Jura Focus Tasting: Chalk, musk, lemon, florals and slate. Quite sweet fruit on the palate, it is quite light intensity though. Not much power or depth, but still good drinking.

Pale gold. Bubbles very fine, numerous and persistent. Nose and palate loaded with yeast/toast, citrus/tart apples, honey and vanilla, and floral notes. Moderate alcohol (label=12.5%), medium acidity, and mid-level brut sweetness. Rich, creamy, long and complex. The best of the three Tasmanian méthode traditionnelle tasted this week.

(Pre-Road-Trip Brunner) Clean, light florals, minerality. Bright acidity, vibrant florals on taste. Crystalline. Lovely brioche and baked pastry on the finish, with milk-powder and honey notes. Clean.

Part of nine bottle lineup... small bubbles but consistent. Tends to be a bit sensitive to temp increase in glass. Very nice- on the taste, clearly different from Champagnes. Still young, would be nice to revisit in few years, because my overall feeling is that it was not enjoying a fair competition with 7 other champagnes and a cava along side.

2014 Sydney Royal Wine Show - Exhibitor's Tasting & Trophy Wines Lunch (Homebush & Four Seasons Hotel): [trophy-best sparkling] Has been a very consistent wine for the couple of times I’ve tried this over the last year or so. Weighty, seemingly-chardonnay dominated fruit flavours, with plenty of autolysis character, still amazingly fresh. Small bubbles, long finish. Fantastic wine with years in front of it.

7 Tasmania Wineries Jan-14; 1/9/2014-1/14/2014: {cork, A$70} Seven years on lees has kept this tasting stupidly young. Grapefruit and biscuit aromas and flavours, medium-bodied weight and small creamy bubbles add up to an even palate of great length, held up by plenty of crisp acidity. Lovely wine that can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with any Marque’s (non-reserve!) vintage offering.

Champagne Tasting: Floral with apple and slate. Light and fresh, it is well balanced by some medium bodied fruit. Has good length and should get better in bottle.

2013 Sydney Royal Wine Show - Exhibitor's Tasting & Trophy Wines Lunch (homebush & Darling Harbour): [Trophy – best sparkling] Developing nose of strawberry and smoke. Similar palate; quite aged, with red berry memories and a fine swathe of delicate bubbles. Classy, medium-bodied, dry, with cover palate coverage and good persistence of finish. Combines age with some freshness still. Pretty good, but not better than Champagne at the same price, which I was kind of hoping for.

Bright straw with fine bubbles. Quite a clean bright but complex nose. Great zing on entry, transitioning to cream and fruit. Great length. Good balance. Some yeasty savoury aspects, but lots of bright acid and fruit.

2012 Sydney Royal Wine Show - Exhibitor's Tasting (Olympic Park, Homebush): Gold Medal. Developing, yeasty/brioche nose. Dry medium-bodied palate rides on fine creamy bubbles and showcases leesy chardonnay-influenced flavours. Classy effort which covers most of the palate well; solid medium-length finish. Good wine, but at A$50-ish retail there’s plenty of competition.

The nose starts with honey along with some classic sea spray elements and some interesting grassy notes as well. The texture is thick with an almost oily mouthfeel, chewy bubbles and a big spicy finish. Really good.

Low-med level of fizz, ripe fruit, gently sweet. Subtle richness. Very nice restrained. Drink up.

Syrah vs Shiraz...you tell us (Chez Garard): Crisp, good flavor, good bubbles, bread and depth on the finish.

Richer, softer. Very good. Cork was soft with almost no pop but bubbles were good.

Lemon curd, red apple, white flowers and fresh citrus. Lovely yeasty, biscuity flavours. Beautifully fine bead. This is top tier sparkling.

Very good indeed. Fine bead, restrained nose of yeast and fruit and a powerful yet graceful body. Excellent fine acid. Ten years young.

A fantastic champagne-style, better than many French. Very crisp and dry, full bodied.
Drank with lobster and seafood in Hobart.

Bay of Fires and House of Arras Tasting (Prince Wine Store - Bank Street): Wow - this guy is going places. This wine is already looking more complex and textural that the 2003 - which is already pretty good, and yet at this young age it is still very delicate and balanced.
