I’ve been having bad luck with Langhe wines recently and this didn’t reverse the trend. It was decent, but there were too many jagged edges and too much nail polish remover to truly enjoy. There was a brief moment where it tasted pretty good with the bland pasta dish it was paired with, but that didn’t last. A Marc DeGrazia Selection, so probably aged in new barique, and a much different wine than I would seek out now.

opened and decanted for an hour before drinking. wine is dark ruby in color with no bricking or signs of aging. beautiful nose of balsamic, saddle leather, sous bois, and dried rose petals. a modern style barolo where surprisingly they did not go over the top with oak as has been my complaint in the past. varietal characteristics are able to shine due to the minimal oak. on the palate the wine is still primary with solid cherry fruit. over time the wine opens up nicely, gathers some weight and delights with a nice long finish. these 2010's are going to take some time to develop secondary characteristics. will wait another 3 to 5 years before opening the next bottle

Dark garnet colored, slightly opaque, medium bodied, complex, concentrated with deep dark berry and black cherry fruits with notes of tobacco, leather, smoke, mineral and floral turning to approachable tannins on the moderate finish.
Fading garnet. Nose of wet stone. Moderate tannin. Red fruit and mineral flavors. Nice acidity. Tannins might outrun flavors over time. At peak? Medium bodied.

Mild tannins for a Barolo. Well balanced. Nose has floral and mushroom qualities. Flavors of cherry, violets, and mild earth tones. The wine changes after a few hours in a decanter, becoming slightly more fruit forward.
Ready to drink now. Not sure how many more years it will improve in a cellar.

Showed well, probably mature. Mild tannin for Nebbiolo. Still fresh. Tar and savory fruit notes with the expected floral nuance of Nebbiolo. Quite enjoyable for the price. 5yrs from my last bottle. Agree with others to drink now, but no rush.

Well my “taste in 3 years” turned into 5.... My how time flies....(original thought) Nose is dusty spice, leather and cherry... On the tongue it’s a bit more fruit, with definite leather, and spice and the tannins while smoother still present firmly with a drying finish. Not sure the fruit will outlast the tannins...I wouldn’t be surprised if in 5 more years it’s a fruit thin wine but still tannic.... I shall never know as it’s my last bottle...slight upgrade at the 10 year mark..

my fourth bottle and it is clear that something went wrong with this vintage. I have not bought any vintages since but this is not the juice that i am used to from silvio grasso. did one of the kids take over in the cellar? I don't know but the bottles from this vintage are off and in my opinion the owner should have pulled these from the market. I have not tried any of the single vineyard offerings from grasso in 2010, but they are sitting in the cellar and in the next year or two I will begin opening them. It will be interesting to see if they just had a problem with their normale or whether the problems were cellar wide. I have drunk their wines for years and they have excellent vineyards and have historically made excellent wine. What happened in 2010? I would like to know and has the diminution in quality persisted? I bought bottles from several different retailers so we can rule out retailer mishandling. I also find fault with Anthony Galloni's reviews of this wine. what was he drinking? this wine and the three others were so poor that most of the bottles were just poured out. one of the worst baroli that I have had.

4 bottles and no good notes- 92+/- from memory. Excellent QPR for a Barolo. There are Barolo's with a lot more complexity but this would be a great "steak-house" Barolo if you can decant for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

RQP ***1/2

Consistent with my first tasting of this wine in 1/2015 vs. 10/2016. Can't find notes. Decanted for a few hours and can't recall pairing. I really enjoyed this though - modern for Barolo but well done and tar / rose petals / tannin style and color let you know it's a Barolo. 92+

Great value play. Will never be a star; I've had four bottles of this over the past year and a half. Gets a little better each time, but don't expect much more, though the tannins are of course still there to be worn down. It'll get better I suspect, but will always be good, not great. But those wines have a place as well, and I certainly don't regret having this.

Seems to be a little young at this point, will let my remaining bottles rest a while. Decanted for 2+ hours. Tannins and alcohol started to ebb after another hour and some traditional nebbiolo characteristics began to emerge.

I was banking on a La Mora based wine being a little more accessible at this point. Popped and poured, which was a mistake, as this really needs a couple hour decant at this point. It wasn't face-rippingly tannic, but the structure of the wine was clearly out front. With some time, the fruit elements began to assert themselves, but this is pretty backwards at this point. There were noticeable French oak notes, so this is squarely in the "modernist" camp, but it's use is judicious and overall, this has a very "correct" tar & roses profile. I think this is workman-like in the best sense. Give this a couple years and this will be a very solid, entry level, Barolo.

Popped and poured out of a 375ml at a restaurant. This was a solid village level Barolo in an accessible style. Soft dark red fruits and robust food friendly tannin made it a perfectly nice wine to drink at only 5 years old, but in the 2 hours I took to enjoy it by myself it opened up only slightly to some floral notes with a bit of white mushroom and tar. This a a vintage for structure and despite the style would do very well with an additional 10 years.

Open about an hour. Light floral nose. Palate has elements expected of a Barolo without coming together into something better than its parts. Medium weight, low glycerin, some flowers and fruit, still quite tannic. Should get better, but I don't think it will keep as long as some.

Opened up nicely over 90 minutes. Drinking more like a barbera than barolo, as its lighter body makes it more approachable. Great value for a 2010 Barolo

Mid bodied Barolo, nice light fruit, some floral, quite dry tannin on finish. Almost drinks like a good restrained new world Pinot with more tannic end and structure.

drank from a 375ml. Opened at 2pm, decanted at 4pm and enjoyed ~ 2.5 hours later. Dark red color with nice legs in the glass. Beautiful nose - eucalyptus/menthol, sour cherry, dark cherry. On palate, medium+ body, high acidity & long finish with stout tannins (flavor profile similar to nose). Pretty modern Barolo and I was pretty amazed at how well this drank for only 5 years from the vintage. Probably going to shut down soon but drank very well tonight. 92-93 range. Will buy more. As prior taster noted, you are wasting your money if you don't decant for a few hours.

From 375ml. Needed 4hrs in a decanter to show well. Eventually showed a tarry and floral nose. Palate with a darker fruit profile, quite tannic and energetic. Strong finish. Performed well for the price. Certainly will need some time to often.

Medium to light ruby, floral nose of black cherry, char, camphor and red currant, juicy red fruit on the attack with dried cherries, cherry soda, cranberry, teethy tannins and grip, long finish with loads of bright red fruit, tar, heat, mocha and earthy notes

This deep ruby wine was tasted in double-blind fashion, with the bottle generously provided by J.G. It offers an intense nose of red currants, lavender, cocoa and earth. On the palate, it is full-bodied, freshly acidic and seamlessly alcoholic (14%). Dried berry, mineral and mocha flavors are guarded by substantial grippy tannins. Solid in the middle, it concludes with a lengthy, albeit astringent finish. Give this one some time. Drink 2017-2030.
