Had the other bottle almost 5 years ago. The wine doesnt seem to have budged and if anything is more powerful now. Big, strong red with pyrazine and burnt graphite. Great QPR from Napa.

Massive fruit still and big, beautiful acid. The beginnings of tertiary are showing on the horizon. This has plenty of life ahead, depending on your taste.

1.5 hr decant. Pours an orange and deep red. Nose of chocolate, coffee, ripe fruit, and maraschino cherry. Mouth feel is medium, slightly thinner than expected. Deep core of ripe red fruits, coffee, peach pit, and gravel. Delicious, very easy drinking, glass empties so quickly. Lacks power and stuffing of greater wines but I still think its worth the money and a crowd pleaser.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+: Dark core with garnet rim; some green pepper, currants, floral, juicy, tobacco; fresh acid, oak integrating, quite taut, good drinkability, not what I was expecting stylistically having had newer vintage recently- much more old world personality.

This is my third bottle of this wine. The last I tried about 10 months ago. This one was much the same as the last. Good integrated flavors of plum and ripe bing cherry. Tannins have receded to the back ground. Good through to the third day.

Nearly impenetrable deep red. Boysenberry liqueur, violets, minerals and hints of fudge are all present in the 2010 Prince of Hearts. It is medium-bodied, with a plush texture and mostly resolved tannins. I imagine that this is at peak now, but certainly is in no danger of falling off a cliff anytime soon. Still, I would drink this over the next few years. 92.

I opened a bottle of this wine 26 months ago and found it to be tannic the first day. This bottle was much different. Tannins have settled down and integrated. Flavors of dark fruit such as plum and bing cherry. A much better experience than previous. The merlot shows through and there is a notable lack of the spiciness of Cabernet. Still, an enjoyable bottle.

Really wanted to like this but was a bit hard to get a read on. At first open I did really enjoy as I thought it had a nice burst of dark berry and currant and with a fairly long finish. But with air it actually seemed to die down a bit and the fruit became more muted. Others thought it OK as well but nothing special.

Every time I open one of these I like it more and more. (lucky I have almost 2 cases of it) It is really singing now and might be my favorite wine for the money! Hints of cherries and plums. I recommend an hour decant still but you can PnP. when the air hits it WOW!

Prune and eucalyptus on the nose. On the palate, plum, raspberry, currants, blueberry, and notes of cocoa, white pepper, and tobacco/ash (probably from Cabernet Franc) on the medium to long finish, with moderate tannins and good acidity. This is a good Napa-style Bordeaux blend, fruitier than a typical French wine without going over the top. This is probably at the beginning of its drinking window, and it may yet improve for a few years as it integrates the last of its oak and tannins. Very good value for money at a bit over $60.

Deep, dark and delicious, this wine was initially overly spicy on the finish, but it smoothed out nicely with a couple of hours of air. My only complaint is a bit too much vanilla on both the nose and palate.

Overall, 2010 is not as approachable as 2009 now. I still remember two years before 2010 was much more approachable than 2009. The nose is darker in 2010 with animal leather, dark cherry, and cedar. After sipping, creamy vanilla, chocolate, and blue berry are found. Then, the ripen tannin makes mouth watering to maintain a about 30 seconds lasting. In my preference, 2009 is more NAPA style, and 2010 is closer to Bordeaux style. If you have both 2009 and 2010, please enjoy 2009 for these two years. Leaving 2010 in your cellar for at least 3-5 years will make 2010 to be a much better treat. By the way, 2011 is a terrible lose for the winery.

Spice, cigar/leather, licorice, cherry, mocha, and raspberry. What makes this wine distinctive is the the bell pepper component from the cab franc. Silky smooth and great balance. Watch yourself, this wine goes down way too easily.

The 2010 Prince of Hearts opens up with aromas of black raspberries, plums and a hint of mint. Medium-bodied in the mouth, with big, sweet plummy fruit and nearly completely resolved tannins. Very easy to drink now, and is clearly at peak. Could use a bit more cut on the finish, but that is a minor quibble in what is an otherwise very fine drink. Drink now - 2020.

This wine was really firing on all cylinders tonight. When first opened it seemed somewhat overpowering with notes of mint, but this quickly resolved into a lush, deep, layered wine that was quite spectacular.

Much better than the bottle I had a year ago. The mouthfeel was a bit lighter than I expected after a more rich, complex nose. But, that more feminine feel worked very well, as everything seemed to be working in harmony. Hard to think of a better bottle at this price point.

A softer California wine. Didn't enjoy that much. I prefer softer wines have more supple flavors that I can distinguish in a finish that won't be over powering. I thought the flavors in this were slightly muddled and didn't get the softer fruit that should be indicative for this structure. This wine quickly left the palate. Disappointing for what I paid

My second bottle of this wine. Liked them both. First was early last year. This one - Lots of red fruit both on the nose and palette. Lead pencil and charcoal there too. Dark ruby in color w/ medium legs. Really nice Bordeaux blend. Nice second wine.

Decanted for 3 hours. This wine has a softness to it that allows it to be very drinkable. Silky tannins on the finish that helps balance out the fruit.

Very nice and not to CA “heavy” on the palate. The Merlot seems to have really softened this up (tannins wise) compared to the 1st wine. Not much to add to the other tasting notes except that this seems to be closed at this time in regards to the finish. The nose is dramatic on opening then fades, then after a one-hour decant opens back up to show some nice spicy aroma with red fruit with some olive notes too. Would not touch for 2 years if you really want to enjoy its potential. It drinks very easy after 1 hour and Merlot chocolate taste starts to come thru (very nice). As the vines from the great vineyard get older and if the selection for this 2nd wine stays constant this could be a great wine for the high price ($69). Will try to buy some of the 2012 next year upon release.

PnP'd. Aromatic nose of blackberry, cassis, lead pencil and menthol. More Right Bank than Left, which is surprising given the preponderance of Cab. Medium bodied, long finish. Well crafted Bordeaux Blend made in Napa.
