Small pour, given to me blind. Youthful color is hardly showing any signs of development. Really amazing sense of transparency. Stony minerals give off an almost Chablisienne feel. I guessed 2011 Raveneau Clos. Wow.

Very nervous, moving forward. Crushed rock, orchard fruit, flinty, green apple sensation on the palate. You are not drinking this wine but the wine is drinking you. I bet this wine has another 10 years but I really enjoy this energetic nervous style right now.

Oak and orchard fruits on the nose. Great acidity and minerality, but the wood tannins are strong and bitter on the palate, especially after time in the glass. Needs lots of time to resolve the influence of oak, and it’s not clear to me that it will get there gracefully. In comparison, the 2012 Genevrières was riper, but displayed none of the oak bitterness.

Has a ripe and expressive nose of peach, almond butter, honeysuckle and spice. As it hits the mouth orchard fruit flavour floods every crevice. It is generous, charming and unctuous and its minerality kicks in on the back-end providing freshness and cut. It has awesome power and length is superb.

Winos' excellent adventure in France; 6/22/2017-6/27/2017 (All over France): I have been blessed to drink a dozen or so Coche Perrieres in the past year. It is fascinating how consistently great they are. Based on two bottles of the 12 Meursault village and this, I have to say that the 12 Coche wines are drinking incredibly well. Expressive energetic nose displaying opulent white and yellow fruits, pear, white peach, apple, lemon curd, Coche flint, strong limestone and a hint of oak a la sesame. Incredible concentration, dense and oily yet fresh and pure, bright acidity, strong mineral presence and a long sweet finish with a hint of flint and white fruit at the end. This is a hedonistic wine that is drinking incredibly well. It will also improve for a couple decades.

Wines for Christmas Goose (San Francisco): Opened last night, tasted blind. Big, spicy, oaky wine. I guessed young Meursault versus Grand Cru white Burgundy versus a dry Loire Chenin Blanc like Saumur. Nowhere near ready, overwhelmed by wood. Not to my taste.

A private lunch (Restaurant Pure C *, Cadzand, NL): Such a joy and privilege to taste this as the superlative of the Meursault village 2012 tasted yesterday. The house style is clearly discernible, even if there is far less matchstick and more fruit and salty minerality on the nose than in the village. It is rounder and less mineral than some other Perrières I have tasted - maybe it is the weight of the vintage? The youthful flesh almost completely envelops the acidity. It is powerful and concentrated, but playful and elegant, in a calm and confident way. The oak is noticeable only immediately after opening, and completely disappears within half an hour. It is already eminently drinkable, but it only hints at the complexity that will develop over time (peach, lemon, crème patissière, apple, pineapple). It is however anything but monolithic; drinking this wine now is more like watching a dance of seven veils through a fog that only time will lift. The finish is savoury, layered and extremely long. So relaxed and comfortable to drink, that you could easily fail to recognise how special this is. I would love to revisit this in 6-10 years, but I doubt another bottle will come my way. Score based on perceived potential.

2016 Villa d’Este Wine Symposium - Kelly, Alan and Kevin's excellent adventure; 11/3/2016-11/12/2016 (Villa D’este, Lake Como, Piedmont, Milan and Frankfurt): Expressive decadent rich nose displaying lemon curd, lemon oil, spice spices, Coche flint, smoke and a hint of limestone. Excellent concentration, oily and deeply toned, succulent, lemon oil and pear driven palate impression, bright acidity, medium mineral expression at this early stage, and a long dense finish that resonates. Still quite primary. It will evolve similar to the 09, ie the fruit attenuates and the mineral emerges. I may be Coche bias but this is in the upper 90s for certain for my palate.

Even more intense and a much stronger matchstick and flint note. Broader in the mouth. Outstanding rich, ripe, but not over done fruit. Amazing precision on the painfully intense finish.

Potent nose of butter, popcorn, lime, walnut, vanilla oak. Another taster said sea breeze and I couldn't agree more. Wonderful palate-caressing oily viscosity in the mouth; it almost feels like it's jiggling on your tongue. A touch of chalk to the texture. Super-long finish. Refreshing acid. Outstanding, but to my palate not nearly worth the enormous price premium over other delicious white Burgs.

We had the 2011 last year and the 2012 is another step up. It shows the richness of the vintage coupled with incredible depth, intensity and cut. It smells of orange blossom, citrus fruits, spice and smoke. It is painfully intense in the mouth, almost drawing blood with its cut. The finish is grapefruit juice mixed with chalk. Length of flavor is incredible.

Wines Tasted at HDH Auction (Tru - Chicago IL): Served alongside the Coche-Dury 2012 Meursault Les Chevalières. Enticing aromatic start to both of the wines. I found this Perrières slightly more intense with greater depth of spice and apple. The flavor profiles however were very different. with lots of Meyer lemon, ripe apple and pear coming through here with great depth and concentration, almost perfectly framed by acidity and structural support. Already sensational today with great long-term cellarworthiness.

Acker "Paulee" Burgundy Dinner (Capital Seafood - Beverly Hills CA): Paulee style dinner. Brilliant aromatic start with bright and energetic textures from start-to-finish. Apple and quince start strong, end even stronger. Great already now.
