Extremely perfumed and aromatics with notes of mushroom, truffle, baked red fruits, toast and spices. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin. Tannin have been integrated and long finish. Bottle condition is pristine and its at its peak.

Served blind to me. Called it a Denis Mortet 96 or 99 lsj. Typical denis mortet nose which would be mistaken as vr with stems, wild berries, roasted meat and perfume. Knowing how Denis Mortet’s style is in the 90s, I was convinced it was a Denis Mortet while everyone thought it was a VR. Very long and deep with lots of stuffing. Superb. My first Mortet Chambertin. 94-95

Same bottle as Burgundy Al. Dark fruit and meaty Gevrey notes. Opened tremendously over the course of the evening. Classic Chambertin--a big wine that, while drinking now, will continue to improve with bottle age.

Zachys La Paulee "Warm-up" Dinner (Lafayette - New York NY): Small glass, late night, brief note. Good+ aromas, great flavors. All black fruit, roast meat, all nicely bright and fresh. Long finish, great balance. Very good now, drink by? 2045?

95 Burgundy (La Trompette, London): Another dense, quite plush, dark, red-fruited nose. Very smooth. Again, just a touch of dryness on the finish. Started off quite showy but can't quite keep it going. Not sure. ***1/2

BR 2009 Bordeaux En Primeur Tasting (London): Screamingly good burgundy. Concentrated, complex savoury pinot character with a real depth of character and complexity. Drinking like a champ but years ahead of it. 95+

Amazing stem aromatics. Cherry, deep palate. Great mineralite.
