Grand Cru White Burgundy Fest: Mostly front palate at first, all treble, lacking bass. However, more air did it well and it started to fill out in the middle. 2011s seem to need quite a bit of air right now.

Well this was just stupendous. The oak is nearly fully integrated, completely congruous with the wine’s substantial body. Flinty, mottled of white melon and smoke. On the mouth it’s explosive and long, buttery just to the right amount, fully rounded and tongue coating.

[Magnum] Clear pale yellow colour. Fortunately a completely clean bottle. I am critical of my bottles at a group tasting but I think this was an honest smoke show tonight. Traces of the signature Leflaive reduction / sulfur / smoke nose and more in the way of light golden tropical fruit. Booming / wafting nose. Bombastic and tropical. Rich and dense but not heavy; zippy. Both mineral and creamy. Loads of yellow fruit power and energy. Lots of life ahead. Precise and lengthy. Very impressive, very lucky.

This wine is so good. We drank this along with three other superstar whites, and it drives such a "superior" white burgundy profile (i.e., there is a a lot of white burgundy out there, but only a few producers that deliver a unique profile that defines the region). This wine’s bouquet just pulls you into the glass with its mix of mineral, wood, floral and oak. It is light and clean on the palate and the finish. With premox behind us, Leflaive is delivering the goods.

Absolutely no premox problems here. Fantastic acidity and fresh citrus fruits and a amazingly complex palate. Had been opened 6 hours prior but still developing throughout the night. Absolutely fantastic wine

White Truffle Extravaganza (Aria, Atlanta, GA): It needs air, which brings out honeysuckle and lemon, almost delicate with a pleasantly tart finish, it drinks well if a bit austere now.

Served blind. Bright intense citrus, this comes across as very young Chablis at first. A lot of mineral, first thinking Raveneau, but doesn't have any of the signature aroma of Raveneau. As it warms up in the glass and breathes this becomes clear it's not Chablis, it becomes creamier and my best guess is Meursault. I'm thinking '11 Lafon, but not very confident about that guess.
Nobody at the table got this right, but we were all just happy to have a Leflaive that's not even remotely close to being oxidized. Maybe we have a Leflaive here that can go the distance?!

A whiff and you'd prepare yourself for a huge, rock filled puligny with a bit of weight. However on the palate, light, delicate and gentle. Very nice but not monumental. A lovely compliment to caviar if not hugely memorable.
Great Wine Dinner with Friends (Sepia - Chicago IL): Clearly lots of oak, but able to remain unobtrusive. Very ripe with very good density. Wonderful for several hours, then starting to lose energy after 2+ hours. Very good to enjoy now through 2023.

Madison Offline 2017; 8/24/2017-8/26/2017: Plentiful citrus and oak, lacking the flint and mineral presence I was hoping for. Very fine but not showing impressive depth or breadth. Age may help, but not enough to make me a buyer at this price.

GMs - Kevin Burgundy Dinner: Expressive and powerful nose of matchstick, lemon, saline notes, white florals and orange. The fruit and acidity is a step up on the 2010 B-M next to it. Builds and builds across the palate, with the sweetness of the fruit restrained by superb acidity. Layered and textured, this shows its class even at this youthful point in time. Awesome wine.

Wow. Pale straw green color medium body and silky racy texture. Wet stones lemon zest on the nose followed by green pear and honeysuckle on the Palate. Long finish. Vibrant acidity. Wine should age. Showing as a grand cru should, delicious. Highly recommended

Mouth feel hugely different than nose.
