Rose petals and cherry compote. Elegant and light like a BDM should be. Medium finish brought the score down. It’s not fading but won’t get better either.

Lovely structure and balance. There is cherry and plum as the primary fruit. Fine grained tannins and balanced acidity provide the core for a long finish. Hard to find fault.

Cellared at 55 since acquisition at release. Beautiful deep ruby w brown highlights - cocoa, espresso, balsamico, soy, and raspcherry liqueur - richness buoyed by crisp focusing acids cast upon regally tannic frame. No rush but I am pretty sure this wine is at its long flat-topped apogee. In a great place at 12 yrs old.

2 hour decant. This was smooth with soft but present tannin and primary flavors of sweet plum and leather. Medium weight in the mouth with a lingering finish. Beautiful burgundy color with slight bricking. I have not had much aged Brunello so I cannot say whether or not I think this will get better but I can say that it is exquisite now. If you have more than one bottle of this, then I would encourage you open at least one now. 94+

The first of several Brunellos I bought in 2015 when Wine Spectator was saying that 2010 was a spectacular year for Brunello. I was really looking forward to opening one. This is Medium red and full bodied. Tannins are present, but controlled. Drinking very well now, but could go much longer.

Found this to be open, supple, and seductive; generous and well-articulated; a spectacular wine with a relaxed structure and easy poise, making it an earlier drinking bottle of 2010 Brunello.

Tasted and reviewed double blind. Wife poured into decanter. This is a dark, brooding, savory, higher-end wine that tastes Italian. (To my knowledge, no American winemaker has ever made a wine of this character. And while some French wines have a similar character, this wine doesn’t fit any French wine profile.) The nose reminds me of the “Italian food shop” aromas that Madeline Puckette astutely attributes to sangiovese. (Honestly, she is a wine tasting genius.) Roses in the nose too. And roasted clay pot? Brown flavors, like dried figs and fallen leaves. Balsamic acidity, gritty tannins. I’m going to guess this is brunello.
With time in the decanter, this wine opened up more. I’m starting to like it more. But the tannins are too big, and the oak is too strong. This wine isn’t ready to drink. Give it several years more time. This has the potential to be beautiful. Give it time.
Rating: 94 on potential.

Med intense brick red going towards tawny. Med intense bouquet lightly deveoped. Dry, soft, med+ acid, med(+) tannins, alc, body and intensity. Fine balance. med+ finish.
Drink (or keep).
My notes: Dark fruits, jammy choccolate, pencil lead, slate, vanilla, pepper.

Juicy, supple, sweet, and keeping its own frame well. Decanted but could work fine PNP. High acidity, medium tannin. Rich smell and taste of chocolate, coffee, blue/black berries. Drinking well now and overall a very enjoyable wine.

We opened and let it sit while we drank a bottle of prosecco and a bottle of Paul Hobbs chardonnay. Fruit on the nose. The palate was dark cherry, leather and spices. The finish was moderate to long. I had expected more depth from a wine from this vintage which kept the rating down.

Came off fuller, sweeter, and less racy this time around (vs 2 yrs ago). Missed the tension. A fleshy southern brunello, sweet cherry, baking spices, sweeter amarone-like overall feel, a nod to the Allegrini house style (?). Better than overly sweet and somewhat flabby '13.

Drank over 2 hours after pour. This was very elegant, and approachable, but not all that interesting. Mostly get fruit with a bit of acidity for balance. For my preferences, I would hope more secondary flavors emerge over time, but not clear if the wine holds up that long.

This wine is simply an absolute joy to drink. It has everything: fruit (red fruits and cherries) “, a fine Bordeaux-like length, subtle well integrated oak, balancing acidity. So enjoyable.

Sweet cherry, oak/vanilla, licorice, spizes. Very, very balanced, smooth and easy to drink ... and hard not to. Would have liked a bit more resistance ... it lacks a bit of freshness and structure to make it real interesting. Not obvious where it will be in 5 years, but I’ll hope for the best and wait at least a year with the next bottle.

I picked up 2 bottles of this wine at Costco based on the Spectator score, the reputation of the Itialian 2010s, and the price point (+/-$50.00). It did not disappoint. This is still very young with a ton of acidity however it drinks very nicely at this point with some vigorous swirling. Excellent up front aeromatics and complexity into the mid palate that ends with a very nice lingering finish. I finished the 2nd half of the bottle on day 2 and it was every bit as good as night 1, though maybe a little bit hollow toward the end of the mid palate. Overall an excellent wine that I wish I had a couple more of.

Weekly tasting group RWP #256: Giro d'Italia (@ JdB): Clear red and some development in the color. In the bouquet sweet spices, sweet licorice, dark berries, tea and some medicine. On the palate also some development, sweet spices, firm acidity and tannin, red cherries and coffee.

Really nice Brunello; notes of soft cherry, rose petal, tobacco, and just a hint of straw/hay. Soft & integrated on the palate. Would love to pair with lamb.

Already accessible, with plenty of juicy dark cherries. Improves with decanting and has plenty of tannins. Should only improve with more cellaring; still young but much joy already.

One of the most accessible brunellos that I have tasted from the 2010 vintage. Full of life, with much cellaring potential, but is already a pleasure to drink. Classic dark cherries and some herbs on the palate. Quite juicy, too.

Montalcino Visit -- San Polo and San Polino: Very pretty, fresh, and charming Brunello. Showcases a perfumed, soft, perfumed southern Montalcino fruit -- aromas of olives, lavender, earth and a touch of volatile tree sap. Accessible now, but has the juicy ripeness to mature for a decade. Aged in botti barrels only, the wine shows a respectful and a deft touch of a talented young winemaker. A nice find for this consumer.
