This is very good now. Black fruit, licorice, herbs and some smoky hints. Be careful with the last glass of the bottle. It has lots of sediment. But after 13 years, this is a rock solid Bordeaux experience

Really dark and concentrated wine. Cassis, tobacco, anise, hint of spice and oak. All consistent on nose and palate. Very high acid, rich and mouth filling. I enjoyed this but did find it a little too bombastic for me. Probably could have scored higher with a longer decant and if I was in the mood for it.
Fair amount of sediment. Cork tight and in great condition. Decant and give it a good few hours to breathe.

Dark core, brownish rim. Immediate attack of fruity aromas after pouring which quickly fade and wood, toasted aromas and tobacco are taking over. Same impression as two years ago. The complexity and charm of previous years have gone. This oaky and toasty perception continues in the mouth and leaves an ungenerous and unbalanced feeling although tannins are smooth and silky. Developes surprisingly and after 3 hours toast , fruit and tannins get into a nice equilibrium. Still great biodynamic work.

Bordeaux 2010 - 10 Years On - 61 Reds: Bordeaux 2010 after 10 years. 61 reds, mostly big names, tasted blind. Average score 92.1 and lower than the more open and charming 2009 vintage last year (93.4). A few observations: A) It’s not yet the harmonious, complex, classic, clean vintage. Especially the masculine appellations of the left bank need at least 5 more years to just open up, potentially longer to soften. B) Left bank trumps right bank thanks to less detectable alcohol, cleaner lines and the two best wines of the vintage (Mouton, Margaux). C) Pomerol shines bright with many strong wines which can all mask the high alcohol levels (best AOC slightly ahead of Pauillac). D) As in 2009, there are several right banks already past peak, incl. big names (Duffau Lagarosse, Ausone). All in all, 2010 is a very good vintage with pockets of greatness but today 2009 shows more open and hence complex. More information, top and worst 10 list, appellation rankings from five participants in the story link.
TN: Probably the sweetest fruit with a bright but sirup like fruit expression, quite singular but masking all the other nuances which might be there. Soft structure, good freshness, medium- length.
Decanting: I would decant it for at least 2 hours.
Group average: 90.8 Group rank: number 48 out of 61 wines
Grand Bordeaux 2010 ten years on tasting; 6/21/2020-6/22/2020 (Fribourg): Big Bordeaux 2010 2-day horizontal hosted by a private collector. My 3 main takeaways from the vintage were 1) more frequent perception of heat, 2) a slightly stronger left bank and a less consistent right bank, 3) while in general it is still too early to pop the 2010s, wine selection is key as some appear to be in decline already, especially on the right bank. The top wines were Mouton (99), Margaux (98) and VCC (98). The biggest positive surprise was Clos Manou (95). Biggest disappointment was Pape Clement (86). More details and complete tasting overview included in the tasting story.
Tasting note: Very fruit forward with lots of freshness but otherwise rather simple and one-dimensional. Harmonious palate.

Intense and juicy with lots of grip and spine. Although in balance, now a bit in an angular stage. I suppose that´s because the primary charme and fruitiness starts to vanish and the tanins and acid of whopping 30% Cabernet Franc in the blend currently dominates the mouthfeel.
Almost a Baby still, this will last for another 15-20 years.

First smell like over the top (raisins), surprisingly different fruity and earthy in taste, second day intensive smell of dark berries with taste of raisins :) Need to get more if this vintage.

Powerful nose of red/black fruits, licorice and spices. 15% ABV barely detectable, no disturbing heat or burning on the palate. Lively with good concentration and freshness. Not jammy, more spicy, salty and mineralic. Though still beeing a bit angular I would drink this in the nearer future when it still shows its youthful exuberance.

Double decanted. Rustic; Barnyard, leather, horse shit, sweet plums and ripe red berries, touch of cedar. On the palate it's ruck, funky and warm. Moroccan spice. This is from the cellar so about 18C...any more than this and I think it would be distinctly soupy. And, with time as the bottle warms, this occurs - more cherry fruit but definitely more soupy - back to the fridge for 15 minutes I think...

The Grand Tour - day eleven (Bordeaux): Bretty and shitty, earthy, robust and rustic with dirty plums. Quite sweet fruit after the nose perhaps tending to some volatile sharpness. Tannins are chalkily gritty. Hmm.

Modern styled BX but with guts an thus not at all boring: Juicy, with loads of red fruit and some complexity. Though it has 15% alcohol it is not at all jammy. A high percentage of Cabernet Franc (30% is mentioned on the rear label) is the key probably. Pretty balanced already, smooth tannins, fullbodied, long. I expected a wine with more restraint and elaborated terroir but this is a real pleasure.
This is ready to drink and on a early peak. I have no idea how this will look like in tertiary stage, but I presume it will preserve its current attractiveness for another six or seven years at least.

Ripe spicy berries are led by fresh, black raspberries, jam, earth, licorice and a touch of espresso bean. Deep in color, young and fresh, this blend 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon should be better with a few years in the bottle.

Strong nose. Quite classic right bank merlot dominate with rich jammy fruit. This has a good strong entry with a very nice weight and full savory flavours. Quite rich fruit and fine tannins. This is quite a modern style but still classy and not overly extracted. OK to drink fairly young.

R4.1 Fairly dark, deep colour. Strong fruit nose of plum and cassis. Nice entry but an odd plastic component mid-mouth. Mid-grained Tannins come strong and early. This is a bit austere with a square profile.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, red currant, black currant (cassis) and oak. It tastes like blackberry, raspberry, red currant and game. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Nose with ripe blackcurrants, some blackberries and dark plums, notes of "sun-ripened" berries, some tar, a hint of barnyard aromas, oak med some vanilla. The palate is medium bodied+, with ripe blackcurrants and dark plums, good concentration of fruit, noticeable acidity with an impression of tart berries, medium(+) tannins that are well embedded mid-palate and emerge more in the aftertaste. The aftertaste also shows ripe berries and some oak. Young, rather accessible already due to its tart and fresh palate, but it would be good to give it time in the cellar to better integrate the oak note, 89(+) p. This wine shows rather typical 2010 character with a combination of good ripeness, fresh acidity and clean notes.

A much bigger wine than the 2008, which drank extremely well upon release. With high values on all parameters, this is one for the cellar. Very impressive, but it needs ten years.

Reticent on the nose – so flat I wondered whether this was corked but there’s no TCA aroma. On the palate, this has the most pronounced acidity of the wines presented today – tart and almost picklish. Not quite a flaw, but not an appealing wine nonetheless. 84
