From a magnum along side a 2007 two acres magnum. Classic purple ink dark color Carlisle, drank amazing right away and got better through the bottle. Well integrated fruit and very well balanced. Went perfect with roasted lamb on Easter. I’ll be opening my last 750 soon.

PnP when surprise guest dropped by for dinner. No detailed notes. It was great right away, but it opened up into a real beauty after an hour. Mike’s original drinking window of ‘12-‘24 appears to right on the money.

Wonderfully balanced rhone style wine with complex dark fruit flavors, savory earthy and meaty flavors. Very smooth and integrated. Lovely mature wine and I could drink this kind of wine any time. Great with our grilled lamb chops, gorgonzola polenta and roasted eggplant.

Decanted thru screen because cork broke. Still needed some time to open up. No detailed notes. Big. Rich. Mixture of red and blue fruit, with nice spice. Still plenty of life left.

The best bottle of 2 acres I have had. Great structure in liveliness. I think it could even improve with more time, given the tannin and finish. Fantastic balance.

Drank one of these last evening in a mini vertical of Carlisle Two Acre. We had '99 from magnum, '09 and '11. The '99 stole the show but each of the bottlings was excellent. I would score the '99 95 points and the '11 90 points. The high scoring '99 was very elegant with great integration and still boasted good fruit and a bit of smooth tannin.

Pop and pour. My wife and I enjoyed this after putting the kids to bed. This was surprisingly finessed on the palate for the Cali field blend. It had a simply luxurious mouth feel. The depth of flavor that comes from old vines was clearly present here. There were notes of dark fruit and berries, bramble, and and a savory finish. The nose was marked my a sweet perfume. This was simply delightful.

Granted we should not have opened this after a night of drinking California Pinots--but it seemed a good idea at the time. Nose of dark fruits and earth and tar notes, still tannic-acid in balance. Decent finish. I think wait a year or two before the next bottle.

Displaying gorgeously pure and detailed aromas of black cherries, black currant jam, and mulberry fruit wrapped in violet gum, toasty spices and nuanced leather and medicinal accent tones. Fairly rich in the mouth but not over done at all, this relies on some firm but well covered tannins for support that extends through the finish which shows a hint of dryness. The acidity is nicely measure, keeping the wine light on its feet. Fruity on the palate, though with more toasty spice and savory, leathery and slightly grapy notes on the midpalate all laced with a streak of hibiscus tea that lingers on the fairly long finish ending with a pop of jammy fruit and a hint of cutting minerality. A fascinating and distinct wine that shows the potential of thinking outside of the box.

13.9% ABV. Translucent dark garnet in the glass. This was showing well. Aromas consistent with other vintages of Two Acres, but to my memory the Mourvedre has a more restrained/elegant place in the mix with light nuances of animal fur, wax, and minerals. Medium-full bodied with a seamless texture and dark berry fruit joining in with the more savory flavors. Tasty.

From vines planted in 1910. 13.9% alcohol. From a field blend containing Mourvedre, Petite, Sirah, Carignane and Alicante.
Opened the night before, this wine was very expressive. Dark ruby red. Lively red and black fruit aromas. The palate features a black fruit core with a beautiful red-fruit highlight. An extremely distinctive flavor component of something almost approaching tropical fruit. Very deep, with that patented Carlisle balance. Lingering aftertaste.
Two Acres is a perennial favorite of mine, but this one impressed me.

Meaty nose with a floral quality, showing crushed berries, stone, and pepper. Palate is smooth and deliciously ripe and a touch sweet with currants, boysenberry, and a meaty spice character--though slightly closed compared to the nose. Medium finish, blood and spice carrying through with plenty of dark purple fruit and some chunky tannin. Impressive concentration, still very primary with tons of concentrated fruit. Only moderate depth--was expecting a little more complexity, but I opened this way too early. Hold if you can. More open on night 2, so bumped a point...still way too young with enough acidity and tannin to age well.

Popped and poured. Medium-plus, bright purple hue. Expressive aromatically off the pop, this shows tremendous freshness and purity in the aromas of assorted red and dark fruits, which are complimented by hints of spice and a floral note. Medium to medium-plus body, quite elegant and true to Russian River Valley. On the palate, this is much less open but still shows a solid core of fruit flavors and an impression of minerals. Moderate to moderate-plus acidity keeps everything lively. The tannins are chalky on the moderate close. Clearly, this is way too young for drinking at this time and should rest for at least 2-3 years. That said, due to the acidity, this worked wonderfully with food so if opening now be sure to pair with a meal.

Decanted about 2 hours. Sweet red fruit and earth on the nose, with a touch of cracked pepper and stone in the middle. It ends with some floral notes. Red fruit and pepper on the palate, with chewy tannins and nice dirt flavors. It has great acidity and finishes with some crushed rock.

Tasted briefly but this had aromatic red and dark fruits, together with some herby spice, on the nose. Palate was tasty and expressive, and was a group favorite among a strong weekend lineup. Did not take enough notes to rate this, but this is a strong performer at this stage.

Pleasant but nothing note worthy. Probably would drink sooner rather than later. An hour + of air time didn't make a difference.
