Beautiful nose of the southern Rhône. With lush fruits and all the local herbes & underbrush. The palate on the other hand was very disappointing. Flat, superficial fruits and a dominant alcohol. Development to be expected in the future? Surprising contrast between these two elements.

Main wine with the beef stroganoff for our Christmas dinner. Nice CdP, but rather simple, not very complex. Aroma’s of black cherries, figs and dried plums, bit of garrigue herbs. The palet was more interesting with cherries, red fruit notes (raspberries), koffie, chocolate and blackberries.

Second Sunday Group: 2010 Chateauneuf-du-Pape (R&D's): Double blind. Shows more dark fruit than red, with peppery spice undertones. Black raspberry fruit on the palate. Full-bodied with a long finish. The only one that really doesn't open up very much in the glass, in fact, this seems to shut down a bit. That said, it has good fruit and structure, I think it just needs more time.

4th Saturday Brown Bagger (Sue's): Double blind. Opens with a tobacco note followed by an unexpected buttered popcorn aroma, all with dark fruit underneath. Much better on the palate, showing black fruits galore along with nice spice elements. Lengthy finish. With air the popcorn note faded, all but disappearing, and it added more red fruit and pepper nuances as well. I guessed syrah-dominant Rhone blend.
Dark fruits, earth and garrigue on the nose. Good balance with red and black fruits, earth and a nice finish of rich but smooth tannins. In its drinking window but still time. Solid 91 points

Delicious red berries and traditional Rhone characteristics. Partnering with grilled lamb chops and a great outcome. Can stay at peak in the bottle for another five years.

Coffee beans, blackberry, moss, mushrooms, tar, truffle. Acidity right in place. Tannins were soft and gave roundness to the wine. So good CNDP like this makes me excited for the 2010 special cuvees.

Short note. Had over the course of 4 hours. Opened up tight and closed, slightly alcoholic. After 3-4 hours, seriously good, full bodied, good concentration and depth, a little heavy, some residual sweetness. Give it 3 more years, and it will be a superb CdP, at a reasonable price point. 91+

Silky attack and middle. Blueberry, inky, tar, pepper and with soft herbal spice. Finishes with plenty of crisp acidity, a little sharp. Drinks well but will improve.

This deep ruby wine (a blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre and 15% Syrah) was Vinturi-decanted and serially tasted over the ensuing three hours. It is a luscious, velvety-textured Châteauneuf flaunting aromas and flavors of black raspberry, allspice, earth and fennel. Medium-to-full-bodied and with low-to-medium acidity, it weaves its alcohol (14%) and generous sweet tannins seamlessly into the flavors. Solid in the middle and closing long, this is nothing more than hedonism! Use this one as a "primer" for red wine lovers who are unfamiliar with the appellation. Drink now-2022.
Double decanted for 1 hr Colour:dark ruby red, clear, little sediments Nose:bacon fat, sweet red cherries Taste:silky tannins, med finish, mored red berries and cherries. This is one of my favourite CdP houses and rarely disappoint.

- Brick color with medium forming legs and aromas of black pepper, cherry and black currant. It's in total harmony and has flavours of black pepper, blackberry and smokey with a medium/full body. Leathery texture with a long finish - 2 hour decant. Young wine. Fresh cut green pepper, pencil shaving nose. 8-10 years for next one.

This wine remains one of the best values in Chateauneuf du Pape and one whiff and sip reminded me why. Filled with black pepper, black raspberry, kirsch and jam, this soft, lush, deep wine ends with layers of spicy, black raspberries.

very bright and promising after opening. taste some anise on the (very long) finish after about an hour. 2nd day was as good but fell flat by the 3rd, as is probably expected. good but not my favorite from CdP by a long shot.

Ripe and forward with notes of black cherry cobbler along with some wet stones, floral and licorice working their way in. The beautiful rich silky texture and long finish where is picks up some scorched flavors. Approachable now, but will also cellar nicely if your willing to wait. (Best 2013-2021)

Chateauneuf du Pape, France - Tasted at Domaine: A blend from the domaine's small plots around the CdP appellation, this is a rich and concentrated wine. Forward fruit flavors of dark cherries, smoke, minerals, earth. Mouth filling tannins. Wine is closed and just needs a few years cellar time to blossom. A high quality wine for an extremely reasonable price.

taste: medium/full bodied with gripping tannins along with tones of dark red fruits, liqueur, spices and garrigue tones. The tannins really thrash the palate at this time
overall: This should be really good with some time on it. Doesn't seem as tight as some of the other young CdPs, but it's still young
