Strange metallic aftertaste which lasted even into the next day. G noticed it too. Very disappointing after an enjoyable first bottle from the same vintage around two months ago.

Pnp, this is drinking beautifully. Dark garnet, bright nose, intense, smooth flavors and a great lift on the moderately long finish. Tannins are very smooth. The CT drink-by date of 2020 seems about right, possibly a little conservative.

Drank 2-3 pours at winery party. Delicious. No hint of “greenness” as in previous notes, very smooth and integrated. Nice long finish. Great with cheese or a little bread. No bitterness or “dry mouth”.

somehow this didnt work out the way i thought. In Jackson Hole with Olly, Jennifer, Albert and Billy. Great evening. Flank steak. Had decanted for about 2 hours. Smelled good. The first tastes weer ok but we had a magnum of 2008 hospices de Beaune before which was great. This wine didnt speak. Maybe it was closed. It tasted as if well made but just no oomph. Too bad

On the nose I get smoked meat, dried herbs, eucalyptus, blackberries. On the palate I get eucalyptus, spicy bramble berries and blackberries, Virginia tobacco, black licorice, a long finish of dried herbs. Going to give it a 92. It's an excellent wine though at $60ish I don't think it's worth the price. Tastes more like $40-45. I, unfortunately, paid $70 at the winery. I will not repeat that mistake. I had it with smoked hamburgers and it paired perfectly. I think it would be a great barbecue wine if you can get it on sale somewhere. I have to say I obsessively sniff wine glasses after I've finished wines. There's just something about the lingering scents. On this one, not only do I get a lot of oak but I also get a ton of cola which is strange because it didn't show up at all when I was drinking the wine.

Winery tasting. Hmm... nice nose, but very muted on the palate until you get to the dry finish. Not what one expects. Perhaps drinking a bottle with food is a pleasant experience, but in the context of a tasting, not entirely satisfying.

Napa Valley Wine and Food Excursion 2013; 9/30/2013-10/5/2013 (Napa Valley, California): This deep ruby wine shows nice aromatics and flavors of red currants, cardamom, dried herbs and dusty oak. Unfortunately, both the nose and palate have notes of green olives and bell peppers, both serving as a detriment rather than a complement. Full bodied, fresh and with seamless alcohol (despite being listed as 14.9%), its structure is otherwise dominated by very rustic tannins. These same tannins are what give the wine a mouth-puckering middle and a dry finish. Time in the cellar will not improve the "stemminess" of this wine but it should help to resolve some of its harsh tannins. Drink 2016-2023.

Baked plums, spice, mineral, red pepper and blackberry. So long, velvety and absolutely fresh. Deftly balanced and incredibly tranquil - She is quite magnetic. Drink now -2020.

This took about an hour to open, ans continued to do so while it was consumed. Very smooth start, nice dryness at the end.

Decanted and vigorously swirled. Color was brownish but the wine itself is still fresh. Slightly ripe and at its peak. Drink up.

No metallic taste as with last bottle. See first tasting note. Better after open for an hour. Lots of life left.

This is a solid wine with typical characteristics of a cab franc. Not a superstar but something you can still feel good about purchasing.
