Spectacular! Wine of the night even against a top line-up of 2010 Cote Roties from Guigal and Rostaing. Beautiful golden yellow. All the waxy and richness of the Hermitage but a beautiiful lemon core that brought freshness. The nose is full of honeysuckle, vanilla and abricots transports you. Rhone whites are so special and this was particularly good. Served from magnum bottle and not decanted but opened 2 hours before serving.
Medium reflective gold. Sweet banana leaf on the nose with a bit of Meyer Lemon and kumquat that comes out over time. Positively zinging with compressed energy with strong acids that I haven’t seen in many (if any) Northern Rhône whites.
Unctuous texture and the acids leave the tongue tingling. Starchy notes with lemon water, guava, pineapple, and a melange of tropical fruits. Spectacular.
Just wonderful! Lots of tropical fruit and well integrated oak. Dried herbs on the finish. Paired great with grilled lemon-basil chicken over olive oil/basil/lemon/tomato pasta.

Just not getting much here. Waited more than a year after last bottle. Faint tropical fruits and mushroom on the nose, tropical fruit on the palate. Two hour decant softened it a little. Well-balanced, but didn’t seem to have long finish of last year’s bottle. Good match with roast chicken with morels and cream, but expensive bottle for a pedestrian wine experience. I’ll wait at least another year to try again.

We really had trouble understanding this wine. Opened it last night, and decided it was a poor match with the sole meunière. Pumped it and put in the fridge, and took it out long before dinner tonight. Served with roast chicken. We got very little on the nose. Slight petrol/mushroom indicative of age. Viscous and full in mouth. Very good acidity. Tropical fruits. Extremely long finish. Extremely! Developed well during the evening, but has a prominent bitter note on the finish and is a little hot. I recommend opening this hours before serving. Not sure what some more time will do here.

Tasted next to 2011 L'Oree. A little less depth maybe, but equally layered and complete. Great acidity, richness of tropical fruit, minerality, beeswax, spices, honey. Great intensity and persistence towards the finish. Excellent. Drink or keep. 94-95+

Everything I had hoped for. Luscious, concentrated, viscous, bursting with pear and honeydew, and complexity from some bitter notes that I don't have the wherewithal to identify. Long, long, long finish.

Fairly Clear 24k gold color color. Somewhat subdued nose of pineapple,
Filled with tropical fruits with notes of papaya dominating with banana leaf following as a close second. Unbelievably nuanced and intricate structure with each layer building on the next with faint lemon zest, cream, tropical fruits, and a bit of manchego cheese rind. Intellectually fascinating, though not terribly to my taste.

A baby and much too young, of course. Tastes more like a Grand Cru Chablis today with a wall of minerals and citrus notes. Wait 5 years, if not 10 years before next hit. At home with the boys.

This is an intense hedonistic white wine that conjures an almost dystopian, ethereal, and psychedelic response. Burning motor oil and caramel-glazed white lilacs on the nose. On the palate, the purity of the fruit is astounding, with peach and apricot dominating. It's very fresh and floral. Touch of honey and beeswax caresses the palate near the end. Finish lasts long with smoke, stone fruits, and lilac dancing on your tongue. Medium to full-bodied. Unforgettable.

Very fresh. If you had told me this was a nice white Burgundy I would have believed you, it was very subtle and delicate. Very tight finish. The nuances on these higher end Rhone whites are lost on me as I mostly just have experience with the reds in this region, but this was a delicious wine and everyone loved it. My gut based on the finish is that this wine has a lot of room to evolve...
Selection Parcellaire Masterclass with Michel Chapoutier (Maison Vauron, Auckland, New Zealand): Very impressive nose featuring an impeccable balance of aromatics - mineral and smoke to the fore - in a spectacular refined fashion. Massive legs. Impressive opulence in the mouth - more oaky than the L'Oree. Notes of smoke and vanilla on the finish. Smooth texture and gorgeous proportion. Spectacular modulated finish that lasts 45 seconds. Bigger and arguably less refined than the L'Oree, this is a superb white Hermitage in the modern school.

Deep golden honey colour. Delicious and beautifully balanced. Honeydew melon, pear, vanilla, almond paste, and a judicious level of waxiness.
