Deep dark fruit on the open, with blackberry, cherry, and blueberry all present before transitioning to a velvety lingering finish of baking spice, creme de cassis, chocolate, and earth. This was a very big and very young wine. I felt like the nuances within the wine, while nice now, will require more cellaring to fully express themselves.

Pop and pour. Just a fabulous, balanced, precise CdP with fruit compote on the nose and a balanced, precise, evolving palate of raspberry cobbler, rhubarb pie, au jus, and blueberry compote all contained in a medium body with a very long finish. Just terrific now although the experts give it decades of evolution.

Enomatic sample. Young appealing black and blue fruit. Very young impression would almost have thought 2015. Sourish cherries with garrigues. Rich, dark with some earthy bitterness. Very fine but grippy tannin. Big, coarse and in need of a lot of time in the bottle. Would keep for 10-15 before trying it. Great potential if all comes together though!

Still good, but lacks depth and complexity compared to the 07 I drank some year ago. Classical C9DP, medium finish and round cherry and red berries taste.

Stunning levels of depth, richness and concentration, yet nothing is over the top, hot or even close to too much. The lush, corpulent textures, silky tannins, and waves of fresh, sweet, ripe and very ripe berries leave a mouth filling impression. With time, this could hit triple digits!

Another extravarganza at Søllerød Kro with T & AD (Søllerød Kro): Very young, very concentrated, very balanced, this really is a very good example of the vintage, and tasted vis-a-vis the 09 and 06, this shows the majestic quality of the vintage. The wine, of course, should not be touched for ten years, but I have high hopes, that this could actually live up to the name of this often dubious cuvée.

Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2010 - Check-up on 20 Top names; 4/1/2013-3/18/2016: Medium purple. I opened this bottle with quite some interest. Difficult to get and always highly rated. Medium purple. Reserved nose of dark fruit and licorice, lots of minerals and herbs of Provence. Interesting, not at all Grenache in style. On the palate again highly reductive, reserved with lots of aromas waiting to show in a few years but now holding back a bit. The strong point of this CdP is that there is no sweetness/heaviness to it. Wait till 2020. 96+

Stunning wine with great complexity and a touch of earth. Still vibrant and young so no hurry here.

A 40th Birthday Celebration, Lunch Edition (Elements Restaurant at the Sanctuary - Paradise Valley, AZ): Magnum. Unapologetically modern styled. Baking spice, vanilla, liqueur and blackberry jam but with great density and impeccable balance. Way too young to fully appreciate, but I can see this as a 93++ point wine, even if not necessarily the style of Chateauneuf I prefer.

From magnum, way too young. Gingerbread aroma was quite strong. Very dark color. Tough to evaluate, leave this wine alone at least a decade.
