Honeyed, beeswax, lemon, jasmine/honeysuckle; smooth with no hard eges (has softened with aged well), glides along the palate, hints of grapefruit, lemon pith. Lovely

Opens up with some petrol on the nose that somewhat diminishes with time in the glass. On the palate, quite smooth and rich. Not overly sweet, but nor is there any big blast of acidity. Relatively long finish if perhaps a bit linear. Given that this has settled down since I last had it, as well as the fact that I picked my btls up for $15, I might be a little high on the score. But for current drinking, and QPR, this is just stunning right now. I've always liked the Eroica bottling, as it seems to develop quicker in the bottle than some of it's German counterparts, allowing for earlier drinking pleasure.

Still a very good riesling, but not nearly as vivrant as in the past. Could it be it's past it's peak. Tastes a bit flabby now, although the fruit flavors of apple, apricot, and citrus are still delicious, it lacks the acidic lift it used to have. Doesn't seem to jump off the palate like it did the last time I had this vintage (1 year ago). Also, more and more expensive now as well. I use to get it for less than $20. Just paid $26 for this one. No longer a great QPR.

I'll give it an 89 because that seems to be the average from others for this. I don't want to be the one to bring down the distinction rating with my nubile Riesling palate. We had this with shrimp and mango, all seemed pleasant. But certainly not exciting.

Light bodied, well made riesling, I can only echo the other reviews, lots of apples and pears on the nose as well as the palate with a refreshing acidic, dry but not mouth drying finish. Paired well with picnic night, sandwiches, fruit, cold cuts etc. Maybe a little expensive for an everyday wine (and that's what this is) when there are many rieslings just as good or better at lower price points.

Scents of pears and apples. On the toungue it tastes sweet but the finish is dry and clean. A wonderful richness is counterpointed by nice acidity making for a delicious accompanyment to white fish dishes and shellfish.

Was just a mid 80's the first night, perhaps I had it a little too warm? It was flat and the acidity just wasn't there Then after being in the fridge a day or two I served right out of the fridge and it was very good. Tropical fruit flavors followed by clean, refreshing acidity. Would definitely buy again at $15-16

Pale yellow color, clear, slight frizzante. Nose of petrol, white peaches, lemon zest and apple. On the palate, immediate honeyed fruit is met with lively acidity. Minerality is present, but not profound. Flavors of citrus, apricot, lemon pie, grapefruit and pear reveal through the creamy medium bodied texture. A very good-length finish for a Riesling. It's been over a minute and I'm still getting green apple on the palate.

On the nose, lime and green apples mix with a bit of background petrol. On the palate, medium-bodied with nice acidity level, with green apples, pear and flint and a nice medium length finish. Upgraded from last tasting a year ago, this has come together with time in the bottle and the granular sugar I noted on the finish last year is not apparent this time.

Gorgeous crisp citrus, bright peach, soft dried apricot, and buzzing pineapple bland into a delightful riesling. A delicate floral touch grounds the intensity of the vibrant fruit and minerality. Eroica could definately be had with dessert.
Interesting: Eroica translates to 'Heroic' in Italian. The wine was named after Ludwig Van Beethoven's Third Symphony and celebrates the harmony of old world riesling in Dr. Loosen and the new world riesling in Cht. St. Michelle.

Tasted July 12, 2006 at an offline. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Weiss Wein glass. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose has a little diesel this time (tasted once before) with some notes of grapefruit, apricot, peach and a little spice. Flavors of quince maybe (?), apricot, peach and some green apple. Medium acidity with light to medium body. Drink over the short term. No value recommendation. Tasted twice now with consistent notes.

Not a tasting note, but a cellar note. I have a case of this in my cellar and just noticed that two of the 12 bottles leaked about 1/2 inch, if you put the bottle straight up. I keep my cellar between 55-62 degrees with around 60 percent munidity. Bad cork, I guess. Anyone else noticed this?

Very nice, although I'm not sure I see the dramatic difference between this and the lower priced Ch. Ste. Michelle offerings. Very pale. An outstanding Riesling from CSM. Light, yellow color with a surprisingly solid body. Plenty of fruit in the nose, green apple and pear for sure. A slight acidity, with a "sparkling wine" characteristic, which made this all the more enjoyable. I thought it was very well balance from beginning to end. But then, at $20 it should be, right?

Typical Eroica, which is a good thing. A bit less of a nose than previous years, mainly of apple and pear. Very light, straw yellow color. Does pack a tart, fruit punch when it enters the palatte. Granny Smith combined with some pear and almost a bit of cherry.

A lovely, fruit-packed Riesling, but a little too sweet for my own tastes (at least as compared to some of my favorites from Alsace). There isn't much nose, but the palate brings gobs of ripe pineapple, passion fruit, lemon, and peach. While just a touch cloying on the attack, the vibrant, juicy palate balances that out with the aforementioned fruits and citrus. A solid finish; once again, though, it's just a touch too sweet. I prefer the '03 Eroica overall because it seems to harmonize the sweet and sour a bit better.
