Friday Night Brown Bagger (J&J's): Double blind. Deep straw color. Opens with a subtle varnish/chemical note, with apple and floral notes underneath. Bright acidity. Orchard fruit, a touch older. The fruit comes forward a bit more as this opens in the glass, but hints of oxidation remain. Guessed Italian chardonnay.

A really good bottle that shows a lot of freshness. I've had others that were premox'ed, but this one was spot on. It's good to taste a properly aged Chardonnay. Plenty of life left for excellent bottles.

This is a great wine that is still not fully mature. Light golden in color, with a palate showing lots of minerals and tart apple. The wine has many years left.

A really nice wine that is still way too young to be drinking now. Good minerals, stone fruit and a good acid backbone. Don't touch for another 5 years.

The wine was a medium lemon leading to a watery rim. The lush bouquet exhibited aromas of green apple, salt rocks, spice and white flowers. The entry on the palate was a mild citrus and pristine white stone fruits that led to a clean mineral finish. There was a slightly viscous mouthfeel, but the finish was kept alive by substantial but calm acidity.

Pale yellow. Nose of pineapple and tropical fruit.
Moderately big wine with yellow fruits coming to the fore. A tad fat at this stage, but a nice acidic spine keeps the wine from getting unruly. Wine is a bit unidimensional, but well-balanced and not cloying in any way. Quite nice, should get better with additional aging. 90-91.

Quite evolved on the nose with ripe yellow fruit and smokiness lacking however great definition and precision. Premox? Ripe, nutty and evolved as well on palate with refreshing acidity and moderate finish. To be enjoyed from now.

(Joseph Drouhin Les Clos Vertical at Genius in Gastronomy) Attractive nose, yeast, flowery with lime notes. Round mouth, high levels of acidity, more angular, the acidity overpowers the rest, mineral and long aftertaste. There is something strange with this wine, it seemed to miss a connection

Wow, what a great Chablis! Lots of flint and stone, and a good deal of acid (in a good way). There's a good deal of fruit, with apple flavors leading the mix, but the fruit is masked by the minerals and acid. The wine needs at least 3-4 years more to resolve and start to really pop. It's a big wine that will certainly last 20 years.

Joseph Drouhin Dinner (Vancouver, BC): Light straw in colour. Nose of lemon, floral, minerality, crushed rocks and a touch of oak that’s perfectly subtle and integrated. Very youthful in mouth with sharp citrus flavours and lots of acid. Long and slightly austere finish with a good blast of tart minerality coming through. Medium body. This is painfully young and needs 5-7 years, probably more, before it’s going to be ready for primetime drinking. Excellent. 92+

Bordeaux, Aged Cali Cabs and Burgundy with the Benchmark Wine Group in Port Chester (Il Sogno, Port Chester, NY): I unfortunately was rushing through wines so I did not give this the attention it deserves. I remember it was fresh, clean and quite young.
