This was hands down the best wine I've tasted in a while. Half hour decant. In such a perfect place right now showing incredible balance and depth. Mouth watering on the palate and near perfect from start to finish. I don't hand out scores like this lightly (this is as close to 100 as I'd probably ever go) but this is deserving of every point. Spectacular wine.
Excellent wine in a perfect place (drunk from magnum). Secondary flavors coming through with a touch of tertiary, although it is holding up well. The wine is packed with desirable flavors and aromas but remains light on its feet -- never jammy or cloying or heavy.

Decanted and poured, this wine gave an excellent to almost outstanding showing. The shows a wonderful combination of youthful and maturing notes the combine to give complexity and depth. Medium to full bodied on the palate with excellent length and balance on the finish. This is probably at or around its peak but should continue to drink well for many more years.

2 hour decant, little sediment. Drinking very well. Herbal notes of thyme& rosemary, light, broad and long on the palate with rich aromas. Surprisingly light in appearance but an iron hand in a silken glove on tasting. It complemented a rack of lamb & shitake mushrooms to perfection

This wine is drinking very nicely now. Decanted and poured straight away. Appealing red cherry colour with not too much difference between the core and rim. Whiff of alcohol that blew off. Slightly muted nose; more woody earthy rather than fruity. Red berries, cherry, sweet fruit on the palate; slight bitter note, in a nice way, on the finish. For my taste, better with food as the acidity contrast is very appealing. Complimented the fresh ginger in my Chinese influenced chicken supper surprisingly well!

Decanted for an hour, came into its own after another hour-plus of slow drinking. Medium bodied. A subtle deep fruit aroma with a slight “pool floatie” smell. Rich cherry, lower acidity, like cherry lozenges. This is a subtle wine, that started to reveal more secondary flavors, especially licorice in the long finish, toward the end of the bottle. Patience is rewarded with this one. Drink or hold.

Another slightly underwhelming bottle from VT. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, but I didn't detect much beyond an easy-to-drink forest-fruited beverage; there's more interest and panache from Grenache (for less money) from places like South Africa and Spain, and I didn't find any herbs or leather or any of the other things that can make CNDP so characterful. A pleasant, undemanding food wine I guess.

Dark red colour with some brown. Nose old and sherry like. Palate oxidised fruit all gone. Drinkable but unfortunately went down the sink. Life too short. Further note: Faulty because opened another yesterday and was beautiful.
Note : 16,75 / 20 I.e. 93-94 / 100

Well, CdP is not my favourite cuvee but this wine is from exceptional quality. Light red with watery rim but no signs of age. The nose is full of sweet strawberries and cherries, herbs de provence and liquorice. The palate is exactly what the nose promised, the grenache is a bit too present the first hour. This wine is so powerful, with great balance and a long lingering finish. It is at its peak and will stay there for years. Respect!

Wow. This is gorgeous! Medium cherry/mahogany with bricking, orangey rim. Slightly muted but extremely inviting, complex bouquet (and I use the word deliberately). Wow, complex, earth and floral, lilac, braised cherry, baked strawberry, very nuanced. Subtle, elegant, precise - really beautiful wine.

Decanted for 2+ hours. Nose was a bit odd with brie odors (ok not so appealing)... BUT, when drinking the cheese flows into the background. The wine is absolutely smooth from beginning to end. the Grenache grape is evident and it is just nice.

Decanted for 1 hour, rich, ripe, pruny but good balance, quite accessible but years left, a good VT but not great, not as open & ready as the 2011 Pegau 91

Still youthful, showing a lot of primary fruit. Firm tannins but shows the ripeness and forward nature of the vintage. Might have benefitted from decanting.

I discovered this bottle in my garage with some other wines, including a Dunn Howell Mountain 2010, and in comparison the VT survived beautifully. Crème de Cerise aromas, lots of cherry fruit on the palate, great balance, pepper, licorice and garrigue. I’m impressed.

First of the 2011. Family party, so limited chance for notes. Deep, dark red / black. Huge, young and enjoyable. Smooth, lingering, all fruit, no hints of age or leather yet. Very popular.

Really quite good. Balanced, especially with 90 minutes or so in the decanter. This really came into its own about halfway through the bottle as the spicy blackberry and kirsch began to balance out with leather and tobacco aromas and tastes. Just enough tannins and acidity to keep this balanced and I'm sure age nicely for 5-10 more years.

Medium bodied, forward and quite easy to taste today. The elegant, fresh kirsch, garrigue, peppery strawberry and olive character is already coming through loud and clear. Not a wine to age, this is perfect for early drinking pleasure.

Ruby in color, a nose of dry earth, white pepper, spice and perhaps sagebrush. Tastes of cherries, plum, some blackberry and undiscerning spice. The flavors were somewhat intense. The wine was focused and balanced with silky texture and harmonious tannins. This was a medium bodied elegant well balanced wine.

Pouring by the glass at the special contraption at Striphouse. This was a very nice wine coming on the heels of a cheap malbec (so perhaps showing even better in comparison). Didn't take detailed notes, but liked the balance and a touch more savory bits to it. Enjoyed.

Decanted for two hours prior to serving - big improvement detected from opening time to serving time. There is no sediment in the bottle. with dinner of soy/sake marinated flank steak, asparagus & rice. Deep red garnet color in glass. Lovely aromatics of dark red berries, currants and forest floor. The wine is definitely full bodied with good grippy tannins. Not overly fruit forward in anyway, but lots of long lasting liveliness on the mid and back palate - very long finish. Flavors that stood out for us were tobacco and leather. Much more open and accessible after getting a couple of hours of airtime int he decanter. We really enjoyed this wine!

Ruby red and translucent with watery edges. It's young and needs an hour to open at which point it becomes almost Bergundian, silkier and achieving equilibrium. Flavour is red currant with burnt vanilla and a splash of jaegermeister. After a further hour the jaeger has dissipated giving way to dried figs and a higher score could be warranted though its lacking body.

Very well made. Ruby red in the glass. Fresh red cherries and white pepper nose. Dry, full bodied, high acidity medium plus tannins medium plus alcohol. Bravo. Flavors of red cherries, red raspberries, baking spice, herbs, hints of smoke. Balanced. Delicate texture . Beautifully done and put together. Fine chocolate finish. Very well done and highly recommended.

I don't drink much CdP these days, but this was really nice.
Plum and garrigue on the nose and palate. Light/medium body, good acidity. A very pleasant wine, no heat, no prune. An earthy undertone provides complexity and interest.
Has a nice freshness that is lacking from the "better" vintages.

Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): From 375 mL bottle; see through crimson core with slight orange in rim; fig, raspberry, cherry, marzipan, faint blood orange, deep and Burgundian; good depth on palate, nice freshness, spicy, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, great balance, blood orange in finish; good, lots of fat that time will need to shed, tasty.

Fantastic CnDP, not a huge fan of the southern Rhone red styles, but this iconic wine delivers the goods. ... only medium ruby, medium viscosity.
On the nose, tightly coiled medium plus intensity, lots of red fruit, cherries, raspberries, plum, red licorice, blackberries and blood orange (yes), cedar, sandalwood, pepper, leather.
Palate matches nose, red fruits very much at the forefront. Medium plus tannins, acidity and body (not full) and complexity.
Needs LOTS of time to unwind, cellar!

Every other time I've tasted young Vieux Telegraphe I've hated it (love it with a decade or more, by the way). This one was decanted for about eight hours and when I tasted it blind I loved it. Light, good floral nose. A little bit of Provencal spice. Good finish. Others that I've tasted young were disjointed but this was elegant. A nice surprise. This was my wine of the night in the formal tasting.

Tasted along side the Telegramme. The Telegraphe was the definite winner, and is worth the extra $50. My pallet was not up to par because of a cold that was coming on, so it is not fair for me to score this wine. Huge floral nose with some nice light ripe red fruit. On the pallet it was a typical delicious and elegant Telegraphe with light red fruit, strawberry, sweet pomegranate, honeysuckle, and floral characteristics. If I were to put a rating on this with my limited pallet I would give it 93 points.

Young and aggressive. Probably a lot of Syrah and Mourvedre because I tasted smoked meat, white pepper, hard black plum, some garrigue. All that was spices in a pure hard Grenache red-fruit. Not very sophisticated for VT, but solid wine.

Half bottle. Light ruby core. Overwhelmingly floral nose with traces of red fruit. Lighter weight, supple, open and again dominated by floral pastille and pomegranate fruit. Little in the way of tannins. This may be the easiest, most accessible Vieux Telegraphe I've tasted over the last 35 vintages or so. Neither great nor built to last-enjoy now and over the next 5 years.
PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs -brilliant dark ruby core -grenache-y, pine, garrigue -med acidity, lighter weight but mid-palate quite sappy, red berry, iodine, garrigue, med tannins, slightly medicinal with a certain harshness, good minerality -while this isn't aromatically closed down and is on the lighter end of the CdP spectrum, I think it needs more time to settle down the harshness, stylistically similar to '08

Slightly closed and shy on the nose, showing ripe cherries, spices and herbs. More concentration and power compared to the 2013 on the palate but with decent freshness, lift, good fruit, round tannins and good length. A bit of heat towards the finish. 91-92+

Still slightly muted, but nice aromatics of kirsch, pepper, red fruits and some herbs. It's medium+ bodied with medium+ acidity and medium+ tannin. Good length. It does neither have the structure nor the fruit of the very best vintages, but still a very nice classic CdP.

Decanted and poured, this gave a refined and expressive showing with red fruits, spice and granite on the bouquet. This wine gives and elegant and balanced showing. The color is a translucent medium to dark ruby that is youthful and vibrant. The medium bodied palate shows less power and density than the previous two vintages of this wine; however, the refinement and focus provide an excellent counterbalance. This is drinking well now with decanting and may improve with an additional year or two of bottle age.

Lots of spice and pomegrant and orange peel and really, really darn showy on the nose. Palate is a bit tighter. Its either really good or just really darn hedonistic after all the red Burgundy that I have been drinking. Maybe just a touch of rasination upon the second taste.

Thin red-cherry hues in the glass. Excellent concentration on the palate without being overbearing or heavy. Light and on it's feet! Beautiful combination of medicinal herbs with forest floor and dark, stewed fruits. Roses and licorice. I did not expect such a powerful finish, as it lasts for 30+ seconds ... a beautiful CdP.

Working with wine 2014 seminar 1 - Rhone varieties (Sofitel, Sydney): Medium minus intensity aromas of red berries and muted spice with a certain warmth and floral/perfumed almost rose petal top notes. In the mouth the wine has medium plus acid and is rich, velvet textured with flavours of red fruit, spice and a touch of residual sugar. Front of mouth fine tannic grip carries long and is well balanced with the other components. This wine is subtle, elegant, quite light weight and very nice. Lovely.

Maybe a bit early. This was $26/glass at FT33 in Dallas. It paired very well with their lamb. Cherry and pepper on the nose. Slight licorice and pepper on the taste Already very smooth and integrated. Remarkably, to me, no sense of tannins; it did get better with time in the glass, so not from a bottle that had sat open. Generally though a bit softer and less dramatic than I would have expected and thus overall a more subtle tasting CdP than I had thought was going to be present.

Decanted and poured, this wine presented and softer and more elegant profile. The aromatics display red fruits, spice and rock notes that well proportioned and balanced. The color is a youthful, translucent medium to dark ruby. The medium bodied palate is balanced with a medium length finish, soft tannins and subtle acidity. This wine shows moderate structure and concentration. This drinks well now and may improve with a year or two of additional bottle age.
