Lacking a bit of oomph and length to score higher but you wont be disappointed if you like aged BDX - cedar, lead pencil, black fruit. Nice in its own way even if not a blockbuster.

This is mostly just for vertical completion. I probably should have opened years ago, but it likely wasn't better as it had good condition and wasn't a poor wine in any aspect. It was just acceptable and still a decent and correct cab-focused wine. Had the normal cigar box and although fruit was diminished, it had the black currants still there. Just nothing special and less fresh in the finish than the next 3 vintages showed. Drink 'em if ya got 'em.

Chateau Pontet-Canet Dinner (La Trompette, Chiswick): Developed with mushroom, soil with underlying dried red fruit, tannins resolved, attractive spicy notes, fresh acidity, lean but with sufficient fruit and a medium/good length finish. Very good, certainly better than expected. Drink up. ***1/2

This wine has seen its peak already but still nicely drinkable. Currants, cherry and a slight hint of herbs on the nose, rather flat on the palate, though. It clearly benefited from decanting.

Clear ruby in colour. Clean nose of currant and cedar. Dry, med acidity, med body, currant, tobacco, slight vanilla, and cherry on palate. Med finish. Drinking well right now. Not sure it this will get any better.

750. Mature disc, but shockingly opaque robe for a '93. Nice nose that develops a bit - currant, pencil, cedar, a little bit of funk. Actually better than expected given the vintage. A rather lean palate - not a big surprise. But good overall and with character. No over-extraction here. At peak - only downhill from here.

Wife Bday! Decanted the wine for 3-hr and I am glad I did it and could see how all that O2 helped the wine to make it come together (sugar, acids, tannins and fruits) Color: Dark ruby red, clear rim (no signs of ageing yet) Nose: Pencil lead shaving, oak (but not so strong), Vanilla, herbal and minty/menthol Palate:Silky, balanced medium body wine that leaves a impression on the tongue like a liquorice. A good solid wine with complex features. Ready and at its Peak. Drink up.

Day #1: Slate and earth, loamy, mushroom, black earth. Subtle fruit nuances, cedery resin. Hard to mistake the difference between french and american style cabs, and bordeaux. They are essentially different styles of wine. Great for a well aged, french wine.

opens up nicely with dark fruit and leather and slate, with a hint of pencil lead. it had a long long finish, and firm tannin structure. Very good wine from an up-and-coming chateau in Pauillac.

Classic Bordeaux Structure. Soft Tannins, Mild Fruit, Cigar, Tobacco and Mint. Decent Balance but lacking in any depth or complexity.

Earthy nose with tobacco and hints of leather. A lot of berry fruit on the palette. Firm tannins. Long enjoyable finish.
