Very well balanced. Definitely oxidative. Still has freshness with a pronounced lemon and mineral streak. Hard to tell if these are secondary notes or just the oxidation. Not my absolute favorite style, but a well made wine. 91+

Popped yesterday. Notes from today. A sublime drop. Lovely oxidative style BdB with loads of sweet meyer lemon, lemon oil, and a coppery tinge. On the palate: fantastic acidity, density. Mousse is mostly dissipated now, but this shows real secondary notes with honey and hazelnut drizzled over the primary core of lemon. Good length, and glad I drank this now rather than waiting longer...in a wonderful place.

Slightly better showing than last bottle, but the verdict remains, this feels like it will not last for ever. Very dry palate but with expressive nose from ripe aged fruit and some oak that's nicely integrated.

Really expressive nose that is full of toast, roasted hazelnuts, salty peanut butter (non-sweet) and some lemon rind. We all liked it but my feeling is that it is aging rather quickly. I will see how long I save my other bottle.

Like a bread factory in a good way on the nose. So ripe and walking a tight line from going overboard. Classic Leclapart texture. Epic Stuff, a work of art

I picked this off restaurant wine list as was hoping the riper 2009 vintage would help this show well at a young age despite the extra brut style. It did not disappoint. Definitely rounder style with more forward red berry fruit, but also citrus and plum and nut and saline flavors. I think it will get better with age, but also drinks well now. I would be happy to have this in my cellar.

IMW 2016 Champagne - Prestige Tasting (Hyatt, San Francisco): Trendy grower, natural wine movement, has a cult following. 100% Chardonnay small producer - 3 ha (7.5 acres). 22 parcels Montaigne de reims is better known for Pinot, but this is a Chardonnay-dominated domaine. Uses indigenous yeasts for primary fermentation (becoming more common for initial ferment. Some people are doing secondary fermentation but that's trickier.) Uses second-hand domaine Leflaive barrels for primary fermentation. All wines are Zero Dosage, and low sulfur.
Pale yellow. Weird sotolon-like curry-golden-raisin aromas. Pool chlorine, vapo-rub, nuts and cumin, very strange nose. Super oxidative, savory, slight vinegar, but interesting spices. Finishes with cashews and golden raisins. High acid, no dosage. Reminds me of Chateau-Chalon. How was this made? Super weird. Slight tannins - a phenolic texture on the finish. 8-8.5 $150

Crazy stuff on the nose. Deep dense sweet raspberry. Dense on the palate clean. Rather restraint on the palate given the bouquet. Needs more time for the champagne to completely open up. A close second to Ulysse, if given more time, it will definitely top it.

PnP. Closed and tight to start but started showing better after 2hrs of air. Apple cider on the nose and a persistent, nutty finish. A vinous and energetic champagne. Very good.

A nearly complete L'apotre tasting with Richard Juhlin at D'Vine Düsseldorf @ 31/10/2015.
Not Blind 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003,2001, 1999 plus L'Astre 2011 and 2010.
The winner for me L'astre 2010 and L'Apotre 2008, 2006 and 2005.
Ripe yellow fruits, pears, toast, sea salt, cream, fullbodied, too young, needs time, temperature and air, good fresh acidity, at this stage unbalanced 91-93

I love these wines. I've said before and I'm certain I'll say it gain, but this wine is white Burgundy with bubbles!
