Remarkably pale, young and austere this atypical Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey might blossom with even more bottle age. For now though it’s about the acid, minerals and steel. More mid palate richness would be most welcome. Very odd for soft vintage 2011 white Burgundy which is mostly beyond peak or fading.

Burgundy For Lunch Bunch Holiday Event 2023 (Phoenix, AZ USA): Young, tense/nervy, with a loooong finish that makes the mouth water. Lovely wine that clearly showed itself to be related to wine 1 in this flight -- which turned out to be 15 PYCM BBM.
Served blind, I thought this was Ramonet as did everyone else at the table. The reveal was shocking, it had none the reduction that we often associate with PYCM of this era.

Big, boisterous and bold. The acidity is not quite up to the task, however. Oaky. Ripe to over-ripe yellow fruit. It’s a good drink but rather tiring and does not resemble a classical Chevalier-Montrachet. Not much detail or nuance.

This wasn't open initially, and unfortunately I didn't get back to it over the course of the long lunch. Those that did indicated the improvement was significant. Judgement reserved, on a vintage I've not tried previously.

As a non pycm fan, this wine is very enjoyable for me. Nose has some match stick, minerals, lemon zest and vanilla oak. Palate has very good acidity and salinity but its very elegant and precise. The oak is a bit prevalent at this stage, like most pycm white. It has good potential if you give it another 4-5 years. 93 pt for the potential. 92 for tonight.

Already a marvelous drink, this is supremely elegant, which is the sine qua non of Chevalier for me. Medium full, pale, fragrant, complex. PYCM does it again.

Restaurant Fred (Rotterdam, Netherlands): A bit of petrol and reduction dominating the nose. The palate is painful intense with precise citrus, acidity and minerality on the balanced and long finish. Superb refinement and power without weight. Though it needs more time …

Leiden in Rotterdam at Fred: Match stick nose, which blows off in time. Powerfull, buttery nose, broad shouldered. Taste citrus, tension and nervosity, very complex, balanced. Long soft finish.

Serious pineapple, peach and some citrus along with a pungent minerality. Very rich. This is intense yet already delicious and needs time to fully develop.

The Full Monty: Smoky, floral perfume, peach, chalk and lemon - the aromas expand over time in the glass, with the ripeness showing but never feeling out of place. The palate shows great purity and style, the acidity gives it vibrancy and verve. Has grip and structure, but it is already a beautiful, beautiful wine.

Splendid already. A forward and voluptuous style of Chevalier, so not for purists. Extremely Meursault-like which is not be a problem for me. Chock full of nuts and brown butter. Rich in texture, flavor and finish. Not sure how this will age, it seems almost ready now. The contrast with the Leflaive was obvious since the Leflaive was shy and delicate.
