Consistent with my review from way back in 2012. Pepper and spice, lots of cherry, and just the right amount of tart. Paired well with an oven-roasted pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes and peas. Glad I still have one more bottle of this to try again next year!

PnP through Nuance Wine Finer. A little heavier, darker appearance than expected. On the nose, mostly cherry cola. On the palate, nice balance of dark cherries, a little chocolate, a little earth. Mild tannins. Fairly long finish. Not old world style, but not over the top new-world style either. 89+ pts Aloha.

Still quite primary, lean nose but then gave way nice rounded fruit with good length and quite firm acidity, finishing with smooth tannins - very good and should improve with a couple of years

Color moderate claret. Nose pepper-berry. Initial flavors were a minerally almost lite earthy tastes with an eventual pepper-berry-oregano-chocolate blend. Body was disappointing and took away from the overall appeal of the wine. It definitely lagged behind many other Willamette Valley Pinots that I have had over the past 6 months.

Nice dark cherry taste with the wine starting to mature well. Tannin is presents but not that strong, Wine was smooth to drink with a great finish. No need to decanter but the wine opened up well over time.

This was great drinking. It deveoped more with time. Decanting would have benifited this wine as the more air and time really brought the complexity of this wine to life.

This is a testament to both the vintner and the vintage that when we let this breathe and decanted it, it still needed to "open up", it was quite "tight". Three years for an entry level Pinot - even from a great vintner - was a surprise. As it opened up, we got what we have come to expect. Agree with prior comments, this is a "rich", racy Pinot with a lot of character. Went well with T-giving turkey, but it had me sweating because it was a young wine. I'd let this vintage set in your collection for at least a year. Good tannins, spicy, cherry. Not quite as translucent as some Pinots. Good buy for good Oregon Pinot for the money.

We decanted part of this and part of it not. The decanted part revealed a lot more complexity (as I will describe), while the undecanted part had less to offer. THUS, I would recommend letting it breathe a good while and preferably decanting/aerating for the best taste. The color onthis wine was cherry red, just slightly opaque. The nose, as was the taste, strong on black pepper and other spices I couldn't quite place--- but very enjoyable. A touch of earthiness, a touch of wood. Not an in your face fruit forward Pinot, but more delicate and highly complex. I would almost say this wine would be better for a superior pre-dinner tasting wine than one to pair with a dinner, but in saying that I do not discount its tremendous complexity, balance and finish. Just a lighter style of Pinot, yet with a lot of substance. Some of Elk Grove's have been more in your face, this is definitely not the case here, but ooh the complexity of the taste and finish.

Served with grilled salmon. Did not decant. Ruby color, cherries and spice in the nose, round flavors and good acid in the mouthfeel, somewhat short length. Would serve and enjoy again, but would not purchase to lay down.

Ruby colour. Youthful nose of red cherry, plum and raspberry. Weighty pinot with reasonably high alcohol and acid. Good palate with red fruit, cedar and mushroom, smooth tannin, and reasonable length. Solid new world pinot with some earthy character.

PNP through the vinturi. In the glass: deep garnet, pink edge. On the nose: First whiff of hot sweet cherry, minerals and oak. Opened up and blew off heat quickly to cherries, light spice, toasty oak and a hint of vanilla. In the mouth: light/medium mouth feel, sweet cherries on the tongue, light tannin bite, light finish with a tiny bit of bitterness. Everything I've come to like about an Elk Cove Pinot, very consistent!

Clear with medium deep garnet color, Nose dominated by floral, spice and oak. Medium acid levels with medium body. Palate is in line with nose with dark cherries, currant, blackberries and some earthy herbaceousness... Nice pleasant round silky finish.. This wine is ready to drink but should hang in there for 3-5 years -Very good to Excellent

The color was light ruby red, opaque, and salmon colored to the rim. The smells were cinnamon, sour cherry, spices and earth. The taste was reflected sour cherry, raspberry, cinnamon, as well as light spices and earth. The tannins were very light and dusty and this was a light bodied wine.

I enjoyed this bottle. It showed elegant fruit, void of the artificial-tasting candy notes that you can sometimes get from a CA pinot. This presented itself more burgundy-styled with some forest floor and alcohol level felt low - although the alcohol level was not printed on the bottle itself.

Rich, somewhat inviting nose of red fruit and light earthy aromas. The palate starts off sweet and tart, easing into very soft and delicious red fruit. Some richness appears right before the finish where some light tannin and medium acidity close things up and dry the mouth. Very easy to drink and quite enjoyable.

Giant Wine Sale & Tasting 1/21/2012 (Cellar on Greene, Columbia, SC): I think one of the best ways to describe this wine is "tangy" On the roof of the mouth there is a vibrant, zesty, acid surrounded, fruit flavor that continues through the finish. The fruit is not over ripe, and they did not over extract. There is a deep floral component along with some nice dark cherry, and oak on the nose. More than typical dark color for a Pinot. The black cherry from the nose is extremely expressive on the palate. There is some peppery spiciness to back up the fruit, along with a small amount of those secondary, non fruit, supporting flavors, like wet leather and mushrooms. Just medium bodied. The acid profile is really sneaky, towards the back of the palate, after it has been covered with fruit. Silky tannis. Noticeable oak that is still working it's way in. Polished, earthy finish that might improve with decanting, or a little more bottle age.

Sweet red cherry fruit nose, very warm and yummy smelling. Tart red fruit initially on the palate turning softer into the mid-palate with a bit of tartness to the acidity. Bright cherries, cranberries, even young red grapes and skins. Tannin and acidity are present and integrate well with the flavors. Some heat does show in the finish, but only slightly. Pretty damn tasty overall. Straight-forward but very typical Elk Cove, which if you like the style, you will like this.
