Three years since my last bottle; this one was pristine relative to the last one which was showing a bit mature. Typical Roulot profile, with maybe a bit more flinty reduction than usual. Delicious, though certainly a stylistic preference.

Popped and poured. Spicy lemon infused nose with some richness buffered by a flinty mineral note. Lively palate, ripe but with good tension and lift on the finish. In a wonderful drinking zone.

Advanced, with a nose of ripe apple trending toward bruised, but the palate shows a bit of minerality and recall to a vibrancy of more reductive days past.

Poured blind alongside the '11. Even knowing what this was, I would not have guessed these two as being the same wine just one year apart. Rich and starting to mature, this is a substantially bigger and fleshier wine. Have been following this wine fairly consistently for five years, and it feels like it is now at peak and should be on the nearer term drinking list. Excellent wine, nonetheless.

as apposed to the 2011 of this wine that was consumed side by side, this was showing very nicely, open for business. great zippy orchard fruit with overall lovely balance.

The nose has some rockmelon, white peach, almond butter and smoke. The palate is going a little honeyed but you can still feel the wine's chalky dry extract.. It is a good drink but lacks the usual Roulot verve and punch because of some mild oxidation.

Quick splash in the decanter and this came out ready to play. Slight hints of some toast at first, then richer aromas of apples and minerals. Perfect balance and precision. To me, it was coming on as I got to my last glass, but very good right now.

The nose is reduced, showing a healthy dose of sulphur and some citrus elements. Wow the palate is taut, linear and very acidic, with teeth jarring tension that is almost out of balance. I love Roulot but really struggled with the sulphuric reduction and acid tonight.

Starting to shed it's forward fruit and showing some signs of maturing. The nose is a bit muted. Always thinks the Meix Chavaux shows some grapefruit. It still have a little of this. Very slim profile, minerals, agrumes. Very balanced. Guessing it will improve the next 2-3 years.

At least the 6th bottle of this I've had over the past 2 years. This bottle shows signs of shedding some of it's youthful exuberance, and is clearly moving into it's next stage of life. Still vibrant, but starting to round out and show a bit more power. Intense and focused, this wine continues to impress.

Spicy, mineral infused aromas with a hint of sulphur and grapefruit. Knockout palate, refreshing acidity buffered by perfectly ripe crisp and intense fruit flavors. For my palate the texture and mouthfeel doesn't get much better at this price point. Finishes long with a bitter, grapefruit element that is refreshing. This is the kind of wine I love to linger over and savor over the course of an evening.

Dinner with Gavin at Bistrode: Mineral, smoky, spice, orange peel. So full and flavourful on the palate, with a line of that smoke from the nose embedded throughout. Superb texture, this is already delicious but could age for some time as well.

Spectacular. A very large whiff of sulphur to start, but once you get past that, this just unfurls its splendour. Powerful citrus peel aromas along the lines of grapefruit or pomelo, followed by a faint hint of tropical fruit. The palate has that whole Muhammad Ali "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee" thing going on. Wisps of intense concentration and minerality, but never heavy. Clearly made from ripe fruit, but never cloying. This bottle is a study in paradoxes, in all the good ways imaginable. Mind = blown.

Wow - this is sensational. Huge mineral-driven nose, followed by an explosive palate...crammed with more chalky minerality. Bright acidity puts a backbone to the ample fruit that virtually dances in this wine. For its level, this is astounding - that is the mastery of Roulot (like Coche and a couple others). Tremendous wine that surpassed my expectations.

Every Roulot is a good Roulot. Drank 1/3 of a bottle of this with langoustine. Still very young, grapefruit, texture. Long finish. Excellent potentiel and should be just great in 2-4 years.

Some Wine Tasted at the Zachys Auction; 10/27/2017-10/28/2017 (Charlie Palmer Steak - Washington, DC): Cross-section of rich apple aromas and flavors with some baked apple. Good length, very good balance. Roulot personified, with the reduction entirely dissipated. Very good now.

A lost Friday afternoon gathering – 75 Trotanoy, 07 Roumier BM and 10 Jobard Les Tillets that we all guessed at the Roulot. (Blacksalt, Washington DC): Served blind, medium expressive nose displaying ripe yellow fruit, lemon curd, honey, caramel and steely mineral. Very good concentration, rich and oily, ripe sweet yellow fruit driven palate impression, strong mineral presence and a medium finish with a hint of caramel and mineral at the end. Everyone is confident that this is Jobard as it is much heavier and a bit cloying. When the labels are revealed, we are all shocked.
