Big, dark, brooding. This is well made Napa cab. It is notably devoid of the clawing sweet garbage that turns me off to so many of these wines. It is not subtle but with grilled ribeye, this wine does its job well. Not really what I buy anymore these days - I'd rather drink Bordeaux - but this is well made cab.

Decanted for three hours, consumed over two nights. This opened nicely and is very Bordeaux like. I would say it has peaked, but should hold well for a few more years.

A classic Napa 2010 Cab. Silky smooth but not unctuous in the least. Perfectly balanced. Blue fruit, black fruit, lead pencil. Tannins have rounded out. Exhibits the freshness of the cool vintage. Happy to have a few left. I’m calling it at peak but will glide at this level for years.

Very solid Cabernet blend. I would have scored higher by a point or two if it has noted that it was a blend on the front of the label. As a Cabernet it was not a powerful or elegant as I would have liked at year 10. I just move from 90 to 91 as benefit of the doubt. However it was softer tannins and more appropriate for those who like Bordeaux blends. Softer tannins. It is muted due to age. A good wine, just know that it is a blend.

Hands down, one of the best, if not best, Napa Cab I have ever had. Dinner with 4 wine drinking buddies. All agreed, not just WOTN, but maybe wine of our history of drinking together!

30 min decant. Deep dark magenta color. Blueberry, dark chocolate, dill, leather and black cherry on the nose. Very smooth, dry palate. Full, round tannins on the long finish.

Another great AO wine. Not one of the best NV cabs I have had, but very nice. The AO II remains a great value in comparison, but this wine is a good change of pace.

Slow-ox for 4 hours and then a 2 hour decant. Showing nicely. Great nose of black and red fruit. Continues on the palate along with firm tannins and graphite. Lots of fruit and some heat as well. This one feels like it's got several more years left. But as others have said here- with a decant it's drinking very nicely.

Nice Wednesday night bottle... if only every Wednesday! I decided to pop this to celebrate a semester down in graduate school. Decanted for about 4-5 hours on the suggestion of a few recent reviews, and drank over the next few. After two hours this was starting to show, and was great once sitting down to eat and enjoy with some pasta. Definitely decant, but it's ready to go if you want to open.
Well this was a weird wine experience. The first day it was closed, muted, kind of boring actually. I would have agreed with wine enthusiast 89. However, I corked it, put it in a way too cold fridge, and had the other half the next day. It was a totally different wine. Open, fleshy, deep, dense, extracted, tons of dark fruit and some leather. Some new world vanilla and chocolate. Day two was amazing. Perhaps ppl need to decant the bejesus out of this and serve it cooooold.

This is drinking very well. A classic cab with good fruit and tannins, nothing overripe. Paired well with burgers on Saturday and pizza on Sunday, and does well on its own.

Consumed as the last bottle of the night. Popped and poured. Ready to go from the start. No noticeable tannins, just nice dark fruit, blueberries and a touch of blackberry.

Just as good as it was the last time I tasted this about a year ago. Lots of freshness to the sweet, ripe, polished fruits coupled with a zippy, finish.

Youthful wine with very forward tannins and quite fruity on the palate. Initially, it was too young/tannic/tart for my taste, but over 36 hours it softened a bit - the real revelation is that this is NOT a wine to be drunk without accompanying food. This wine became terrific 36 hours later when paired with grilled apple-raisin stuffed pork chop with pomegranate-mango glaze. The tannins were neutralized and the fruit complimented the course terrifically. Enjoy this wine with white meat and a fruity glaze.

Impressions from a weekend in Napa Valley Day 2 (Napa Valley): Powerful cabernet, doesn't have the same earthy tones on the nose as the Prop red, but has a riper nose of mocha and sweet cherry. Far more tannic and more masculine than the prop red. Like the prop red, I wouldn't recommend opening one now, but give it some time to settle in. I think once the tannin settles it'll be very rewarding.

76/8/8/8 Cabernet/Merlot/Cab Franc/Petit Verdot. 22 months 80% new French oak. Nose shows delicious profile of dark fruit, cedar, vanilla, fresh black plum, dark chocolate. Palate matches, pretty classic Napa profile of lush, approachable, savory, dark layers. Chocolate, slight spice, black cassis, fresh herb like tobacco.

A big step up from the 2009, there is more concentration of flavor with its black and blue fruits, oak, earth and smoky black cherries. Plush, round and forward, drink it now, or age it a bit.

Napa Valley Wine and Food Excursion 2013; 9/30/2013-10/5/2013 (Napa Valley, California): This opaque crimson offering is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot. On both the nose and palate it weaves together a complex mix of kirsch, truffles, allspice and citrus peel. This full-bodied wine's structure is impressive, with fresh acidity, substantial fine-grained tannins and seamless alcohol (14.1%). Nicely layered in the middle and very long on the finish, this is quintessential Napa Cabernet. Enjoy it for many years to come! Drink now-2030.
