Expected more from it, however it really delivered when paired with a nice tender sirloin. Still a bit fruity, good structure, but a bit on the thin side. Complexity faded on day two.

Drack den 3 oktober 2020 till grillad oxfilé. Vinet först mycket god bouquet, men tunn smak. Vi väntade med att dekantera till ca 30 minuter innan mat. Efter dekantering och en stund i glas var det en mycket god smak. Fantastiskt vin!

at the opening a wonderful scent conquers the nose but then fades away soon. The wine at the sipping seems not so well integrated, some odd taste of red fruit and undebrush, with a bitter end. Definetely lacks pleasantness. Oxigenation does not improve. Disappointing given the winemaker's brand and price. Will not improve with time

Displays fragrant blueberry and mulberry aromas along with damson plum. Slightly hints at blood and rust. Fruity, open-knit and clear on the palate with rounded tannins and a long finish.

Very solid wine. Fruit just starting to move to the background. Still great flavor of red cherries and cherry pits, but now menthol, rosemary, and tobacco. Will last another 5 years, but I believe the peak is now.

Brownish ruby with medium reflectivity and medium plus optical density with an amber rim. Medium to medium plus intensity aromas of cherry pit, tar, aromatic balsamic, crunchy tobacco leaf, and olive- quite classic BdM. Refreshing acidity, medium to full body, with a pleasant taut but soft texture and medium plus tannins that provide structure to the layered flavours. The attack yields tobacco-rolled cherry fruit, with tart mixed red berries, and potpourri on top of earthy chewing tobacco. The midpalate fills in with aromatic tar and spices from savory herbs. Then, there is a finish of leather and cherry pit that lasts quite some time. Very nice balance, and while not blow -you-away complex, there is plenty of interest and intensity to capture attention. Nice elegance backed by power, this is drinking well, but can be held for some time. Very nice, prototypical BdM here that comes at a good price-in short- Excellent wine!

Middle ruby with medium plus optical density. Nice intensity of aromas, with chewing tobacco, cherry, light tar, and some earthy juniper forest floor, absolutely classic BdM. Very dry and medium in body on the palate, with lively acidity and an even, rounded texture with medium plus intensity of tannins on the back end. Flavours of tart cherry and sweet tobacco on the attack, with some olive and balsamic notes adding at midpalate along with some spicy kick- a really nice balance of fruit and earthy notes yield interesting complexity through the midpalate, which seems very firm and expressive. Really nice intensity overall, with an elegant framework to yield a layered experience. The finish is lengthy, showing smoke and savory spice. Lovely bottle, with nice balance and interesting character. In a nice spot at the moment, but no need to hurry!

Lovely Brunello! More fruity and less dry than others I have tried - makes it all that more enjoyable to drink. Cherry, plum and bit smoky on the finish.

CastelGiocondo has structure, deep colour, and complex flavour. It is produced from a choosy selection of Sangiovese Grosso grapes (not the same as Sangiovese simpliciter) grown on the producer's estate. The wine is released after three years of oak cask maturation, and at least six months of bottle ageing. Marchesi de' Frescobaldi are vinegrowers since the 14th century.

If you have half bottles like I, drink up. Don't wait. In that format, this wine has plateaued. It has life left but don't risk it. Why wait? Drink within the next 12 months. Requires two hours of aeration. Still mildly to low-moderately tannic. Unless you like a fairly mature profile, drink this year or next.

Quite a tasty Sangiovese. Deep but clear ruby. Relatively fragrant and structured nose of red cherries and plums with light touches of summer flowers, earth, oak and woody spices. Medium plus bodied with medium plus tannins. Noticeable alcohol. Palate similar to nose though much better once decanted. Was initially tasted after it was left in an open bottle for an hour. Much better with the aroma and flavour profiles described once decanted and allowed to breath. Still young and I believe has the stuffings to last for a fair few years yet to continue evolving. Would recommend decanting for at least an hour if not two at the moment.
Macerated for 32 days. Aged for a minimum of two years in French barriques and Slavonian botti casks. 14,5% alcohol.
Quite translucent ruby color. Still relatively youthful and quite powerful nose with intense aromas of ripe cherries, perfumed floral tones, some leathery nuances and a little bit of toasty oak. The wine feels full-bodied, rich and powerful on the palate with intense and fleshy flavors of sour cherries, savory dark fruits, juicy cranberries, some earthiness, a little bit of tobacco, a hint of savory oak spice and a touch of licorice. The wine is remarkably structured with high acidity and quite grippy tannins. The finish is rich, quite tightly-knit and intense with very long, savory and somewhat earthy flavors of peppery spice, sour cherry bitterness, some ripe black cherries, a little bit of tart cranberry, a hint of toasty oak spice and a touch of leather. The tannins lend a rather grippy touch to the aftertaste.
A still very firm, fleshy and tightly-wound Brunello from the more monolithic end - definitely a wine very much removed from the lighter and sophisticated Brunelli. Its immense structure, weight and concentrated fruit promise much aging-wise, so I wouldn't approach this tannic monster anytime soon. Although really impressive already, I suspect this wine will show a lot better after losing some of its baby fat. Priced according to its quality at 48€, although the wine feels like it is at the upper limit of the price range.

14.5% - Clear, med ruby / clean, med+ intensity - cherry, strawberry, licorice, spice box accent, baked pie and marzipan / dry, med acidity, med+ rich body, med+ round tannin, med to high intensity, med to long length, nice ripe fruit, harmonious, but still young.
Not my favorite from the region, but great quality wine at a decent price. Lots of earth notes but much more fruit forward than many Brunello's Ive had.
