around 10 years from the vintage. Definitely excellent QPR even at 16,97€.

Very well-made dry Kamptal Veltliner. Bright light yellow in color with tints of green and a rich, perfumed nose with prominent mineral notes, hints of grapefruit, pepper and also some accents of rhubarb. Lively, firmly-textured palate revealing fine citrus fruit, an excellent concentration and a piquant and juicy acidity. Long lasting, peppery mineral finish. Already excellent now, but there is room for further improvement.

Austria Uncorked (SLS Hotel, Beverly Hills, CA): Nose of wet pavement with an almost effervescent quality. A bit light on the fruit but there was much complexity in the minerality. Fascinating wine and I really liked it.

Popped and poured at fridge temp. The cork had leaked 3/4 of the way up, but the wine is fine. It is a harmonious whole, with a golden yellow colour, a nice nose of crispy apple and citrus with a bit of a chalky aspect to it, and nice acidity along with white fruits and minerality on the palate. A very slight spritz to it too. This is very enjoyable, a somewhat full-bodied wine that can take heavier food.

Wines with Terry Theise (Soul Wine, Seattle): nose: herbal, mineral, cinnamon at times (Terry indicated it was "the peppery GV") palate: green. Just like a gruner, but to me, not adding much to it. I wasn't wowed, though it was uniquely typical - if ever someone wonders what benchmark GV offers, I'd hand them this.

A big hit of lemon, some honeysuckle and slate but mainly citrus. Great acid with a little zip on the tongue. A little petrol on the finish.
