  • Thanksgiving wine treat. I’ll start off by saying it was a little bit of fallen expectations because I was so looking forward to tasting this wine, but it was still pretty strong on a few points. Color was a medium garnet showing a brick edge and I would’ve guessed more like late 1990s just by color. Highly perfumed aromas of middle eastern spices, rose bouquet, and crushed stones. The bouquet was beautiful although more savory (i opened it two hours before drinking, no decant). Silky smooth and full palate with bing cherry and sweet plum. Texture was very silky and it all kept improving in the glass. Lengthy finish. All in all a great DRC experience but less than I was hoping for a 2010 LT. Highly recommended.

  • Lafon Montrachet vertical with some great champagne and reds. (Four Seasons, Minneapolis, MN): Tasted alongside the '93 and '09. My favorite of the flight. Beautiful balance. Power, structure yet so well balance and silky. Very approachable now, but should cellar beautifully.

Tasted blind side by side with the Romanée-Conti. Magical nose of roses, tobacco leaves, red fruit, spices. Powerful and structured palate yet un a silk glove, so energetic, intense, deep, very classy and the length goes on and on. Amazing experience. More powerful then the Conti.

  • Decadently, exotically floral and spice. Complete, elegant and harmonious red fruited palate that delivers opulent doses of pleasure. (1063/15763)

  • Easily WOTN, and it has not moved, really since I tasted it last in 2020; so concentrated, yet fine, delicate, chalky, hitting the Pinot-nerve with all it has. Re ains one iof the best wines, I have tasted in my life. Out of this world. A romantic wine, some on wrote here - could not agree more.

  • Rose pedal, velvet so elegant, beautifully integrated. Stems. Volume. Incredible length. Tea. Meatier. so open and ready to go. 3 hours. More green but slightly falls off after 4 hours on palate. But damn this is good!

  • Reductive aromatics despite opening 3 hours prior to dinner. Haunting, floral aromatics. Incredibly fine, delicate, tart strawberry palate with length. (01053/15763)

  • La Paulée de New York Gala Dinner (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): Late night, small La Paulee pour. Really brilliant. Better tonight vs when last tasted in 2016. Exceptional potential.

  • A very, very, very romantic wine that evaporates with berries. Loved the legs.

Usually don't drop this on a wine, but heard so much about it could not resist.

Paired well with veal and carbonara.

Note: would love to taste it in 2026.

  • Gave it again a couple of hours. The finesse of the wine is impressive. Very fine tannins and a silky, shiny feel. Nose is not loud now but elegant with hints of tea, roses, chemical box. Good and consistent length. Restaurant list wine - my own bottles will wait 10 years.

  • La Tâche 1985-2010 Vertical NYC (Le Pavillon NYC): Very approachable from the get-go with the classic red fruits, violet/floral notes. Very integrated and composed on the nose and in the mouth. The notes of stem is obvious.
This is in the first flight but lasted through the entire 5hr of tasting with no sign of fading. A gorgeous gorgeous wine!

It was a very interesting style contrast and hard pick for me between this and 09 which was fattier, flamboyant in your face style.

  • La Tâche Vertical (Le Pavillon): Vibrant red and black cherry. Surprisingly open and approachable. Gorgeous stems very evident. Palate is striking up front but already has soft and easy edges. Already spectacular and hard not to love right now. I have a serious bias for older wines, but this is quite obviously one of the best in the lineup tonight. I prefer this to the ’09 and ’05, which is comparable, but a degree restrained, relatively. Each of the wines in this flight have terrific staying power and long flavourful finish.

  • DRC @ WS: Amazing addition by the host. Have loved the wine every time I've had it and it did not disappoint tonight. Full and complete, powerful and complex. So young, but the tannins were not all obtrusive. Luxurious palate and long finish. Tons of life ahead, my favorite recent vintage.

  • Intoxicating and seductive nose filled with fresh berries, black tea, bright violet, and elegant spices. So pure and graceful on the palate while showcasing incredible structure and density. Persistent finish that goes on and on. It just kept improving through the evening. Would love to taste this in a decade or two. Wow.

  • With 6 hours in the decanter this is a wonderful wine, even though still a little early to drink. The nose has early hints of tea and roses, but is dominated by attractive forest strawberries. The palette is very giving and broad. And the length spectacular. Tannins are very fine.

  • From a magnum this time. Much younger and restrained than the 750ml bottle in February. Still lovely, red fruits, lofting aromas, smooth and regal, long but with muted complexity. Hold your magnums at least until 2029.

  • Very approachable for a youngster. This vintage exudes class, and will likely take its place among the elites over time.

  • At first super tight, young. Tart, sour but incredibly pure strawberry, then black cherry zingers, with a medium finish. After two hours in a decanter, elemental purity of fruit, aromas of roses and strawberries, juicy and clean, great length, but still young. Really good. 97-98 with another decade.

  • How to rate this? It is a wine out of this world, really, like a fairy tale; like Kraka, this is naked and still dressed, full, yet fasting, the balance is impeccable, it is chalky, airy, elegant, yet immensely concentrated and goes on forever, layer upon layer. This has a long life ahead, but the fact, that you can drink it now, speaks of the mightiness of 2010.

  • My first experience with DRC. This was truly incredible. The finish was like sucking on a stone, but in the best possible way -- so mineral driven. Such an elegant wine, so complex and nuanced, and still very youthful. I've never had a wine that before that was so elegant and light on it's feet, while also being so powerful. I would love to see what this is like in 10 years.

  • 11113/15763. Started out gravely funky for a bloody and meaty wine. Mature red fruit, soil, minerals, green. Palate is so soft but complicating, body rustic yet compelling, finish textured but smooth. Incredible potential from here. 97+

  • Quite smooth and elegant at this young age. Will be a great one. 97+

  • Tasting pour at Cole’s Chop House in Napa. Wonderful opportunity to try it on a small scale! Absolutely dynamite nose of raspberry fruit, cigar tobacco, violets and mushrooms. Elegant, cherry fruit , earthiness in a good way and long subtle persistent finish. Great length but I expected a little more depth? Youth?

  • Nose 100. Palate 95. Nose is captivating. Bright modern red fruit. Pepper, mint, cherries. Palate is still good, nice fruit some earth. Great staying power. White pepper.

  • During a La Paulee dinner, so no detailed tasting notes. Very ambitious to bring this youthful LT to a Paulee. Can it even be approached? Not nearly as closed as I thought and no doubt a triple digit wine. While the haunting aromas have not yet developed from all LT I had so far, this had the densest, most complete palate. Breath taking but wait at least till 2025 before opening this.

  • Surprisingly elegant at this young age with notes of allspice, clove, violet, lavender and light earth on the nose. Clean, smooth and pure on the palate with an abundance of sweet fruit. Developing nicely, just needs a lot more time

    Markante tanniner i finish.
    Helt drøy vin!
    98-99p

  • 2nd Most Epic Burgundy Dinner (Boulevard - San Francisco CA): Served blind in what turned out to be a nice Vosne flight. Superb spice and red fruit. Incredibly elegant but backward. Also clearly showing the expected La Tâche spice, but I was surprised when this turned out to be from 2010 because it didn't quite have the concentration I expected (yet). 95-96+ point potential.

  • 2012 DRC dinner (Operakällaren): A much more mature colour than the 2012. A spicy super-open, super-layered perfume. Mature Pinot-characteristics, developed, complex, juicy, red fruits. Exceptional wine.

  • Annual DRC tasting dinner in Stockholm, to check out the 2012’s.
Since one of the two La Tâche 2012 bottles opened tonight was corked (first time I have experienced a corked La Tâche) a bottle of 2010 was opened as “compensation”.
I have had this wine before, and it is without any doubt one of my top three wines, ever!
Last time I had it was 1,5 years ago, and this was surprisingly developed since then.
The color showed a much more advanced color than I would have ever expected, almost as if it was 10 – 15 years older than it is.
I perhaps guessed that this should be much less expressive and open than it showed.
The nose is to die for, with such depth and still such airy and clean, with sexy feminine bright red berries, perfume, transcendental & lovely red flowers, roses, rose petals, dusty dry quarry minerals, touch of pencil lead, deeper dark cherries.
Layer after layer of incredible perfume and scents.
Best nose in a young wine I have ever experienced.
Palate just roars of an exceptional Grand Vin.
The transparency and lightness in combination with the power and depth are beyond words.
The silky fruit, the spicy stems, the fine oak, the femininity together with the power and flesh of the fruit, in combination with the airy and transparent roses and flowers, the acidity and minerallity is of a kind and combination that can’t be describe in words, but has to be experienced.
This is perfection in a bottle, almost alien, completely of the charts intoxicating.
Advanced, but still young, in a weird combination, showing youth but also development.
A wine that I would drink any day, from today until the end of time.
    (100 – 100+)

Finale explosive. 96-97

  • Lovely sexy nose! Red berries, spices, perfume, tea, roses, burnt underbrush, expensive oak and punani.
Lovely flavours :-) Very good acidity. Lovely mineral :-) But very light for a La Tache. Extremely feminim and subtle. My experience is that La Tache have more power to it than this one. To explain the energy in this wine I have to compare it to a Tsunami that never hit the shore. Extreme energy reveals in the middle of the ocean at the depth of 10000 ft, but you don't see more than a crumble on the surface.
This is a school book example of transparency. Some green stalks that give this masterpiece more backbone.
Long, long finish. Red berries left in my mouth :-)

This will be a perfect score in say 20 years.
I must say that this wine performs even better today, april 21.
The DRC 2010 is starting to close the door. My recommendation is to wait until 2019 - 2020.

  • BREATHTAKING!! This wine was served blind to me and wow oh wow! The kind of wine that makes the small hairs rise and gives you goosebumps! And all of this blind! I'm not sure why I don't rate it 100 because my emotions with this wine were that strong, but I suppose there's always that little thing you can still improve? Not sure what that would be with this wine though. I will not try to describe it as I don't feel my humble writing skills would be able to do it justice. Ethereal, airy, bright, zappy, lively, incredibly intense, hovering above just about any other great wine I have had! Why lord, oh why is it so rare and expensive? Cannot imagine I would ever grow tired of this. The nitpicker in me found the oak slightly unresolved as the temperature krept up and with extended airing. I guess that keeps me from rating it a perfect 100 but please note that this is in no way doing this incredible wine any justice!

  • 2010 DRC Tasting: Coming off the Richebourg high I was anxious to see how the La Tache would compare. The nose was cooler, more airy but substantially more complex. Dominated by dark fruit, but more red fruit than the Richebourg the nose exhibited powerful spice, earth, more funkiness, wet stone, strong floral notes and minerals. Tasting this right after the Richebourg was a very instructive moment. It was like going from a 2.0 megapixel camera to a 50 megapixel camera as so many more details that you didn't think were missing in the previous wines suddenly became apparent. Concentrated and powerful, yet supremely elegant red fruit, rose petals, a minty note and the stem note was much more evident. Great earthy character. Extremely long finish with outstanding grip.

  • 2010 DRC tasting (Stockholm): Powerful nose with strong animal notes with some dung heap, dark cherries, some blood grapefruit, flowery notes with violets, gravel, hints of iron filings, spice and some stems. Definitely elegant. Palate with cherries, quite concentrated, powerful mineral tones with gravel and mint, noticeable spice notes, medium+ tannins, good acidity, long aftertaste. Young, needs time, 98+ p.

As usual, La Tâche is a larger and tougher wine than the rest, and shows more traditional Burgundian character with some evidence of stems, i.e., a hint of green notes. Will it peak at 99 or 100? I hope I'll be able to find out, some time in the far future.

  • 2010 DRC Tasting: Now we see a big step up as the LT shows a beautiful Asian spice box nose over a core of red fruit aromas. The nose here is really singing. There are deep, rich and perfectly balanced flavors on the palate that display a wonderful intensity without an ounce of heaviness. This is a wow wine and really quite special.

  • The nose starts quietly, as if it has more deference to the taster versus the brashness of the RSV or the youthful arrogance of the Richebourg. This then shows intensity and yet also a real restraint and a lack of fleshy body, as shown in a streak of dryness on the mid-palate. With some time the nose starts to evolve, showing a bit of stemmy and fleshy fat and even some sweetness as it opens but also with the 2010 bitter concentration. This is a wine for the cognoscenti and not those who do not yet understand Burgundy. However, as good as it is. I think that it shows less length and complexity versus the best years of La Tache, such as the 2005, 2009, 1962, etc. I hope that I am wrong!

  • Barrel. Dark, spice, mineral..explosion of fruit on the palate...Long, long...very approachable now. Relative soft tannins. Good structure and balance. Super La Tache! Probably will rate higher than 96 in time
