in 2010 I bought 12 of 2006 tasted now..well colud develop but its rather more lean than 2006.. checked the label - exactly - 2005. Sold me some of 2005 in the case. colour rather cloudy and dark. nose: really great - the one I like - sweet cheries with tobbaco and ash, some burnt wood - fresh. The nose realy defines this bottle. taste: very good accidity, medium bodied, long and a little bit burning finish. Unstroned cherries, woody tannins - quiteb visible. Wine needs food. will act great as an accompaniamt to roast lamb. At the end finish becoming a little bit watery. Classic but lacks a little bit of something as for riserva, anyway very good stuff.

Dark red. Very tight nose on day one. also a bitter acid finish. On day two the nose opens up with nice dried cherry, plum and earth. Even the finish softens up. Very nice.

Red, ruby glow, with a perfumed nose of flowers, meat, earth and leathery minerality. This reminds me of burgundy with hints of barnyard. Well into its secondary evolution, the palate delivers in balance and power. Slightly dryer than ideal for my palate, and with good acidity, this wine will continue to evolve for the next few years. The finish is medium and satisfying, however doesn't have the stand out mid palate to make this atop scorer. Good effort and would look out for other vintages from this producer. 89+

San Felice Tasting (Ponti Cellars): Lovely nose of lightl vioet florals, meaty and brambly with crushed cherries. Appetizing sour cherries with fine well balanced tannins. Light to medium bodied. Makes for an excellent pre dinner aperttif

Restaurant. This started slow. Good after an hour but probably better with more time. Mostly leather, medium/light, balanced, bright and enjoyable. I usually don't drink from this large estate but the wines, including this one, are solid and well made. Good effort from '05.

The bottle was probably past its prime or it had leaked...

An edgy and slightly harsh chianti with a strong personality, high acidity and long finishing tannins - needs decanting for a few hours to appreciate.

Alas, overoaked! But underneath juicy Sangiovese fruit was present. Can fermented grape juice be raped?

Good intensity, cherry and amaretto nose with earth and leather notes. Dry palate, with firm tannins; good length, classic in style and finish.
3.5/5
