Bra greier!

En-Primeur campaign for the 2021 vintage; 4/25/2022-4/29/2022 (Bordeaux): Blackcurrant, a little sweaty note, slight tomato leaf, raspberry, sweet spice, a sense of freshness with a meaty underpin. Juicy, fresh, slightly sour though fresh, concentrated red over blackcurrant, a little cocoa powder, tannins are drying, woody, a little savoury spice, finishes quite dry. Nice.

A post-lockdown weekend with friends; 5/1/2021-5/3/2021 (Copse Hill, Lower Slaughter): Opened and allowed to breathe but not decanted. Still big and tannic. Softened a bit over time and worked ok with the cheese board. Benblu's note seems right on ("Classic off vintage Bordeaux - some tobacco leaf on the nose, quite tannic with a tad lack of fruit and a lean mid palate") but feels like this still has a while to go.

Bordeaux dinner (Studio Neon): Blackcurrant, plum, pretty, very slight raspberry, sweet spice, a little dusting of cocoa, very slightly jubey but also opulent and fleshy. Tannins are silky but talc textured and persist long joined but the fruit that is more plummy that blackcurrant on the palate. Nice. With time in glass that chocolate note grows ion the nose, it becomes softer and more generous without losing the opulence, the blackcurrant comes to the party on the palate a little more, lovely.

Classic off vintage Bordeaux - some tobacco leaf on the nose, quite tannic with a tad lack of fruit and a lean mid palate. Good one to drink now with some red meat to soften the tannins and I wouldn't age this too long as it doesn't have the stuffing. Drink now-2025

Note: 16,25/20 i.e. 91/100

Joanne Bordeaux Trip 2018 (Bordeaux): This was richer and darker than the other vintages in the lineup, showing brown spice, blackberry, plum and hints at bitter herbs. On the palate, I found silky, fleshy textures with ripe red and black fruits, yet I was craving more energy from the wine. The finish was medium-long, lingering on wild berries, spice, and soft tannin.

Tasted next to 2015. Quite a contrast obviously - less seductive, less dense, less generous. More obvious structure, more green pepper, minerality, grippy tannins. Having said that, there is good balance and decent fruit and really decent length. Just a bit thin and angular after the wonderful 2015. 90-92

Wine Spectator Grand Tour - Las Vegas: Aromas of black tea, spices, fig, currant and cedar. Rich and full palate, with red fruit and seamless spice and floral depth. Fine tannins. Nice finish. Really nice, and in a good place.

WS Grand Tour 2018, New York. Nice combination of black currant, dark cherry, blackberry, prune, chocolate and mild vegetal aspects as well as gravely notes. Fine tannin, good acidity, very good length. Not the most concentrated, but reasonably smooth and well balanced. Good wine. 91 for now.

Agree with prior note. Very well balanced. Elegant even by Margaux standards. Secondary characteristics prevalent. By no means excellent. But very good considering the vintage.

Coravin'd and drank over an hour +.Solid all around. Good balance, not particularly muscular but sufficient structure. A softer, easier going Margaux. Very pleasant, worth the $30 but wouldn't buy for $60.

MW Institute 2011 Bordeaux Tasting: Raspberry, brier and peas. The palate is very lean and feels like it falls away short. If the green notes settle then this may well be better but they are a little distracting right now.

Second Sunday Group: 2011 Bordeaux & others (Mike's): Notes of raspberry, perfume, herbs and red berries, showing just a little hot. The bouquet turns darker and more ripe as it sits with plum overtones. Full-bodied and firm with flavors of dark fruit, plum, herbs and clay. No slouch, but not showing as well as some others today. 91-92 pts.

From a blend of 56.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and for the first time, a small percentage of .5% Carmenere has been added as well. Forest aromas with leaves, kirsch, flowers and spice, this medium-bodied, soft and round wine ends with a fresh and bright black raspberry and cassis finish. 90-91 Pts

Violets, cranberry, licorice nose with a fine soft palate showing chalky tannins that don’t show until the end of a long finish. Nice concentration. Seems strong but not a lot of depth here. I’ll guess 89-92
