Oxidized already but not unpleasant. Honey green plum, hint of iron, strawberry biscuit, dried Mango and caramelized lemon. Still slightly bubbly. A bit similar to Selosse rose, but more linear.

Wine Workshop: An evening with Cristal (Atera - 77 Worth Street in NYC): This was a wine that actually benefitted quite a bit from some time in the glass. While the regular '89 just jumped out from the get go at you, this one started a bit more muted. Red delicious apples, very crisp (I think the acidity softening also helped some other flavors to come forward). With more time I get a hint of rose petal and maybe a bit more age character. Very nice wine.

Still fresh and vibrant. Really surprised as I thought this one would have shown some wear after lugging it all over the world and back again a million times. Such an amazing wine experience. Words cannot describe it other than what it is.

It's a decent Rosé to be sure, but it isn't very special, which Cristal Rosé should always be. Pretty light red color and decent mousse, so a well preserved bottle (from WW, in its original gorgeous presentation box). Modest bouquet though and flavors of medium intensity. On the positive side, there was an interesting combination of fresh and mature and distinctive from white Cristal. Perhaps Cristal Rosé is better younger than older.

Lovely nose of ripe strawberries and cream. More brioche and yeast than the '89 Blanc enjoyed alongside. Candied citrus fruits, marmalade, and sugar coated strawberry. Honeycomb and powdered sugars. Wonderful but the Blanc was superior tonight. The effervescence here blows off pretty quickly.

Was in great nick. It was power coupled with finesse and had an engaging aroma of fresh strawberries, rose petals and meat. It was voluminous with a creamy mouthfeel and a strong line of minerally acidity. Great clarity and focus.

Extraordiry wine...Still quite bright and extremly rich this mature champagne had everything...citrus, big bread notes and was perfectly balanced from top to bottom...delicious

An absolutely stellar Rose. Yeasty and slightly sweet on the nose. Taste was exquisite....just sweet enough with a beautiful structure and backbone...don't miss it...

Brought to an Acker VIP dinner at Cru. Finally, the 3rd time is a charm. The first 2 bottles had some kind of funk going on. This bottle was completely different. Someone called it "smoking" and it was served after the dessert course. Yeast and strawberry and a little tomato sauce (?) on the nose, excellent acidity, more strawberry and a touch of caramel on the palate. Very smooth wine. Too bad this was my last and only good bottle from the 3-pack.

Same as the last bottle I had a few weeks ago. Stewed oranges and pizza sauce? JK and Josh agreed it was funky but didn't think it was corked. It may have been a little cooked which would explain the funky consistencies between the two bottle that came from the same 3-pack.

Pre-'90 France Dinner with Dr. Robinson and friends. I thought it would be nice to start the occasion with a bottle of Champagne, and even though it was corked, you could tell this would have been a great Champagne. I am going to open another one in the near future, hopefully with a different outcome.

Candies, caramel, herbs and strawberry on the nose and palate. It still possessed fairly good freshness and energy. 92-93

I've drunk this cuvée 2 times:
- the first in 2012, it was absolutely delicious and magnificient
- the second in 2020, itwas clearly tired and passed his peak by far

similar to 88 and 85 in this flight tired. Candied fruits, caramell and milk chocolate but not with that typical cracking acidity. 93

Christie's Smith Haut Lafitte Dinner (RPM Steak - Chicago IL): Never had this before. Nicely mature and certainly ripe, but with a fascinating combination of red berry and mushroom hints together in big, beautifully textured package.

Doing Well by Doing Good: A Private Dinner for a Wonderful Cause (A Private Home in Bel Air): Advanced and starting to fade, with notable oxidation, but still very pleasant. A dense, heavy wine. Notes of mild caramel, wet wool and yeast.
