Performed once again perfectly. Still fresh with lots of super balanced tertiary notes like hazelnut, almond and toffee. On the very top - outstanding. This was just a bottle; really looking forward to my magnums
As close to Burgundy as possible. It can without doubt be compared to a good 1. cru white Burgundy on the well defined aromas/flavours as well as acidity and elegance. 93+
Tasted against Kumeu River Hunting Hill 2016. Not as elegant as Kumeu River, less complex but richer. On all parameters not close to Kumeu even thougt Tasmania has a cool climate
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Tasted against Trapet Pere & Fils Le Chambertin 2011. Extremely fruity and high intensity and no tertiary notes yet. Typical Mortet. I was curious so could not wait trying a bottle. As expected it was youthful but it definitely has potential for many years of ageing: I am pretty sure this will develop to an outstanding wine with lots of complexity. Still 15 btls in cellar. Lookin forward to following the development. Le Chambertin 2011 from Trapet was less fruity, more savoury with beginning tertiary notes. I rated both 94. Both wines are pretty expensive, with Le Chambertin of course as the most expensive. In my opinion Mortet will over the coming years develop to the best of the 2.

Tasted against Denis Mortet 1. cru. Lavaux St.Jacques 2015. Le Chambertin 2011 from Trapet was less fruity than Mortet, more savoury with beginning tertiary notes. Mortet was extremely fruity with high intensity (a warm year...) and no tertiary notes yet. Typical Mortet. I was curious so could not wait trying a bottle. As expected it was youthful but it definitely has potential for many years of ageing: I am pretty sure this will develop to an outstanding wine with lots of complexity. Still 15 btls in cellar. Bordeaux blend (CS+Merlot) from Toscana. Tasted blind I. I had to guesses: It could be a warm Bordeaux year or it could be a super Tuscan. It was the last. What surprised me a lot was the vintage, We were back in 2004. It was impossible to guess based on the colour and aromas. Plenty of years left.
