Lovely, classic WS pinot. Slightly bricking, and nice acid up front. Medium bodied, with cola, nutmeg and cherry notes. Long, long finish, with the acid staying right out there all the way to the end. Drink up but it likely will be ok for a couple of years at most.

Decanted for about 90mins. Little bricking medium garnet color, still youthfull for. 14yrs old Pinot noir. Nose is but shy, with marked wet earth notes, forest bush, pepper, raspberry with some stewed fruit notes. Soft tannins, slightly spicy and peppery, with Raspberry and baked strawberry, quite long and nice. Definitely new world in a very elegant and medium body style. Very approachable with many years to go. Fairly good length. I like it very much.

Signs of brick in the wine's color. A nose of white pepper, strawberry. The palate shows signs of the old world peeking through. Strawberry, blackberry, cherry, pepper all wrapped up in a wonderful delicate layer of old world earthiness. The tannins are virtually completely resolved leaving only a small amount of acidity to provide structure to this wine. It is drinking very well if you lean a little towards aged burgundies and, to a certain extent, bordeaux. It is not past its prime, it is mature. A medium finish.

As others have noted a very pleasant wine and easy to drink, but obviously this is past it's peak. Light garnet color and looks like a barolo. The nose is muted and the palate has only light berriEs. Nothing wrong with this wine at all, but it needs to be drunk up soon. Has held up better ThAn all its peers so it should be applauded.

Unfortunately... showed it's age as neither nose nor flavor was as robust as they once were. However, the wine was very pleasant and paired well with steak & king crab. Nice garnet color, mild fruit on the nose, subtle cherry/berry flavors leading to an extremely pleasant finish. Enjoyable but past prime.

Drank while playing golf at the Yountville Vintner's Club. On opening lots of fruit still on the nose but that faded fairly rapidly. Gave way to much more aged notes of mushroom, earth with some red fruit lurking. Nice body with good acid just not the most complex. This is on a rapid aging curve if this bottle is an indication.

Pleasant but ultimately light pinot. Lacks richness in flavor, aroma, or complexity. Not to say that it isn't a nice pinot, but lacking that something extra.

Spicy nose with soft red fruits and cinnamon, nutmeg. This is soft and lush, with a ripe fruit profile; raspberry, predominatly, and also sour cherry candy. This is balanced and lush, borderline opulent, with enough freshness to make up for (perhaps) a lack of terrific depth. Cinnamon flavors linger on the finish. This has youthful trappings, i.e. freshness, but the acidity was well-integrated and while this will hold for a few years, it by no means needs any additional cellar time.

Nice clear ruby red color with on a simple pop and pour a very fruit forward nose that was all red berries with an accent of tart raspberry. Clean entry and a medium to firm mid palate that was all fruit...light but accessable acidic counterpoint that we enjoyed before dinner...and then it went well and stood up to smoked brisket and ribs.

A light aroma of dark tones-dark plum, marzipan, fig, with an ethereal light body and taste of strawberry, cranberry, plum, and a simple finish take echos the primary flavors. Very delicious and good with food.

This seemed much more like an Anderson Valley pinot than a Sonoma Coast pinot, light but intense red color, with crisp cranberry and strawberry flavors and bright acids. There were the tiniest hints of some secondary spice and earth, but you had to look hard for them. Although atypical for Sonoma Coast, it was an enjoyable wine, but I think one which needs years more in the cellar to become more than just the clean, refreshing pinot which it is today. I'd probably think 2-3 more years before it becomes a complete wine, and with a long drinking window after that time.

"Wines We Covet" (The Primes): Pretty wine. Lighter in color and body than the KB (as you would expect), but providing a beautiful counterpoint with its delicate spice and oak. Great food wine, and priced to actually make this economical...

Clear ruby red color and nose that is brimming with forest floor, raspberry, cut roses, lilacs, and marzipane. Super fresh on the palate with very floral flavors of rose petal and raspberry, plum and strawberry. Finish is very nice and keeps sailing on. This was a fantastic match for a dinner of turkey cutlets "a la provencale" in a fragrant tomato and herb sauce. Great food companion at 13.8% alc. The most remarkable thing about this wine is that is is unbelievably drinkable and just a joy to consume without any heaviness. Has shed some of the heavy spice sensations I noticed 8 months ago when last tasted.

Pinot Fest at Home (Palatine, Il): Medium-rose colored, translucent. Initial nose was petrol-like, later more berry and cherry. Needed 30+ minutes of air to come around. Refined fruit in mid-palate, with long elegant and, at times, peppery finish. Good with grilled salmon, did not work with roasted fennel.

Felt like this needed another year or two to strut its stuff. Poured off half the bottle and let the remainder sit for an hour, then drank over another hour, this remained tight. Nice red fruits, decent aromatics, and elegant as always, but just a bit clamped down. Check back in early '09...

Same as my prior notes. This bottle was consumed with slightly spicy Indian food and it showed fairly well because of the lack of tannins. A more tannic Pinot Noir also consumed at the same meal clashed with the food.

Light in color. Aromatic nose of cherries and a bit of cedar. Nicely balanced but not a lot of depth or complexity. Decanted and poured immediately, but did not seem to change much during the course(s) of the meal. Was definitely overshadowed by the '99 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru that followed.

Extremely fragrant with bing cherry and strawberries, some orange peel. Medium body with great balance. That balance made the finish go on and on. Flavors of dark cherry, some cola and a hint of tobacco. This was a fabulous bottling that tasted great for 3 hours. Very pretty wine.

2 San Sakana Fish Beached in Boston (Troquet - Boston, MA): Decanted. This was drank following the 98 PJ and 2 San Sakana Viogniers - so I revisited it throughout the night. Very perfumed, floral nose - showing orange peel, cherries and a hint of earth/funk. After such a classic pinot nose, I was waiting to be blown away when I actually drank it. This had a thinness to the black cherry flavor profile, and the finish was clipped. Disappointing.

Clear, light ruby color. Red fruit nose with loads of Asian spice and specifically cardamom and clove. Good texture and lovely acidity. Fruit veers towards strawberry and cranberry. Lighter style of Pinot, but one that will reward a couple of years of patience. Finish is nice and balanced. Very good wine. Would buy again, although I do consider it slightly atypical for Sonoma Coast (I usually think of darker fruit from SC).

Part of a pre-Kosta Browne flight at FMIII's....along with Kistler, Brewer-Clifton, Dehlinger, etc... inviting aroma, tart cherry on palate. Mid-weight, very inviting. I love this style. Lifted nose of baking spices and roses.
Effortless on the palate with tart red fruits, quartz, and warm brown spices on the finish.
Drinking very well from a bottle in excellent condition. 2004 was a hot vintage but from my experience a successful one for W-S.
