Nice golden yellow. Fine and intense at nose: gold plums, gooseberries, honey and wet wood. Full mouth, with an evident residual sugar, very well balanced by the mineral vein. Very nice dring, nor easy to pairing. Getting more mature, but close to the best.

Much better than first bottle, 2 years ago. Golden Yellow. Intense, complex and fine at nose: gold plum, honey, dried fruit. Good body. Gliceric, some residual sugar, not disturbing, well balanced by acidity and minerality. Nice match with spargles.

Bright, very pale yellow. Lifted, sexy nose of green apple, lime blossom, and crushed rock, with lurking petrol and spice. On the palate, ripe apple and rich honey are matched by tart acidity and spice. The finish is both by concentrated and long. A gorgeous auslese. Drink through 2025.

This was slightly spritzy initially, and much drier than I expected. Sitting at 9% abv, this is the leanest Auslese I have ever had; it drinks more like a Kabinett! So delicious as a table wine; it was delicious with broccoli ham casserole. There was a bit of honeyed apricot note with a steely mineral frame. Will hold my remaining bottles for a few years to see how this develops. Such a phenomenal value.

Classic nose, on the sweet side, with red apples, banana, honey, nutmeg, cumin, mint, stones, slate, snap peas, grass, flowers. Although sweet, the nose is also crisp and lively: the spiciness of Urziger Wurzgarten really shines. Enters sweet with the honey and apples, and then the spice comes out in the midpalate. Moderate acid keeps the wine lively and light - well balanced, not quite the acid that wows me. Juicy towards the end with meyer lemon, minerals and mint. The finish is flavored well with those same three flavors, but you can feel the intensity dropping off some right before you swallow. This is light and airy Auslese. It is delicious, but lacks the zing of the Merkelbach's best wines in 2012. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1-1.5/2 = 15.5-16/20.

Very light, brilliant Golden Yellow. A bit of sulphue when opened, then Intense, medium complex and fine at nose. Mainly fruity: banana and pears. Mineral. Off dry, medium alcohol (9%) and rounded. Good acidity and minerality. Intense, persistent and very fine. Well balanced, also if the sugar is predominant at this stage. Will get much better with time. AP #13

Spicy nose of lime, apple, honey, and stone. Piercing acidity in the mouth, balanced by a full body and slight residual sugar. Wonderful.

Excellent wine. Not a big auslese at all. Very drinkable and balanced. Extremely long, bright, mineral-filled finish. Should age gracefully.
