(Disgorged in 2015, 100% Pinot Noir, dosage 5 gr/L) Incipient maturity on the nose showing lime citrus and red apples with minerals opening up in a very refreshing way. Citrus drive acidity on the palate showing lots of minerals and with a butter note hiding underneath. Opens up on the finish with lots of lime zest bitterness on the finish and leaving a very pleasant saltiness on the lips. Opening up well in the glass, but should reward further cellaring. (Disgorged in 2015, 100% Pinot Noir from Bouzy, dosage 5 gr/L) Light yellow colour with a stream of fine bubbles showing incipient maturity on the nose with hazelnuts, roasted coffee and chalk and opens up with lime citrus flowers and hints of butterscotch and some ginger notes in a very nice and pleasant way. Still showing a refreshing and youthful citrus acidity that starts to smooth out and with some creaminess before the finish with a bitterness and hints of butterscotch note in a delicious way. This is showing really well right now, but no rush as it should keep developing in a delicious way for many years to come.. (Best 2023-2038)

Family dinner at home. This wine opened fresh and flavoursome with a fine bead and light golden colour. The nose is complex with strawberry, white cherry, arrowroot biscuits and lemon zest. The palate has nicely rich fruit providing good density and drive into the savoury mineral and cashew nut touches on the finish. A delicious mouth filling Champagne.

A delicious Champagne reflecting the structure of the vintage tis opened with a fine bead and mild golden colour. The nose is complex with strawberry, cherry, biscuit, leading to white peach and lemon zest. The palate has nicely rich fruit providing good density around which their is a savoury touch of development with nougat and nuts leading to a fine grip and length. This is a flavoursome and finely tuned Champagne.

It has taken on some weight and complexity over the last 3-4 years which is very nice. But, I still find it to be somewhat "hollow" in the middle-palate which I am less impressed about. Still, a lovely wine.

Men den här hade definitivt mått bra av att vila lite lite. wonderful and fast bubbles, light yellow in the glass. At the nose it shows some aromatic hints and light boulangerie. The palate is consistent with aromatic notes growing as the temperature of this blanc des noirs gets higher and some minerality appears. At 12° Celsius reaches its best. Not impressive for a 2008 vintage but truly pleasant and well crafted. In a hot and sunny afternoon on the Terrace.

HDH Bordeaux Auction; 11/9/2018-11/10/2018 (Chicago, IL): Slightly high-toned nose, with some nice browned apple elements, as well as some really intense, sappy aromatics. The palate is tart, perhaps to a fault, and shows some really lean character. Good minerality and freshness, not necessarily the most complex, but enjoyable.

Stately lemon-green color. Lots of ripe apple, baking spices, dusty old steamer trunk, plenty of acidity. I don't think this bottle is flawed, despite the old-school oxidative almost sherried style which I don't love. Still made me smile, perhaps from nostalgia.

HDH auction at Spiaggia; 5/17/2018-5/19/2018 (Chicago, IL): A lean and zippy champagne with ample citric acidity and freshness. A fairly nice hit of minerality as well, but I feel that the back end finishes slightly bitter. Overall, a well-executed and pleasant champagne, with enough fruit to balance the heightened acidity of the vintage.

Not a huge champagne drinker, but starting to get more into it. Initially it had a little funk that wore off after 10 minutes of being open. Nice bottle with good acidity that paired well with many of the earlier courses that night (brought to El Ideas in Chicago for a 12 course tasting menu). It definitely has more life left. Enjoyable, but nothing mind blowing - would recommend serving with food.

HDH auction at Spiaggia; 2/15/2018-2/17/2018 (Chicago, IL): The nose shows a fair bit of red apple aromas, with a little bit of high-toned aldehydic qualities from some cherry pits and almonds. The palate is also mostly high-toned, with some sweet apple notes, some citric acidity, and more of those almond notes. This is good and serviceable, but that's about where it ends.

HDH auction tasting at Spiaggia; 12/14/2017-12/16/2017 (Chicago, IL): A really nice crispness to the nose and palate of this wine; this certainly shows some of the lovely acidity of the vintage. It's a very chalky wine, with tons of minerality and lemon. Not too complex, but approachable and enjoyable all the same.

(Disgorged in September 2016) Lovely yellow colour with a stream of fine bubbles. Incipient maturity showing hazelnuts, minerals and biscuits in a fresh way and a still very youthful and acidic palate with a long and intense finish showing lime peel and a saltiness on the lips. This cuvée is really showing lots of character! This is a good showing of the vintage dominated by the intensity of the year. Best 2018-2033.

beautiful and agile, this isn't as robust as many 08, instead more delicate. Shows thyme and vanilla on the nose with increasing vanilla pastry cream on the palate. Importantly though, it stays lithe and is never too rich. A beautiful wine.

Nose: The nose is balanced with pears, red apples, baking spices, red fruits, biscuits, and some yellow florals. This does lack some depth and complexity as the tones are more on the surface.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity. The acidity is well integrated with the feel showing good balance along with pears, biscuits, red apples, and baking spices.
Overall: This was a very good, albeit somewhat boring, Champagne. Nothing seemed off, it just lacked depth and character.

Brezza Sarmassa and Some Bubbles (Ballaro): Very good, but not as generous and layered as the 2008 Mousse or 2008 Camille Saves served side-by-side. (Disgorged in August of 2016) Youthful nose showing flowers, nuts and minerals but all of it is overshadowed by the notes of mature apples. Intense youthful palate with oxidative notes of apples and a fresh and long acidic lime juice finish. This is showing both youthful acidity and oxidative notes in combination with a fresh and fruity character. This later disgorgement feels very nice and I wonder how it compares to one of the earliest disgorgements I have from the middle of 2013... still this is drinking nicely and should mature nicely for years to come. Best 2018-2028.

Drank alongside a 2002, which I previously had thought was really coming into its own. The 2008 certainly offers more intensity and elegance, on a finer, more complex palate... there's more nuance here than the '02. That said, the 2002 had a plushness and nuttiness to it that was also quite lovely and quite contrary to the 2008. Really nice to see these two vintages side by side, as you can tell its made of the same stuff, but the expression is entirely different. Look forward to noting another one in more detail soon.

Looks like I have a prior note on this cuvee and my reaction this time is similar to the last one. I found this a bit rich for my preferences. There is energy here, some apple tones but there is a honey-like note that I don't care for.

Gang of 5 Lady's Night: This bubbly isn't stylistically classic but I enjoyed because it is slightly different. The bubbles are extremely fine and it influences the mouthfeel as there is a density to the wine that is more like a still and it doesn't fizz up in your mouth. Strong bread flavor and citrus. Long finish.

This came across as just OK for me, whereas others at the table seemed to like it more than I. Did have some bread and apple notes, some finishing acidity and nuttiness but I didn't enjoy the level of sweetness or its perceived weight. I find myself enjoying bubbly that is styled more leaner, more energy and this just seemed to be broader and fatter than I would prefer.

Champagnes of Montagne de Reims (Hi-Time Wine Cellars - Costa Mesa, CA): Clean, pure, and refined. Subtle nose of Asian pear, ginger, white flowers, chalk, and, with air, nougat. Pale yellow color. Rich, autolytic and quite dark-toned nose with aromas of ripe citrus fruits, toasted bread, bruised apple, some browned butter and a hint of ginger. Rich, medium-bodied and dry on the palate with high acidity. Complex and surprisingly crisp flavors of lemony citrus fruits, chalky minerality, toasty autolysis, browned butter, brioche, some earthy spice and a hint of cream. Somewhat crisp and refreshing mousse with fine, small bubbles. Quite long and complex finish with flavors of chalky minerality, lemony citrus fruits, freen apples, some autolytic nuttiness, a hint of browned butter and a touch of nougat.
A very impressive, autolytic and rather brooding Vintage Champ with a lot of emphasis on those darker-toned Pinot characteristics. Very toasty style, yet with a lot of emphasis on the structure and brightness, so the wine doesn't come off as heavy or ponderous, only weighty. Good stuff that shows some aging potential, but doesn't actually feel like it would require any more age as it is quite nutty and toasty already. Very nice and enjoyable, was worth the 14,5€ for a glass.

Degorged 2014. Nice pale yellow color with a very nice touch of oysters, minerals and wild strawberries. Smooth and soft acidic palate showing citrus fruit with a nice long bitter sweet finish.
Much more smooth and integrated compared with last time I drank this in december 2013. (And with a different degorgement date and perhaps also different dosage?)

Looks like I have a prior note on this cuvee and my reaction this time is similar to the last one. I found this a bit rich for my preferences. There is energy here, some apple tones but there is a honey-like note that I don't care for.

Nice Champagne, but not really a step up from the NV

Liked this a lot. Very fine bubbles and nice mousse. Nice mouthfeel. Red apples and red berries. Charming and precise at the same time.

Racy, steely, and focused on the palate. Notes of crushed minerals, asian pear, and jicama. A touch of salinity on the finish. Terrific wine.

Citrusy, not very yeasty. It's got a good beat, I can dance to it.

Private Dinning: You Bring then I Do (Restaurant La Piperna - Madrid): BYO by Miguel to restaurant La Piperna in Madrid.
Intoxicating nose well-ready for PN and PM.
Elegant pastry shop aromas, buttery croissant.
Palate is a bit short to me but still quite delicious and tempting.
Llevada por Miguel a La Piperna.
Nariz intoxicante bien preparada por la PN y la PM
Aromas a pastelería elegante, a croissant de mantequilla.
En boca es un poco corta para mi pero todavía bien rica y apetecible.

Rich, complex, focused acidity and creamy texture. Lots of overripe red apples, nuts, brioche and some chalky minerality. The mousse is a bit aggressive today but I'm sure that it will calm down with time.
Very good today, but has a promising future.

Light gold colour.
Nose of brioche, Mayer lemon, hints of stone fruit, under ripe pineapple. Velvety mousse, with citrus tones, balanced acid and a decent length finish. Super balanced wine that will get even better with time.

Light yellow colour with fine tiny bubbles.
The nose is very youthful with yellow apples.
The palate is quite hard, but with nice length and a distinct finish.
