This is an excellent cab. Nose is mint and cloves with vanilla. Taste is very smooth but with a slow build of tannin to let you know it still has some punch left. Better than expected.

Opened on Friday and finished on Sunday night. It was just okay the first night. I swear all I tasted was Cabernet franc and don’t even know if there is any in there. Tonight was delicious..got some chocolate notes and so smooth!

Medium bodied and "typical" well made CA cab, very accessible after opening and enjoyable with only 1-2h of air. Faint oak, spices, and alcohol on the nose. The palate has the red fruit, mineral, and milk chocolate, and black pepper in the finish. Very tasty with roast bone-in pork loin with pesto-duck fat sauteed potatoes. This bottle was a gift, so I have no more.

Dark organ blood red. Intensely sweet red berries with chocolate accents on the nose. Silly mouth-feel with delicious chocolate, raspberry, and mulberry notes, the latter of which really reveals itself in the finish. A touch of Brett which blows off after about an hour of air. Very tasty.

Deep ruby core moved toward some garnet inflections toward the rim, but unmistakably dense. Brooding aromas of cassis, black cherry, graphite, white pepper and a charming green note acted as a curtain to deeper notions of campfire and dried coconut. Full and robust across the palate, there was no lack of weight but vibrant acid line and velvety tannins brought a balance that showed the highest level of finesse. At 15.5 the alcohol was assertive, but pronounced fruit tamed it into a luxurious and persistent finish. Could see another 5 years, but open it tonight with a bloody tomahawk and horseradish. Fruit aromas became far more pronounced with 30 minutes of air.

Opened 90 min before drinking but not decanted. Deep dark maroon color with slightly yellowing rim. Pesto, wild mushrooms, truffle oil, maple wood and dark fruit on the complex, yet subtle nose. Despite all of the savory descriptors, this is a relatively fruit forward wine. Silky smooth palate with lively acidity. Supple tannins on the medium long finish. Very nice example of what a good winery can do with ‘11 fruit.

30 min cold decant (in fridge). Deep dark burnt maroon color. Herbal nose of fennel, celery, and moss with dark fruit (primarily plum) in the background. After an hour, more prune and potpourri-infused root beer shines through. Smooth, dry palate, with metallic notes on the mid-palate and good acidity. Supple tannins on the medium long finish.

A classic example of a napa cab from this cold vintage; fruit, oak, complexity are not comparable to a Darioush cab in a warmer vintage, pleasant enough, but not a stand out.

At cellar temp this was not showing much, leather cigar box and some faint green pepper. As it warmed up the fruit started to show up with some maraschino cherries and stems. Tannins are firm but fine grained. Solid wine.

The quintessential offering of the Darioush estate. Reflective of Darioush's individualism and dedication to crafting a Cabernet Sauvignon that bridges Bordeaux's old world complexity and poise with Napa Valley's modern and progressive style, stature and depth.

Classic Cabernet in the nose. Needed time to come around but became very creamy with black fruit. Medium bodied. Not a great wine but certainly enjoyable.

Nose: eucalyptus, black currant, dry tobacco, red currants, dark chocolate, espresso.
Palate: dark chocolate, cigar box, leather, raspberries, mint.
Complex and layered.
Overall a great wine, especially for a 2011, but I feel it should be closer to the $60-70 range. Perhaps in a better year it might work for me at $90, but not this one.

Dark ruby. Still very young, a tannin bomb needing several years in the cellar. Time and aeration helped open it up. Tasted a bit green, perhaps due to cool vintage.

Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Dark garnet core with bright purple rim; graphite, lead pencil, unadulterated Cab, tons of black currant, some red currant, slight green pepper, would not describe this as modern, not getting a strong oak signature, slight chocolate; palate continues with classic Cabernet flavors, great balance, pleasant grip, good acid; tight and coiled up a bit but really impressive, especially for vintage; could see this going 20 years.

Wonderful nose with gorgeous color in the glass. Great spices with pepper overtones that light up the palate. Young but will age gorgeous. Needs about 5 years at least but still good to drink now.

Charlotte Wine and Food Tasting Event> Wow. I have read about the 2011 disaster crop, but this sealed it for me. Not so much that it was terrible (it wasn't) but that it wasn't indicative of the Darioush name, and certainly not for over $100.
