Beautiful deep yellow color, but that was the end of the appeal. The wine was oxidized, with its mineral character still in evidence, and with just a bit of butterscotch in the finish.

CT Tasting Group (My House): Nose shows aged yellow fruits, custard and chalk. There is a nice quality to this juice that provides an even flow across the palate; bright citrus and a chalky/ limestony minerality that run nicely together. Oak is still evident though was less noticeable after several hours of air. Medium+ finish. Very Good – Drink or Hold.

La Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin (Vancouver) (L'Abattoir): Light to medium yellow. Pronounced nose offers notes of heavy but classic oak (nutty, little bit of butter) with citrus fruits, mushrooms and maybe even a bit of cheesy funk. This nose was gorgeous. On to the palate with a soft and medium to full weighted mouthfeel, solid acidity and good length. Nice soft citrus flavours with nutty oak and hints of minerality. This finishes tart and fairly fresh. Drinking extremely well right now. Excellent.

A nice golden coloring when poured. A bit of acidity which blew off quickly leaving a very smooth, mature W. Burgandy! Flavors included apple, quince and pear with a hint of vanilla and some mineral compenents. Very Very Smooth! At it's peak if properly cellared!

This wine was tasted in unblinded fashion at the Vintage Wines, Ltd. wine bar. The robe is medium gold and the nose shows shows beautiful floral and citrus aromas, with accompanying aromas of marzipan, melon and crushed stones. Medium-bodied on the palate, with nice acidity, excellent minerality and a potpourri of flavors running parallel to the nose. The middle palate is solid and the crisp finish is very long. This wine is in a beautiful spot right now. While there is no guarantee that a different bottle of the same wine will not be corked or prematurely oxidized, if you are lucky and have cellared your bottle well, you will not be disappointed. Drink now-12/15.

Burgundy, France. 14% abv. Pretty light gold color--no browning--with transparency. Some lanolin and juicy apple on the nose. Also oak spices (sandalwood?) Lanolin and vanillin prominent on the palate. On the palate the fruit comes closer to lemon custard than apples. In balance even with the evident richness. Tastes like wine, not chewing on a toothpick. Smooth, silky, still young and fresh tasting. Easy drinking and pleasant but doesn't scream "Grand Cru." This was my only bottle and I would give serious consideration to purchasing again depending on the price. A wine like this calls for a white fish in cream sauce or lobster tail with melted butter and/or lemon juice or Crab Meuniere or Crab Newburg. For a vegetarian it could go with Tortellini Alfredo or a non-vegetarian might enjoy it with Tortelloni Carbonara.

pooped and poured at refrigerator temp. Color is just past a pale yellow getting a hint of gold. I bouught this on release and stored it very well. This is the last of a a half case and I likely consumed it too soon. This seems the best of what I remember. There is a fresh clean, green outdoorsy smell and a tart refreshing acidity on the palate and a medium finish. It is pretty close to what I want in a white Burgundy. Ready now if from a proper cellar. 5+12+17+8

Dark yellow straw color, long, slow legs. Nose (and palate) of butter, green apple, quince, white rocks. Probably at peak maturity. I can't see this getting any better integrated, just more leathery, butterscotchy, old.
Good long 30+ sec finish, totally clean finish. Delectable. If only this were my daily drinker I would drink a lot more!
Note that this is a 90 on a white burgundy scale, would score higher vis-a-vis a WS type rating of Cali Chard (which I do appreciate for what they are, but my rating scale is unique per each type of wine).

Excellent at cellar temp, lost a bit after chilling in frige. Drink at 55-60F if you can and it is 90+. I bought a 1/2 case on release and it tastes much better now, proving how long lived a Corton-Charlemagne can be.
Remainder in frige 3 days later was still delicious if a bit more coarse

A deep yellow coloring bordering on golden. An initial upfront burgandian acidity blew off after about 30 minutes leaving a rich, supple wine with flavors of apple, quince, pear and a hint of vanilla. Not a stupendous wine, but not a stupendous vintage. Went wonderfully with Valentine's Day lobster!

Anniversary Weekend - 2009; 10/2/2009-10/4/2009 (Minnesota): Popped/poured. This was really tough to start...tar / oak on the nose, a lot of acidity on the palate. What the heck happened? This needs some time, both to come to temperature and to get some air. The oak influence brings some resin to both the nose and palate. Also on the nose, a dusty minerality in the background, a bit like driving down a gravel road. Hint of sweetness on a complex palate as the acidity starts to fold back in. Long finish with a hint of dryness/tannins. Ideally, the my last bottle would be opened in 2 years or so, maybe longer. I think this could be a point or two better then.

In my opinion this wine is damaged by all oak. One glass is OK, but then I cannot take it. The minerals and acidity may be there somewhere, but it is hard to find. Not likely to improve - drink now. If you want a cheaper version - buy a tropical fruit and chew it with some oak chips.

Anniversary Dinner - 2008 (Home - Minnesota): Similar to the bottle from earlier this month. This one seemed slightly less resolved, with more noticeable oak. A couple more left, they'll probably need to go hiding for a couple of years.

Mature, fully ready to drink burgandy. Lots of restrained apple, quince, pear and chalk harmoniously blended. Far from being a fruit bomb blockbuster, this was a superb bottle probably near it's peak.

Probably one of the better white burgundies I've had, admittedly a small sample set. A bit of roughness on the nose initially, but this blows off quickly leaving notes of peach, rich fruit, and a smooth oak in the background. Mouth-coating on the palate. Acidity has nicely integrated, as has the oak. No signs of premox. I wouldn't hesitate to keep these for awhile, but it's drinking very well right now. Maybe even better in 12 months.

(At the Oval Room.) Graceful but focused (and long), with good intensity of citrus and tropical fruit. The fruit is accented by ripe and toasty -- indeed, almost Sauternes-like -- butter and nut. Moderate acidity and a subtle stony note help keep the balance. This is the second Girardin Corton-Charlie I've had, and neither has disappointed. And by Burgundy standards, this is a really good buy.

This has the telltale Girardin oak signature but in this case it is not as bad as some other bottlings and the wine underneath is concentrated and complex. While the wood is still quite noticeable it does not smother the other components. Quite viscous but also vivacious, showing good typicity and balance. Honey, white flowers, lemon curd showed themselves progressively over several hours such that the last sip was the last. I'd recommend popping the cork 3 hours+ before serving -OR- waiting several more years, still quite young though already quite tasty.

Had this with friends at my house prior to the Lyle Lovett concert. Good mineral notes and acidity. Very enjoyable on a warm Seattle summer eve but at this price point, I won't be purchasing more. Don't misunderstand, it was enjoyable and if I would have paid around $30 to $35 I would have enjoyed it more.

Tasted from the wine bar at Vintage Wines, Ltd. Bright disc. Light-to-medium straw robe with clear rim. Clean nose, developing beautifully over a two-hour period in the glass. The predominant aromas are citrus (orange blossom), peach and mineral. Medium-bodied on the palate, with very high acidity which is mouth-watering and overtly tart at this point. The flavors are similar to the nose but muted by the acidity. Long, tart finish. The beautiful nose on this wine suggests future greatness...only time in the bottle will tell.
