Sublime. Last of six. I wish I had more. At peak. Lovely, violet/rose nose. Tannins mostly resolved but still just enough to give structure. Powerful with good length, but still feminine. Beautiful bottle!

Always a huge fan of this wine and this one performing exceptionally well! Tons of ripe red fruits attacking the palate, at the same time it demonstrates its class in a graceful manner, rich and yet subtle, elegant, and rather poised. In a beautiful ruby red colour! Superb value, not to be missed!

Probably the sexiest second wine that I have had. Came out ready to go, although a little time in glass didn't hurt. Some good fruit still lurking, along with just a touch of green pepper that I didn't mind here. Best at just a little above cellar temp. Only thing that would have made it a little better would be for it to be closer to 13-13.5 in alc. It sits at 14 and you can feel it just a touch on the finish. In a good spot, but not in a hurry to drink up. Might gain a touch more complexity with time.

Decanted 3 hours before consuming. Drinking well and fully open for business. Despite shedding its baby fat, this is still clearly a hot season, ripe wine. Ripe fruit covers both red and black spectrum with Merlot and Cab Franc characteristics present including plum, ripe cherry, cassis, and some herbaceous tones which include tobacco. Although this hasn’t seen much new oak, there is a clear cedar/oaky note. Generous on the palate and round. Not drying. Could almost be new world. Almost. Pleasurable, if not an intellectual Pomerol. Drink now.

Drank with roasted veal and roasted hearty root vestibules. Wine was a wonderful pairing with classic merlot based Pomerol, pencil lead, beautiful subtle dark fruit and just right tannins. Wine is drinking well, I’m glad I have more

Dark fruit - plums cassis, spices, smoke, tobacco on the nose. On the palate good structure, quite grippy with a nice mineral spice. Generous fruit, good acidity, bright finish. Lovely. 91-93

As good as this was three years ago. Still with a very dark purple color. Did seem to soften after 30 minutes of air. The nose was a nice mix of plum, blackberry, spice, tobacco, and dark chocolate. Soft and silky on the palate, and with medium body. Far different in complexity and concentration than the 2009 grand vin, but this represents VCC well. It does seem that there's soft structure, so I do wonder how long this will age.

Consumed with trout and steak, both cooked on the BBQ, following a two hour decant. Floral on the nose with violets coming to the fore together with cherries, cedar and spice. The aromas really developed with time in the glass with it giving a little more each time you went back. Rich, smooth and velvety on the palate with a medium finish. Good acidity to balance the ripeness of the fruit in this vintage. A very enjoyable wine.

Might be hitting a peak drinking window. Very smooth and tannins not much in evidence, pleasant medium body with subtle black/blue fruit and hint of tobacco, this was good out of bottle and better after a couple of hours of air.

A great second wine from VCC. Dark purple color. Required little decant. A very intriguing nose of dark plum, blackberry, pepper, mineral, and cocoa. Soft, lush, and silky on the palate. Tannins need some softening. Lengthy finish. Great value considering the quality.

Black fruits on the nose. Fruity. Black currants, blueberry and a little bit oaky in the flavor. Medium to full bodied. Drinking very pleasantly. Some of my friends considered this second wine was better than the Grand-Puy-Lacoste 08 on that night.

Excellent Pomerol. Tasted as part of a 4 bottle vertical 2008-2011 by Bear Dalton from Houston Specs. Deep red opaque color, god film on glass with swirl, strong fruit nose, superb deep fruit taste, oak in background. A classic right bank Bordeaux. Majority Merlot. This is a sipping wine, better than a food accompaniment. 2nd Best of 4 year vertical 2008-2011. Price $70

Medium-to-dark ruby that slowly fades to transparent edges. The nose is elegant and refined with notes of dark and red currant fruits, vanilla, and smoke. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied with a soft, silky texture. Flavors of dark cherries, reduced balsamic vinegar, graphite, tobacco, espresso, toasted oak and spice. Balanced, elegant, delicate. Finishes long on smooth, silky tannins with a hint of clove. Drink now until 2024. 91+

Tasted alongside the 2010. Much more open on the nose compared to the 2010, nice ripe fruit showing red, slightly tart, cherry flavours, but tannins are still very present and alive at this juncture. Less complex though, with a lot more air became slightly one-dimensional as the wine thinned out, presenting a slightly bitter finish.

Drank over 2 days. Have had numerous bottles of the 09 and this was one of the best. Obviously Bordeaux on the nose, ripe fruit as expected for the year, however, some interesting caramel/toffee notes. Silky, but a bit thin initially. Drinks quite well out of the bottle for such a young wine. Day 2, rounded out and as expected, even better. Liquid graphite, ripe fruit, but much more pure and classic in style.

Lovely rich nose full of caramel, dark cherries, and whipped cream plus touches of mints and tobacco leaves; however, the palate was dense but somewhat one-dimensional with dark berries, dry earth, licorice, and mild spices; probably in the dumb phase; the finish, rather long with mostly dark berries and dry precious wood; overall, 90-91 points as it was tonight; will try the next bottle in 2-3 years.

Dark purple color turning violet at the rim with a dense nose of black/blue fruits, licorice, and Pomerol earth. The 2009 La Gravette de Certan is a rather interesting Pomerol, medium purple in colour with butterscotch and toffee on the nose with nice expressive fruits. A strong entry of plums and purple currants (expressing a nice sweetness) and slowly calms down through the palate. A medium bodied wine with slightly powdery tannins. Quite a big mouthful though, might go better with food. Nice finish. Great value.

Very good quality Pomerol of deep ruby color, the wine has an intense nose showing a very ripe fruity characters of blackberry, blueberry, dark plum and cassis, cedar and vanilla, liquorice, chocolate, meaty. The wine is youthful, and has medium acidity, with a robust and ripe tannin though still a bit dusty and requiring more time to mellow. Fairly high on alcohol for a Pomerol, reflecting the characters of the vintage and the ripeness of the grapes, this fairly full-bodied wine has fairly concentrated flavors of blackberry, dark plum and blueberry, cedar, chocolate, earth. With a good finish though nothing compared with the grand vin, this wine has demonstrated good potential and would be good to see how time can further add another dimensions. It is ready to drink now but can benefit from further ageing of another 5-8 years.

Apparently this is approximately a 50/50 Merlot/Cabernet Franc blend which has seen 12-14 months in barrel (5% new) - clocks in at 14% alc. Purple cherry in colour. A relatively fruit-driven Pomerol offering red and black fruit, freshly sawn wood, hay, dark chocolate and a hint of blood and bone. On the palate it is obvious this is the product of a riper year, yet it retains a sense of restraint and elegance. Tannins play a support rather than lead role – they are round and approachable with some 2009 richness. This is open for business and I’d recommend drinking now for its fruity freshness. That said, I assume this will become more complex over time, so hang onto some bottles for 5-10 years if you can.

Seattle Wine Group - Sep 2015 Tasting - Theme: BDX - 2009 vs. Pre-2000 (Amaroso Room - Wine Storage Bellevue): This is really rich, ripe, fruity stuff, almost over the top. It crossed the line into candied flavors, deep and dark, came across like a typical Caymus tragedy. Too muddled to identify individual characteristics or even fruit. Minimal tannins, minimal acid. This wine was built to drink days after release.
No thank you ... I say again ... No thank you (not my style)
