Similar to my notes of 6 months ago. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark cherry, plum, raw meat and a touch of cedar. Finish was moderate to long.

Decanted through a Vinturi and let sit for two and a half hours before returning it to the bottle and taking it to a local restaurant. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark cherry, plum, raw meat and a touch of cedar. Finish was moderate to long.

Reviewing 2009 Barolo (Javier's Place - Madrid): A "generic" Barolo that is very young, plenty of strength and grip. Abundant but without any depth. Bored most of the time. Its time will come, or not. Who knows ...
Un Barolo "genérico" que se muestra muy joven, con fuerza y agarre. Abundante pero sin profundidad. Aburrido la mayor parte del tiempo. Su hora llegará, o no.

Opened for two hours, recorked and took to the club for the Sunday night buffet. There we pulled the cork again and let it sit for another hour. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark berries, plums, red meat and a touch of cedar. The finish was moderate and full.

High toned red fruit, candied cherries and florals on the nose. Tart cranberry and cherry on the palate, a little thin through the middle but all in check to a shorter than anticipated finish. Well made, but a little low down the quality scale for me to consider again.

Nice wine. Light in color, with a slightly orangish rim around the edge. Aromas of cherry/black cherry and pipe tobacco. Taste of red fruits and cherry. Dry and tannic but softened with an hour in the decanter. A nice, but not a great Barolo.

Rock solid, correctly made, everything as it should be. The wine lacks charm but shows plenty of focus. It should continue to evolve over the next few years.

Nice pale colour with thick viscous legs that immediately let on the 14% abv - a couple of hours in the decanter opens it up and softens the tannins quite a bit. Dried rose and crushed violets , red sweet fruits and later some black cherry , dried cedar bark and tobacco. Medium on the palate with a nice acidity while showing off fruits in good balance. Long dry finish with a pleasant savoriness. Good to drink now ( amazing how much modern Barolo has become approachable) but will keep another 5-7 years. Enjoyable but needs patient drinking.

3/5 - opened about 2 hrs before dinner, double decanted. Nice cherry and floral aromas, still quite dry and tannic, shows promise, but will need a few more years to settle before really opening up.

We opened and let it sit for an hour or so while we drank a 2010 Brunello and then poured through a vintorio. The nose was dark fruit, the palate was dark cherries, rhubarb, coffee with a touch of sage which came out on the long smooth finish. I have to disagree with my fellow trackers as while very approachable now I believe this wine will improve with some bottle age.

Nice, but slightly one dimensional and light. Medium ruby color. Aromas of cherry and coffee with some hints of pepper. Medium bodied with refined tannins and fresh acidity. The finish is medium long with a spicy twist. I don't expect that it will significantly improve
This wine paled in comparison with the '10 Cannubi we had from the same house during the same lunch.

There's a pepper-encrusted cherry hiding inside this wine. It's not ripe yet, but it desperately wants to come out, peeking from behind it's spicy coating. It holds up nicely to a steak, but it seems a little simple. It could use some more quality time in the cellar.

Marchesi di Barolo Winery Visit (Marchesi di Barolo Winery in Barolo): Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of red fruit and earth. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol, refined high tannins, full body. Pronounced flavor intensity, with flavours of sour red cherries, redcurrant, earth, and mild spice. Long finish. Very good quality Barolo. Will improve over the next 10 years. Traditional Barolo. Only Slavonian oak used.

Wonderful with traditional Easter meal. The bold fruit notes balanced with the lamb.

Ripe cherries, elegant and minerally, with sufficient acidity. Probably in the peak window, with a little more time ahead of it.
