I haven't tasted this in several years and it is still a big, bold California Bordeaux blend with the same rich, penetrating dark fruit that it had last time I tasted it, but tonight the sharp edges have rounded down and it has become abit more civilized. Quite nice and, I think, still has a lot of years ahead of it.

Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Black core with tiny plum rim; sweet dark fruit, blackberry, velvety Syrah-like fruit, sweet, chocolate cake, plush; big palate, tar, violets, vanilla, higher alcohol but the wine supports it, very rich and compact, good balance; drinking well now and more for near-term enjoyment.

This is a very nice Napa Bordeaux blend. Big, rich, bold blackberry, cassis, tobacco, leather, licorice and abundant black pepper on the long, satisfying finish. The dark fruit in this wine is deep and palate coating. The tannins are still quite firm and chalky. This is drinking well today with a few hours in the decanter, but might be better if left alone for another year or three.

And this is their 2nd wine? Most producers wish they could produce a wine this good as their flagship! Has everying one could want from a wine at this price point and more. Drink 2015-2025

This is a dense, full bodied wine with flavors of deep cassis, licorice, cocoa, leather and firm, grippy tannins. The syrah component seems to dominate at this time. While obviously new world, California styled, there's some subtlety and nuance to the fruit that has some old world characteristics. Although abit young and fairly tightly wound, this is quite nice today with a couple of hours in the decanter.

Tuesday Night Double Blind Tasting, $40+ (Bin 75): Really dark, completely opaque. Big, rich. I thought maybe Syrah, guessed Paso Robles area '07.

Consistent with previous notes and the tannins have softened abit. This is in a good place today.
