PNP serving into 薄はり葡萄酒器 (“Fruit” day): Medium golden to the eyes.
Golden fuji apple, some green and fresh notes still quite primary at this stage. Reminds me of the Mark Angeli style of Chenin which is quite distinctive (but different from previous vintages of this wine?)

Five years has done this some good. This has reached a stage in its life where it’s ready to enjoy and in a spot where it’s so easy to love. A lovely golden hue in the glass, with scents of chalk, lime, and dehydrated pineapple. The palate leads with lemon, green apple, and quince. The bottle lasted us all of 45 minutes while eating sushi tonight. This is so lovely right now!!

Excellent. While fully dry, in a rounder, less steely, mode than Keller. Some petrol on the nose, underlying peach fruit but with a bit of salinity too, beautiful balance. Quite drinkable already but no reason to think this won't have a super future.

Opened this bottle for an afternoon barbecue, some prawns, lamb, steak, first of all: perfect match, the power of this bottle is a good partner to grilled food, popped and poured in a big Bordeaux glass the wine opens up rapidly, volouptous fruit with a lot of stonefruit and a whiff of honey, maybe from overripe grapes, very limy on the palate, a terroir wine, lots of acidity in the background, but this bottle is tasty and very delicious right now, very long finish, hmm......, bottle comes from a cold cellar therefore I would recommend to drink this wine the next 3- 10 years, ***(*), 90- 92+?

Decanted and drunk over about 3h. Clear, youthful pale golden color. Medium- intense nose, quite cool, opens up over time and mineral notes as well as green and yellow fruit appear. Dry, at first a bit disharmoniously, but over time all components blended in much better. This wine is far too young at the moment and needs a lot of air. Great potential, it has all it needs to be a great wine but give it 3-5 more years. At the moment around 91+

Rik, men flott balanse. Nydelig lengde med uttalt kalkmineralsk preg.

A wonderful Riesling with a extreme powerful energy! Still some closed aromas of citrus, apples and minerals. At the palate - Lots of spices, mineral, rocks, and salt. A little bitterness, but not in a bad way. The most impressive is the aftertaste - for over- 1 and 1/2 minutes! A great wine, would be even better with approx five more years in the cellar.

Dinner at Philipp’s Place. Served in Zalto Denkart Bordeaux Glasses. This was a perfect company for the starter (Heated walnut bread with French salted butter, foie gras and onion confit).
The Wittmann showed beautiful mineral flavors and fruit. As time passed by, the fruit and elegance got more intense. This wine is in good drinking condition already right now and but will be superb for years to come.
During the whole dinner, we kept the wine in the glasses (even after we started serving the red wine) and it evolved. Clearly a stunning world class Riesling! Based on experience, the wine will be sold out within the next few weeks. I am happy to have some more in my cellar.

Tasted at the winery just 10 days after bottling. Already drinking well. Fresh acidity, nice fruit flavors of citrus and melon, powerful minerality. Dry with no perceptible residual sugar.
