I always love this Sauternes, today after a great Opus One Vertical I brought two 375 of these to open with Ashley’s famous Bread Pudding. I specifically chose two different 375 with different colors, one that had the usual color and one that turned more of a golden brown and carmelized. What a difference two bottles can be, the bottle that had not turned golden brown was very good and a solid 92, however the bottle that turned and looked more carmelized was a 94/95. I will continue to age these bottles and wait for more of them to carmelized and open them later. Cheers

Enjoyed last night during our dessert course of our monthly “Magnum Moron” meeting. This is definitely not over the bill and is still going strong and has many years left. It is peaking now, but will not be on the decline anytime soon. This suduirat has notes of Honey, marmalade, Carmel and hints of baking spice.

In the refrigerator for two days, on ice for one and a half hours, then allowed to warm before opening. No tartrate crystals. Initially, notes of apricots and an annoying quartz smell. After 30 minutes that blew off and apricots and orange zest arose on the nose and palate. Okay balance, not cloying. With a long-lasting finish on the nose and palate.

Brown sugar, marmalade, orange rind, faint notes of ginger, toasted hazelnut, has a good acidity that cuts the sweetness nicely, on the leaner side, mature and showing well. 91-92

Coravin pour, nose had some honey, ginger, orange peel but much less intense than I recall the bottle tasted 2 years back. Sweetness was in check with acidity, paired with a Greek yogurt ice cream and baklava desert. Will revisit soon for a more detailed review, will wait on scoring but I am at a 91 or so now.

In a really nice spot right now. Aromas of lanolin, apricot jam and lavender. It is sweet and luscious, with good depth. Acidity is relaxed and length good.

From a 750ml, by myself during Covid-19 times. No score, as this was so different on the 3 nights that I drank this. First night, a bitter metallic edge detracted from the wine though the classy fruit was behind it. Second night, that disappeared, and it was a very beautiful melange of apricot, dried apricot, and honey, a beautiful Sauternes. For no good reason, I had the last glass 3 weeks later, and of course it had aged beyond its peak, but the metallic edge came back. ??

A wine that has developed very nicely and has reached a mature peak. It has put on a lot more weight since I last tasted it and it is packed with candied apricot and oragne. Quite sweet but still with a lovely balance. Intense flavors and with toasted hazelnuts. Medium-> Long finish and lots of complexity while still maintaining an impressive balance. Loved it!!

WSET, Level 3 Advanced Certifcation Training; 3/11/2018-4/22/2018 (Texas Wine School at the Food & Wine Foundation of Texas, Austin, TX): Light amber color with some dried, fine sediment in the bottom of the glass, which after 22 years is to be expected. Fully developed nose with lots of tertiary complexity. Pronounced aromas of candied apricot, toasted nuts, kerosene, burnt sugar, and a melange of dried apricot, peach, nectarine, and marmalade. Very intense flavors of burnt caramel, dried apricot and peach and toasted hazel nuts. Full bodied and high alcohol. High acidity balances the sweetness and both support a long finish. This is an outstanding example of a well aged Sauternes which is highly complex, well balanced, intensely concentrated, and displays lots of length. Can drink now, but still has potential for further development.

Drank the last two glasses from an overlooked bottle, months after it was opened. By now it was more of s sherry than a Sauternes, but went down nicely with a lovely apple pie.

Magnificent color of deep gold turning to amber, high viscosity.
Nose of honey, alcohol and dusty cellar. Very well balanced, there is enough acidity to compensate for the sugar. Palate underwhelming with a bit of a nasty finish, although it lasts forever.
It's missing the vibrancy that I would expect from a Sauternes.

First experience with Sauternes!! Aromas of beeswax, honeycomb, and a touch of lemon curd. Contrary to other reviews, I found this wine impressively sweet, but perhaps it is not as sweet as Sauternes wines can be. Palate shows profound flavors of apricot with a long finish. Color is golden amber, almost like melted honey or many beers/ciders.

Oro ramato.

Mourvedre BYO (Michaels place): Candied orange peel with a lovely touch of white pepper. Light and fresh in its expression and it is just drinking really nicely right now. It is just in its absolutely best drinking window right now where everything is just in balance.

Malt Golden, light viscosity. Begins to improve with some air time. Nose is muted, and a little chemically, petrol like. Palate is restrained, slightly bitter, mostly apricot. Light in the mouthfeel.

Yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of Windex, minerals and not much more. Flavors of apricot and honey. Medium acidity and body. Palate was good, nose lacking a little. Split the difference. Drink now.

Golden color. Nose was a bit like rubbing alcohol at first but with time it blew off to reveal dried apricots and honey. The palate is much drier than expected with a good viscosity. Overall this wien did not hit the sweetness that I was expecting for the pairing with the blue cheese we had paired with it.

Golden colour, lychee, apricot and saffron on the nose. Paired with overly sweet dessert which enhanced a bitter character in the wine. Not enough sweetness in my opinion but a good Sauternes.

Bordeaux Tasting, Dallas, Texas (IL Sole Restaurant & Wine Bar): Awesome golden yellow that with a hint of light orange. Great Sauterne nose that immediately beckoned some botrytis and the complexity that comes with it. This wine did not disappoint, and was surprisingly light in texture—not nearly as heavy as many other Sauterne wines. 90-93

Golden amber color. Smoky nose mixed with gasoline. A little bit apricot. Smooth and well balanced. Not dry at all. Nice finish. But don't drink too much at one time…that will be too sweet.

Nose shows gobs of botrytis spices and smoke. The smokiness continues on to the pallette, along with some petrol. Not very sweet at all, well balanced, medium finish. This may not be a profound wine, but it was a lovely drinker.

Saffron leads the way – stands out. Melange of apricots, tropical fruits and flowers, a bit of toffee. On the sweeter side, but with enough acid to hold in check. 93
