11th of 12, pnp, crumbly cork, perfect level, aging and poxed, heightened colour, drinkable with pleasure and underlying weight, style and complexity obvious, if way off fully clean bottles. Normally at least VF, this bottle VG+ (16.5)….probably best to drink up.

10th of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, previously mostly F or better, VF in 11 and 12, couple of poxed bottles - still remarkably pale, quite leggy; fresh, pure, mineral, complex, previous tropical fruit notes now muted and tending to apple and pear; medium but grand cru mouthfeel, long, persistent and concentrated, fab structure, less fruit than last few bottles, remarkably pure for vintage, very mineral, probably needs drinking. F+ (18).

1999 Ramonet Chassagne Montrachet Ruchottes is so nutty and buttery with sharp acidity and balanced yellow fruit. A terrific Ramonet! Still too young. The potential is huge. At least 5-7 years before hitting its peak. Grand cru quality.

Burg Dinner with Friends (Inovasi - Lake Bluff IL): Ripe apple with lemon custard and lemon peel. Subtle floral start that got more intense with more air, as did the spice. This also picked up weight and length with more time in glass.

Burg Dinner with Friends (The Bristol - Chicago IL): Apple, lemon, lemon peel and wintergreen. Ripe fruit with excellent structure throughout and impressive depth. Kept getting better through two hours in glass.

The nose here is very faint, almost completely neutral. While the color is advanced, the palate remains young and fresh and shows a bit of a caramel element in the background. Round on the palate, the acidity is not prominent but in the back. L'Apicio with Bruce, Neil and Michel.

Medium gold. Wow home run aromatics burst from the glass! The palate has it all with rich fruit, acidic tension, length, intensity and precision of flavor. Fruit is still youthfully fresh made complex with mineral and mint. Outstanding.

1999 Burgundy 1er Dinner (goosefoot - Chicago IL): Really sensational, this was the best bottle of this wine I've had in the past couple of years. Lush and rich fruit with very good concentration and density. Intriguing mint hints that are characteristic of Ramonet, with a subtle licorice hint as well. This is showing the potential I recall from when I tried this wine very young around 2003 or 2004.

Ramonet Dinner (The Bristol - Chicago IL): Served in a Ramonet 1999 flight, so slightly lost alongside the Batard and BBM. Still, nicely floral with apple aromas and flavors and some lemon peel. Very well balanced, at a very good place right now.

Popped and poured but could definitely do with some decanting as it was rather tight. I get a lot of almonds on the nose, to the point that it got a bit distracting. Love the palate though as the texture was oily and lush. Still primary.

First bottle was corked so I was a little concerned but this was drinking very nicely. Sort of pineapple nose, good acidity and nice finsih but maybe could have been a little longer. Not sure it will get any better.

When this isn't premoxed, it's SPECTACULAR. The weight of a GC, perfectly situated at the midpoint of its maturity curve. just beginning to show some hazelnuts. finish gets longer and longer as it opens up.

No premox here as this was an exceptional bottle. It had the pungent minerality that made me think more of Puligny than Chassagne. Beautiful, mineral attack with marked acidity and freshness. As the wine opened, my only nit is that it became a bit more compressed and the finish wasn't as long as it might have been. But overall, a beautiful bottle of Chassagne drinking close to peak. Also worth noting was the non-peroxide (and long!) cork was in great shape with little if any seepage up the sides.

Darker color than I expected, thus I was a bit worried, but it seemed to lighten in the glass. (Chemists, is that even possible?) After about an hour and a half of air, it really started to blossom and come together. I have a soft spot for this wine and it showed very well last night. It was my last bottle, unfortunately. If I had more, I'd wait at least 5 more years.

Wines for the Acker Merrall Bicentennial Auction (The Pool - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. Dark color, but still very bright with mostly baked apple and almost sweet spice. Very rich start-to-finish.

A 40th Birthday Celebration, Lunch Edition (Elements Restaurant at the Sanctuary - Paradise Valley, AZ): Served blind from magnum. Floral start with ripe apple and some lemon peel hints. Soft, elegant textures with Grand Cru density and a very long finish. I thought this Grand Cru from 2002, another ripe vintage.

Served blind from magnum. Awesome wine, rich and creamy midpalate, with a long chalky mineral finish. Absolutely grand cru quality.
