  • Deep colour, deeply pitched fruit. Black cherry laden with spice. Some Arum lily florals with air. Very minerally, very intense and very good.

  • Still very youthful with the most gorgeous cherry perfume. On the palate, the wine shows incredibly fine cherry fruit with a still-firm structure that leads to a beautiful layered, complex finish. Lingering notes of cherry spice and minerals remain on the tongue. This has decades more development ahead but I simply couldn't put the glass down and it disappeared very quickly. Decanted 2 hours. 95+

  • 1st of 6, decanted an hour, perfect cork and level - dark, not dense garnet, little development; black cherry, plum, hint of raspberry, mineral, lightly spiced, entrancingly complex; fullish, very long, intense and with outstanding persistence and grip, attractive even though yet to reach proper maturity, classical winemaking and all the better for that, cool complex fruit with that extra generosity of a top vintage, a treat with many years of life ahead. VF (18.5)……..divided opinion v lovely Rousseau Chambertin 2000.

  • Les Amoureuses is of Burgundy’s greatest mythical wines. Located in Chambolle Musigny next to the almighty Musigny, it deserves to be promoted to Grand Cru. Les Amoureuses is something very special, it has the concentration and depth of Bonnes Mares, and offers much more beguiling ethereal fragrance. Sexy premium oak spices, intoxicating array of flowers. Delicate yet focused. Pure with great clarity of flavours. Very flamboyant and flirtatious. Great length and delicate character. Sensational! • Nose is inexpressive, dark cherry and woody. Not full on cough syrup but certainly in that direction. Nothing in the way of Amoureuses florals or finesse, this is chunky and straightforward. Not keen on Vogue stylistically, but Amoureuses always seems to rise above and deliver an ethereal experience which was unfortunately nowhere to be found with this bottle. Not convinced that as a ‘99 this was just too young either as this was just lacquered. A little better on the palate but the nose is definitely a disappointment. Okay, good, but nothing special.

  • Very youthful but expressive at the same time. The nose is quite smoky and engaging, with notes of rose petal, raspberry cherry and spiced plum. It is full, sweet, luscious and deep. Fruit flavours are still quite primary and it has excellent cut and drive. The finish is like sucking on a cherry stone.

  • Odd aromatics that I can't place. Palate more enjoyable. Green harvested 50%.

  • Comte de Vogue 1999 dinner: Different aroma profile than the 1er Cru which is from the Musigny plot. More dark fruit, cherries, some licorice, spices. Very pure and quite some structure for a Chambolle. For me the best wine of the night. I slightly preferred this over the Musigny GC.

  • Served blind wasn't sure if this was 99 or 02. Showed quite well, is very drinkable today, and will undoubtedly improve over the years. Like many of the others, this evolved so much in the glass it was hard to pin down. Very complex and interesting wines as a whole, and this was no exception. I sat with them for hours, and felt rushed in the end.

  • I only had a small glass and thus the conservative rating as I couldn't follow the development of this wine over a sustained period. This was dark red, lots of intensity and perfume. Very floral, very rich and lots of black plums, currants and violets. Palate seemed to struggle slightly to match the intensity and power of the nose, but this was a classic Burg, with good fruits, acidity and length. Lovely wine, but I wish I had a full bottle to gauge its full potential.

  • Candied red fruit nose, cherries and oak not resolved, disappointingly simple palate and Very short finish. Tried another bottle a year ago and just as disappointing.

  • lovely deep bright red hue. very burgundian nose, starting to open and not fully there. no tertiary aromas and fruit is nearly gone, interesting but no hurry to drink up.

  • I know very young but lots more grip than I hoped for, not as much ripe fruit, highlight were the good textures. Lots here, just not perfectly in sync (yet?).

  • The 2nd testing of this wine. This time tested on the same day with La Tache 1992.

This wine shows the most beautiful panorama scents of Burgundy with a hints of chalk underneath. It's charming with the full-bodied. Round and very good acidity with spicy at the end. It's getting more stronger with time. After 5 hours of testing, I feel like drinking one of the best Cote Rotie.

Aftertaste is so smooth and stuck in the heart.....cool.....Top 1er Cru....indeed !!

    Drink it now - 2018
